As everybody know when we export File>Export Scene>3D into VRML they will be two types of files were generated (.wrl and several of image files like *000.jpg *001.jpg). I  would like to know why the number of image files keep changing if we use different size of image files (eg. satellite image). For example when I generated image file of 845kb it will generated 4 image files. When I generated image file of 1,235 kb it will generated 6 image tiles. I would like to know what is the reason for this? How can we control the number of images file generated using this technique? Hope somebody can explain to me

Thank you

I have the same question and I would like to know what these .jpg files used for. Once there were thousands of .jpg generated in my case. Thanks.

Any textures in your scene will be exported as tiles as powers of 2 (i.e. 256 x 256 pixels) for more efficient display on 3D hardware- The larger your extent, the larger the number of tiles in order to maintain the resolution.
