Hello, I did modify the URL in the config.js file. Perhaps the issue is that the Story Map template is not on a server running Portal or AGOL. Instead, it's on one of our webservers. So, for a template to work, does it have to be 'housed' under Portal or AGOL? Thanks, Lisa

I would like to add a web map from my organization's Portal to a Story Map served on a separate server (still within our network). Is this a valid (supported) configuration? Web map and it's layers are shared with everyone and I'm able to pass the web map's ID successfully. But, the web map won't render in the Story Map app - it's looking for siblings of the mapContainer which is undefined. This is where it fails (Dev tools debugging): this.getMapConfig = function(response, mapContainer)

I create a service definition file using arcpy.mapping.CreateMapSDDraft() and arcpy.StageService_server(). When published, it wants to create tiles. I suspect the arcpy.mapping.CreateMapSDDraft() is the issue - is there some trigger or threshold for the data/source MXD that forces the *.sddraft to use caching? I've tried editing the *.sddraft XML to remove the cache/tile elements, with no success (staging fails).

Hello - I should have mentioned that I'm not creating (sharing) manually. Instead, I use arcpy.mapping.CreateMapSDDraft() and arcpy.StageService_server() to create the *.sd file. Then, I add it to our AGOL using REST (/addItem). So, it seems like the default config in the *.sd file is to force tiling. Example 7 here indicates that a *.sddraft file can be edited. Any idea if tiling can be turned off via this route? I'm pursing this because we have ~240 services that I need to publish and want to automate that.

Hello, I am trying to create raster data sets from census block groups of a state that result in proportional allocation based on the density of the block group it is taking the value from. Essentially, I am trying to create a raster like the one in the second picture on this website: http://sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/data/collection/gpw-v3/methods/grid I have tried searching all over the place including in all of the related toolboxes within ArcGIS. Has anyone ever created raster files like this before? Is there an easy way to proportionally allocate quantitative data in a raster? I would appreciate any advice. Than Eric Hi Eric- you may have figured this out already, but one technique is to rasterize the source polygons, then create a count of cells within the block group, then use that to divide the block group population. Something like this (ArcGIS 10.2.2):
# Create the cell count raster
pyLURas = Lookup(pyNonZeroPop,"Count")
# Divide population raster by cell count raster; 'distributes' values into each cell in output
outDistRas = Float(pyNonZeroPop) / Float(pyLURas)
outDistRas.save(outputDistRaster)
Then, you can check the values by running zonal stats (Sum) on the outputDistRaster - sum should be equal to block group population (or nearly, given rounding, etc). Hope this helps, Lisa

Hello, I'm running some raster calculations (spatial analyst, using Python, v10.2.2) and get massive 64-bit double precision rasters as default output. Is there any way to force single precision or 32-bit depth aside from this approach: [INDENT]1. run the calculation e.g. r1 = FocalStatistics(inputRaster, nbrValue, statistic, "DATA")
outRas = (r1 / 63.5) where inputRaster is an unsigned 8-bit raster 2. Convert outRas to an integer by multiplying by 1,000, then rounding to keep only the first 3 decimal places 3. Converting back to float (32-bit hopefully) by dividing by 1,000 4. Saving to output format (file GDB or GeoTIFF) [/INDENT] Any other way to control pixel type than this? Hello, I have a JS app that edits a point feature service. It worked well with ArcGIS Server 10.0, but I'm having problems with editing in 10.1. I know editing a feature service via ArcMap now requires creating a local copy, but I assumed the web APIs would allow direct editing as they did previously. Has anyone had success using this type of configuration to edit a feature service? If so, how did you get it to work? Any insights appreciated! Lisa

Hello, I have some custom ArcGIS toolboxes containing script tools (v10.0 and v10.1) written in Python. Is there a way in Python to get the folder path of the script tool that is being executed? I tried os.getcwd() but that returns the default path for the MXD in which the tool is running, which usually isn't in the same location as the script tool(s). And, the arcpy.env.workspace property isn't an option for my scripts. I'm likely missing something obvious. Any help appreciated! Lisa

Hello, Trying this post again, hoping to attract post-holiday reviews/assistance... I have a script tool (originally written in 10.0 SP5) that generates raster layers, then adds them using a derived output script tool parameter. The tool/script works great in 10.1 SP1, except for the final step of adding the raster layers to the map (using arcpy.SetParameterAsText()). The layer is added correctly IF no symbology is used. However, if symbology is set by populating the Parameter Properties Symbology value in the tool, ArcMap crashes when adding the raster layer. I've tried with both the default *.lyr file, which was created in 10.0 SP5 and a new *.lyr file created with 10.1. Same result if symbology is applied via the script tool (==ArcMap crash). Not sure why the auto-symbology fails so spectacularly... These are file geodatabase rasters, un-signed 8-bit, nothing special... Here's a zip archive with a map package (v10.0) and the toolbox.
