I was able to extract tile caches at levels 17 - 19. However, I noticed that the re-compression value does not take effect once I pass level id 16 and the resulting file size is the same even the re-compression is set. I am trying to extract tile caches over a large area (eastern US) at about level 16 or 17, while trying to keep the resulting file manageable and with the constraint of 100k tile request.

I have a question about the resolution at which tiled map packages can be created. I see that there are no tiles available past the level 15 for the tiledmapservice world imagery. Is that the highest resolution I can get while creating tpk files for offline usage?

Thank you Eric! Is this true for other run time sdks for example Java? It will be great if there is a reference about SDKs which do not require an active EDN license.

Is there any support or (planned support) for ArcGIS Windows mobile tool box? ArcGIS run time sdks do not support windows mobile operating system that run on Trimble hand held devices. So is there a way to create mobile caches from mxd documents with ArcGIS pro.

We are using windows mobile sdk (10.2). The time value returned by the serialportgpsconnection1 is wrong 50% of the time (off by an hour). The NMEA string from the gps receiver has the correct time. We have not seen this behavior before in any previous versions. I cannot believe that the GPS connection is returning a wrong time. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hello Michael, I did not bring this up with ESRI Support. Just double clicking the eslf file will launch the license manager and we went with this workaround for now. Thanks, naga

Hi, Applying NAD_27_TO_WGS_84_conus geotransformation does not get applied if a mobile cache is created. The Mapschema.bin fine has "Not Defined " for the transformation that is needed to go from NAD27 to WGS84 or vice versa. We have seen this issue for a while with ArcGIS 9.X , 10.X as well. Our research led to some 10 year old post where there is a quote from ESRI product specialist here: ArcPad only supports three and seven parameter datum transformation methods. Unless you can calculate a local seven parameter transformation for your data, none of the predefined transformations are really that good. The best transformation is the NADCON method which uses two files of shift values to model the differences between NAD27 and NAD83. The files are generally too large to support on hand-helds. ArcPad NAD27 issues with GPS (this is the link of the post). Does it mean that ArcGIS Mobile products do not support NADCON based transformations in the Hand Held Devices? We work with pre-surveyed files where the points are already surveyed and transformed to a Projected coordinate System. Often the information about the specific Transformation that was applied to get to the X, Y is not available and navigating to these points are a challenge. Has anybody seen this situation before where the mobile cache is generated with a CONUS transformation set up on the data frame, but the mobile cache does not carry this transformation and you are off by 100ft+ or whatever offset that is expected? We are using ArcGIS 10.0, but I have tested that ArcGIS 10.2.X does not put CONUS transformation in the map cache as well? Thanks,

Hello, I am having an issue with running Create Mobile Map in a non admin mode. I can create map cache files as logged in Administrator. But, if I login as a standard user (which is where the users will log in), I get a generic error - Invalid custom tool. If I run ArcMap as Administrator (Right click shortcut and select Run as administrator). I can successfully generate Map cache. Can somebody please shed some light on this. Thanks, Naga

Hello, I am seeing a strange issue in 10.0 mobile version. If a convert a coordinate (x.x,y.y) to WGS84 using mobilecache1.spatialreferece.towgs84 and if I convert the resulting GPS coordinate back to map coordinates using mobileCache1.SpatialReference.FromWgs84, the resulting mapcoordinates does not match the original map coordinates. Its about 30 to 50 m off, depending on the mobilecache spatial reference. Below is the piece of the code, I used to test this. However in 9.3.1 the same function works fine and , the resulting coordinates match close to a decimal point. Has anybody seen this ?? and is there a workaround or an alternate method to convert GPS coordinates to map coordinates. private void TestTransformations() { Coordinate coordinate = new Coordinate( 245649.4, 3280766.6 ); Coordinate gpsCoordinate = mobileCache1.SpatialReference.ToWgs84( coordinate ); Coordinate coord = mobileCache1.SpatialReference.FromWgs84( gpsCoordinate.X,gpsCoordinate.Y); MessageBox.Show( coord.X + " " + coord.Y ); } Thanks,
