I am working on ArcMap tutorials for YouTube and thought it'd be nice to highlight my cursor with a yellow circle. I made a custom cursor with a yellow highlight and applied it in my mouse properties. The highlighted cursor actually shows in most panels (Table of Contents, ArcCatalog, the tool bar, etc), except in the Map window. So when I move the cursor say from the table of contents to the map window, the highlight disappears. Anyone know how I can fix this? Thank you all.

Thank you Owen, I do see now your explanation regarding text limitations on headings. It would be nice though to change the color of headings! I'm actually currently not looking to right align any text, I just thought that some may find it useful. But centering text is something I am looking to do on headings, paragraph text, and even bullet points. A few more suggestions I thought of: 1. Sidecar: It would be useful to adjust the separation between the media and the text. I find that the media block is too large. 2. Bullet points: allow for adding a space between bullet points. For easier readability, I like to place a space between bullet points. I am able to initially, but when I scroll away from them, they revert back and the spacings are removed.

Hi Owen, thanks for the replies. I think the issue with not being able to bold/italicize text was what Mia was saying. Sometimes I was able to, sometimes I wasn't, and I couldn't figure out why it works in some sections but not in others. Regarding the title, I can only choose font pairings- it would be nice to be able to choose my own fonts from a list we see in word processing programs. Can't change the color/size or any other properties of the title or subtitles (no menu when highlighting text). Color is defaulted to an almost black gray. Regarding spacing, I feel that the spacing between sections should be adjustable. Currently I find the spacing to be too wide in some cases, but that's my opinion so different options would be good: Also appears that all text can only be left aligned- middle and right aligned would be good features to add. I also find it strange how not all features of the text menu are available in all sections? See screenshot, no option for bold or color change of highlighted text in the first, but I was able to in a different section: Thanks! Christian

I just started using the new story maps today, and either I'm not looking in the right place, or there appears to be many basic word processing features missing. I can't seem to change font size (besides heading or regular text), choose a font (besides the template fonts), emphasize particular words in a section by changing color, size, bold, italics, etc., can't change spacing between sections, etc. There are also some cumbersome issues with text formatting, such as when doing bullet points- if a bullet text spills to the second line, I can't align the second line text with the above text, it only aligns to the bullet (see screen shot). The story map title is completely uncustomizable besides the predetermined template options. There's not as much customization as I thought there would be, but I hope the above things are in the works. See attachments. All the advanced features like embed and sidecar are nice, but let's get the basics in too.

Oh that's great! I do have a gdb with layers in it for this project. But here's what I tried: I deleted the network dataset since I do not need it after generating the distance polygons then tried to package it again. Error persists, and looking at it closer it actually points to the "Service Areas" layer that has the facilities, barriers, distance polygons, etc. sublayers. In reality I just need the distance polygons sublayer so I unchecked the rest (you cannot delete them). Attempted to save the distance polygons in the gdb using feature class to feature class. They do export, but upon adding to the map, they do not retain their 3 distance bands. All polygons are one color.

When I try to package a project where I have created a network dataset (In ArcMap since ArcGIS Pro does not allow building network datasets yet), I get this error: 00189: The network dataset must be in a geodatabase. The error refers me to here: 00189: The network dataset must be in a geodatabase—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop However, this site does not tell me HOW to place the network dataset in a geodatabase. Any assistance appreciated.

I been trying to do the exact same thing yesterday. Here's an easy way I found out about by using the Table to Table tool: 1. Import the table 2. Open the Table to Table tool 3. Input rows = Table just imported 4. Under Field Map, choose the output field(s) to convert to text. 5. Click Properties. Under Type, choose Text. Change the precision as needed. 6. Click Run

Dan and Robert, thank you. Now I'm debating on the video memory. The recommended is 4GB discrete, but some of the options I'm looking at is the Intel 620 (onboard), GeForce 2GB, or GeForce 4GB. What's your take?

I'm merging from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro and due to the higher system requirements, I'm in the market for a new system. I'm considering getting a touchscreen laptop such as the Surface Pro, and actually use the stylus and touchscreen for ArcGIS Pro. I love the idea of using a stylus instead of a mouse. For those that have used ArcGIS Pro in this manner, any opinions? Does it navigate well (clicking, zooming in and out, typing, etc.) or should I stick with traditional mouse navigation?

I have read in various places that we get 2GB free storage with AGOL, but I have noticed that storage is consuming my credits (I have the $100/ year home license). How can I get the 2GB free storage without consuming credits?

I've been learning GIS for about 2 years now, very part time. However, I want to be well rounded in GIS. I find it easier to learn how to use tools first (as those in the Toolbox), then realizing what can be done with them, opposed to doing a lesson on how to do something (measure distance for example), then realizing that it used the proximity analysis tool (as is with most lessons I've come across) Having said that, any lessons, books, etc that go over tool by tool?

I just got an email that I need to buy more service credits for AGOL, but would like to know how I can find out how much space I'm using at any given moment (because storage takes service credits). I haven't seen anything that tells me how much space I'm currently using under My Content, or My Account, or anywhere else that would make sense to me. Also, I'm negative on credits right now and I will be continued to be deducted 4 credits per day...what will happen say if my credits keep going in negative?

@Dan Patterson Okay, it's still not working. Here's what I did: 1. I produced a new file for each layer. I chose the NAD 83 HARN Nevada East State Plane, using the Transverse Mercator projection. 2. I started a NEW GIS project, and set the project the same projection and CRS as above. 3. I loaded the two new files in step 1. 4. I ran the distance analysis. 5. The attribute still shows "Distance" as decimals, such as 0.03.

Thank you. I have reprojected the data to NAD 83 Nevada East, as I was informed this is the correct CRS to use in my area. But nothing has changed, whether I enable CRS on the fly or not. If no solid solution is found, I'm wondering if I can convert those decimal degrees to miles (with accurate results of course). I was looking up the conversion, and it appears to be 1 decimal degree of latitude is 69 miles, while 1 decimal degree of longitude is about 49 miles. Any advice if this is possible?

Hello everyone. I'm having an issue with distances not being correct in the attribute table of a distance to hub analysis. I'm getting results with very small numbers, which I know are not correct. Here's some basics on the project: Using QGIS, but I think this may not matter for this question. Question to answer: Distances between a population centroid per tract to nearest store that accepts food stamps. CRS on the fly is enabled. Disabling this still doesn't fix the issue presented here. Study area is Clark County, Nevada in the USA. My layers, all using EPSG:3718 - NAD83(NSRS2007) / UTM zone 11N: Layer 1: Food stamp outlets (points) Layer 2: Population centroids per tract. (points) Layer 3: Census Tracts. (polygons) Layer 4: Counties. (polygons) Source point layer: Population centroids. Destination hub layer: Food stamp outlets. Measurement unit: Meters. After running analysis: Output lines appear correctly in the canvas with same CRS as other layers by default. See output attribute table in the picture. Again, the HubDist column numbers should not be that small. Any ideas on the issue? .
