Hi Joshua, Although I am grateful for Randy Burton pointing me to a great arcpy resource on cursors, I did manage to update the larger of the two tables using a join within the ArcMap GUI. I don't know why it didn't work previously - perhaps not enough available RAM at the time? - but once joined, the Field Calculator operation completed the update in about 90 minutes. The join was based on LP2016Q2_PRP_adj.NEAR_FID = PRP17_dis.OBJECTID, then calculating LP2016Q2_PRP_adj.NEARPEST_PRP = PRP17_dis.pr_id. I do think it's worth attempting the same update using the arcpy.da.cursor method, if only to see if it works faster than 90 minutes

I have two tables: The top table LP2016Q2_PRP17_adj has the field NEAREST_PRP that needs to be updated with the values held in the pr_id field of PRP17_dis. The related fields here are PRP17_dis.OBJECTID = LP2016Q2_PRP_adj.NEAR_FID (green arrows). A simple table join in ArcMap isn't working as there are multiple destination rows for NEAREST_PRP for every single pr_id row entry (orange arrow). For example, when PRP17_dis.pr_id = '0002' (one row), LP2106Q2_PRP17_adj.NEAR_FID = 1 has 9,422 corresponding rows that need the '0002' value. I don't know how to approach this table update issue as it appears to require iterating through multi-row sub-queries. Given that the top table is large (6.13 million rows) I'd like to know if anyone can advise me on how to use arcpy or another approach to solve this? Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Listers, A client's site is considering a future integration of ArcGIS Server 10.3.1 with IBM Cognos 11.0. Their current BI environment is Cognos 10.2.2, so would it be logical to foresee and upgrade in compatibility with Esri Maps for IBM Cognos in the next 6-12 months? would anyone from Esri care to comment on this timeline? Thanks in advance Gavan

I have a file geodatabase (FGDB) with many feature datasets (FDS) whose names I want to use to rename their constituent feature classes in a prefix-like manner, for example: The first FDS shows how its name is used as the prefix for all the constituent features, whereas the second FDS has feature classes that need to be renamed. You'll notice there are 3 numerals appended to each feature class that need to be trimmed off as well. I have found several limitations with arcpy in ArcGIS 10.1 (SP1) in that tools like ListFeatureClasses and ListDatasets don't like iterating through multiple FDSs in the same FGDB. I am wondering if the solution is in the use of Iterators in the ModelBuilder environment? Has anyone out there had any similar experiences and success in processing a large collection of FDSs? Thanks in advance Gavan

Hi Geoportalists, I hope I've missed something glaringly obvious but I don't have a register button in the upper right hand screen of the Geoportal page that accesses the registration page. What procedure do I need to follow in order to enable the Registration screen? Any ideas, pointers etc. most welcome! This is a Windows 2008 R2 Standard x65 system running Geoportal 1.1 on Apache Tomcat 6.0. thanks Gavan Thomas
