Good answer Similar question : it is also possible to share an item to both evreyone (which in that case share it automatically to the organization) and groups. In that case, because the item is public and therefore accessible by people from other organization, is there any reason to share it to a group also ?

When sharing an item it is possible to select both organization and groups. By default sharing the item with the organization will share it to everyone within the organization so what is the use of being able to share it to groups also ?

down votefavorite I'm having problem destroying a widget with ArcGIS JS API 3.19 (Dojo 1.11) I was previously using version 3.16 (Dojo 1.10) and the following worked fine : this.myWidget.destroyRecursive(); Since I upgraded to Dojo 1.12 I have the following error : Uncaught TypeError: f.contains is not a function at Object.isDescendant (init.js:97) at Object.<anonymous> (init.js:267) at Object.<anonymous> (init.js:63) at Object.c [as destroy] (init.js:118) at Object.destroyRendering (init.js:353) at Object.n (init.js:157) at Object.destroyRendering (init.js:380) at Object.destroy (init.js:352) at Object.advice (init.js:119) at Object.c [as destroy] (init.js:118) Any idea what could have changed ?

Hi, I have got a Java SOE that access several MapServices using SOAP. I would like to get the layer definition of each layer of the MapService in order to retrieve their IDs. I'm not quite sure how to do that. Currently I'm able to get the MapServerLayer like this : MapServerLayer msl = (MapServerLayer) this.currentRequestServerContext
.createObject(MapServerLayer.getClsid());
try {
msl.serverConnect(agsServerObjectName,
mapServer.getDefaultMapName());
} catch (Exception ex) {
log.error("Problem connect to service: " + url + ". Error detail:",
ex);
return null;
}
Thanks

The API Reference state that one can modify the layer name displayed in the legend by specifying a title in layerInfos. However when I do so in ArcGIS API for JavaScript Sandbox I don't see any change : var legend = new Legend({
view: view,
layerInfos: [{
layer: featureLayer,
title: "My new title"
}]

It is possible to use your own version of ArcGIS API for JavaScript by setting the variable apiUrl in env.js However make sure this API will be available from within your apps. E.g. if you deploy them onto another domain.

When I create a Web Map from a private Item (e.g. Feature Service) and share this Web Map to my organization, it seems that anyone from my organization can open the Web Map and see the Item. However, these users cannot find the Item on the organization's portal. Is there something I don't understand about the sharing process?
