Jian HuangGIS@ Hey all, I need some knowledge on how heat equation been utilized in the interpolation. Its not clear anywhere on the ESRI. The tool help mentions this in its tool "Interpolates a surface using a kernel that is based upon the heat equation and allows one to use raster and feature barriers to redefine distances between input points". Please help me understand using the heat equation in the process. Thanks

I'm running ArcGIS 10.2 and have been using the Geostatistical Wizard to create an interpolation layer using ordinary kriging. The Wizard has successfully run the kriging operation and produced a geostatistical layer output, which looks quite reasonable. However, when I try to export the GA layer to a raster (I've tried both GA Layer to Grid and Data->Export to Raster from the TOC) the resulting raster is empty. The range of the raster layer as shown in the TOC is -3.4...e+038 to 3.4...e+038, and when I open the properties for the layer, no summary stats are shown. Calculating Statistics is not doing anything, it runs, but doesn't change the summary stats and the raster still appears empty. The projection information of the original point data and the output raster match. Herewith attached the Jpeg which shows the geostatistical result and exported result with -3.4...e+038 to 3.4...e+038 Let me know if I'm missing something...Please advise!

Hi We don't have data. To see how the results would be, I created some random points with some values in float data type. After which I ran geostatistical wizard. The data comply normal distribution with log transformation and also comply "stationary". I got the kriging prediction map from geostatistical wizard. The values are distributed within the range of 22.9862995 - 438.985992. This resultant kringing prediction map when I try to export to raster, it does either (2) only exporting the covariance map from the geostatistical wizard or (2) only exponential values with no map - same way happening with the "Kriging tool" of spatial analyst. Could anyone suggest a remedy? Thank you R
