Agree with this and the biggest problem with transferring content which I don't see being mentioned here is with content shared directly with a user directly or external groups they belong to. This means first identifying what content and groups they have been invited to and then chasing the owners or someone with permission to share and asking them to share to the new user name. This is potentially asking clients or suppliers to do work to support our internal administration.

Thanks @KoryKramer - am I missing something or can this only be set as static BBOX in snapshot mode. Ie it doesn't move to match your current view window.

Another note here Matt is even if you can justify the viewer account you can't pass that onto a client as that is a breach of the no on-selling of named user account conditions. I've got this exact scenario where I'm happy to pay for viewer accounts for my clients but the T & Cs say that client needs their own organisational account - not economic or practical for me to implement for individual farmers. A real shame as the platform would really lend itself to this use and potentially bring on new AGOL users who would not otherwise be exposed to the technology. Any changes on this use case in 2020 Thomas Fair Kelly Gerrow? Ie can I share data and analysis results securely and easily via AGOL using my AGOO with individuals and small organisations I am doing contracted work for without them needing to jump through the hoops of setting up their own AGOO. Happy to pay a fair fee for the privilege (an idea would be allowing me to purchase viewer seats in my organisation for presentation of results to my clients)

Going to throw out there that this is a bug not a feature request / idea and the old line of this is a feature / limitation not a bug. The value is: - populated in geodatabase - shows in ArcCatalog (the faster more reliable on ethat comes with ArcGIS for Desktop ) - Main thing that bumps this to a bug IMO is Catalog view in ArcGIS Pro has a column for this value just doesn't show it. Given that can Kory Kramer confirm if there's a bug logged for this? Or can it be upped from an idea to a bug. Cheers, Sam

Thanks Jeff - slightly different as in this case I doing the work for other people (not other people doing work for my org) and I want to buy a licence for them. I would have to be making some kind of charge to cover this cost so I think would techniclly be on-selling the licence (even though it's only to work with me). At least that's what I understand. I have been told yes I can to do what you suggest - get them to buy a creator licence and give to me to use although this means setting up and maintaining another organisation and working between that and my own 'organisation'. That could work for one of the people I am doing work for but then I do other work with many separate farmowners - they are not each going to run an AGOL org. and a creator licence just to view what I make them is prob also not really feasible. Cheers, S.

Not really what we are looking at but thanks Thomas. Don't think the partner network really fits the small business model. Anyone else in this thread looked at that path?

Hi Kelly Gerrow - see there's a few here with similar issues. Am talking with our local dist. but last was no they would need to create their own AGOL account. Not really what a farmer is going to do - that's whythey have me working for them. Understand the need to buy a viewer licence or similar just can't ask a farmer to buy a Creator licence and setup and AGOL organisation just to view results of my work. Any suggestions of a different approach that fits with normal Esri licencing? Even if they are approaches I can suggest to our distributors. Cheers, S.

I'll let you know how I get on - still talking with our local distributor. Other products are an option but Esri wrap it all up nicely if I can just make it work with licencing. These are users who wouldn't buy any type of named user and if I can put them against my organisation as a freelance consultant that's one extra named user Esri wouldn't normally have - plus one org would prob look at eventually registering as an org in their own right if I can show them the use cases through initial consulting. Failing that I'll look at other products which would then prob also push my desktop use to QGIS as it's really the AGOL part of Esri that is a big benefit to me at the moment. It's a shame as this is the really simple but powerful quick ad-hoc type work that AGOL has enabled - licencing is getting better with single seats and different user types but this one last tweak would make things really easy to roll out to so many more uninitiated spatial users. Cheers, Sam

Thanks Kathy - some great info and I'll have a good look at them. Another option we used at my previous job we looked into these type of things. We settelled on publish the app and AGOL WebMap publically but all services used came from our own ArcGIS Server on our own hardware. We then used ArcGIS Server to secure the services themselves. This emant we had to Administer our users from ArcGIS Server but did mean no additional named users. Getting the OK for this was mainly due to the fact we had an ASP licence agreement which I believe are being phased out. In my case both options are probably to much work - am looking for a way to share ad hoc, quick work I have done as a GIS professional helping non spatial companies and individuals. In an ideal world some of these may take the plunge and get a named user account but for now getting a farmer to jump through those hoops is too much of a barrier. Understand the need to pay for the service which is why allowing me to register a named user against my organisation and assign to an email address of an individual outside would be a good compromise (and allow me to build a charge in to my service for that - when it becomes on-selling I think).

That request is a good start but doesn't secure the data - just makes it not searchable. I'd prefer to be able to add users to my organisation that are not strictly members - knowing I'd have to cover another named user licence of the approapriate level. This on selling of named users is not allowed from what I've found.

Thanks Kelly - am in discussions with them but sounding like it's not really a model they support. That's why I came here for advice on what others are doing. My previous work got permission to resell seats but they were a huge multinational with prob one of our countries larger ELAs. The old ASP licence also catered to this but again only really for large enterprises. From what I'm finding and reading here small companies wanting to work privately with their clients are still needing to revert to PDFs, ArcReader etc. Interested to hear other use cases that my account manager and I could look over.

Another prob more feasible option would be for Esri to support the server side creation of raster tiles from a vector tile basemap. This approach is being done by other tile servers and allows the map creator to cache and host once but to also supply to software or users not comfortable moving from raster tiles.

Single seats are now avail but they still need to purchase a "creator" licence and setup and administer a new organisation. We have our own organisation and supply private property data to landowners - would love to be able to supply online via apps etc to these landowners (farmers mostly) but they are not going to want to set up an organisation. Ideal option would be if we could register new viewer, editor and/or field worker users against our organisation and assign to our clients although we need to recoup this cost which then counts as reselling and a breach of Esri's licence. Anyone have any ideas on a workable solution or is this still not fitting in Esri's current model?

Hi there, We are standing up a new AWS environment with the plan for our cache to be hosted in an S3 bucket. All worked fine during initial testing but export map and wms calls are not working - seems they can't find the tiles. Odd thing is standard Rest calls via the JS API etc are. Have a ticket logged with our local distributor but need to sort ASAP otherwise we are going to have to host on a CIFS share with 10x the cost for storage plus an EC2 instance. We are talking 14+ terriblebytes so pretty significant. Steps here are how we replicated with a simple test - just thought I'd try here if anyone had any ideas? Cheers, S>
