Has anyone had any luck forcing users to enter a value on a feature service in fields where a domain is applied? I have a referenced feature service containing several coded domain fields. This feature service is then made accessible in Field Maps through our Enterprise Portal, connecting directly to our SQL Server. I've found if I apply domains to my fields in the SDE, I am unable to set the fields to not allow NULL values. Esri Support ensured me this is expected behavior through a ticket and suggested I try attribute rules instead. When trying to use a constraint attribute rule, it works during an edit session in ArcGIS Pro and successfully forces users to enter values, but it does not carry through at the feature service level. Whenever I submit a new feature with missing input values from Field Maps via the feature service, it successfully makes it's way into SQL server without being constrained by the attribute rule. Has anyone found a workaround for this? I am able to not allow nulls while using domains by using hosted layers, but this isn't a suitable workaround for my work case. We are needing to use referenced feature services. Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

Hi, I have a web map currently with 22 time enabled layers, with time enabled on each layer in the web map as well. I am planning to add additional time enabled layers to the same map in the coming weeks as my users require more layers for capture. I am trying to edit the advanced options for the time slider in the web map. First of all, the only way I can even see the "OK" button in the dialogue to save my settings is if I flip my monitor to a vertical view. If I don't do this, the advanced options for the time slider dialogue won't scroll down far enough to select "OK". See screenshot below, I have circled the button I can only access in vertical monitor configuration. My monitors are 26" I believe, so by no means a small screen. The above is inconvenient but manageable. The big issue I am having is with the Time Span section of the advanced options, however. Any time I set the End Time dialogue to a later date, whether that is 1 month or 1 year from today's date, the browser freezes and throws the message in the screenshot below. Same occurs if I try to drag the Layer Time Lines as far right as possible then click "OK". This won't work in both Chrome or Edge. Any suggestions to rectify this issue? I am hoping to avoid creating an entirely new map as every layer needs a multi-part filter/definition query applied, edits to the pop-up, and symbology based off different attribute values. As a result, this option will be very time consuming. In the meantime I am planning to just disable time in the map until I can figure something out. PS. The time slider functions properly in the map, but it is bound at an end date of September 3, 2020 (it is September 9th as of making this post). Because of this, when my users are using the web map on their desktop (as opposed to viewing the map on Collector), they don't see any information past September 3rd. Thanks, Brett

Hi Brian, Thanks for your response. I think I had everything configured correctly when this issue occurred, but I've had everything working for a while now by using the default content group of my hub site instead so my issue technically has been rectified, just in a different way then I initially was hoping. All PDF files that I have hosted on AGOL have had public sharing set all along, same went for the groups that the documents were shared with, as well as the gallery card has been set to public sharing the whole time. The gallery card is displaying only "Documents" under "Content Type", I selected my public group the PDFs were shared with dynamically as opposed to manual content selection. Seemingly, the only difference between it working now vs not working before was that the data was shared with a different group that the gallery card was displaying, all other sharing settings were identical including the previous groups sharing being public. It could have been my own user error at the time, but I'm 99% sure I had all sharing setup identically to the way I do now, just using a different group to host my PDFs for my PDF page on the website. If the issue can't be recreated it probably is non-existent. Thanks, Brett

Thanks for the response Thomas, I am using a different group for the PDF gallery content on my "PDF Maps" page, not the "Content" group that was automatically created for my site. Same goes for my "Interactive Maps" page I created, the content in that associated gallery also is not the automatically created "Content" group for the site (but this has posed no issues). I wanted to narrow down my site search to only include downloadable open data like shp/kml/xls formats and keep the search separate from my PDF and interactive maps. As a result, PDFs aren't even being displayed as options to choose from in my search. I tested again myself and every PDF was working perfectly fine in view mode (AGOL login credentials I assume are still cached as a result). So I shared the "PDF Maps" page publicly, tested in an incognito window, and noticed the PDFs no longer would display for me at all in incognito. I got a coworker to try with the site momentarily shared publicly, and found both on Chrome and Edge (with no cached AGOL credentials) that the PDFs would not display for him either. Then magically after trying a few times, the PDFs would show for him on both Edge and Chrome. He was not signed in, and in incognito when I tried neither was I. We never use Edge organizationally either so there should not be anything related to AGOL in his Edge cache. Interestingly enough, I tried sharing one of the PDFs with the site's default content group, and that PDF now shows for me in incognito. Then I removed it from the default content group, and it would no longer display in incognito. Toggled back and forth a couple times and got the same results each try. Do I just need to accept that I will have to share all PDFs with the default content group and that they will show up in my search? It's weird to me that my coworker can sometimes open all PDFs from the PDF page (while not signed in), even though the PDFs aren't shared to the site specific content group. I could not see any when viewing publicly in incognito comparatively. A lot to unpack here, and I'm probably over complicating things. Thanks for your help! Brett

Hi, I am having issues displaying our hosted PDFs through a gallery using ArcGIS hub. Regardless of whether I have the data shared publicly or to just myself as the owner (or if I try Chrome vs Microsoft Edge), I am finding that sometimes the PDF will display and sometimes it will not. There doesn't seem to be any consistency as to whether it will display. I didn't have an issue with the PDFs not displaying before today. I tried deleting the gallery from my site that the PDFs resided, then recreating the gallery. The first couple times I tried to open a PDF it worked, but then stopped working again altogether (on both browsers). The issue seems very similar to the below article. Any suggestions for changes I can make or is this a bug? ARCGIS Hub /Open Data Cannot Download Documents from Search Results after March 2019 update I have web apps (under the Interactive Maps page shown below) configured in a gallery similarly to the gallery on the PDF page, and have had no issues opening the web maps/apps through my site, whether publicly shared vs. shared only to me, Chrome vs Edge, etc. This is the error message that displays (it is not currently shared publicly): Thanks, Brett

I'm a GIS Technician, and I don't have much exposure to how everything works and relates regarding SDE/Server/Portal. Is it possible to link SDE directly to Portal? I'm having a hard time understanding how everything connects from the Esri articles. My assumption from what I've read is that you can configure SDE/Server to a server site, and then have the portal read from the server site. Is this correct? Essentially, the end goal would be to have information in Portal reading directly from SDE feature classes in relatively "real-time" to use for both web mapping purposes and to connect the Portal to a third party browser-based software (PSD CityWide). I would like to have up-to-date GIS data for these purposes without having to upload shapefiles. As an aside, I currently use auto updating scripts that update hosted feature layers in ArcGIS Online based on the layers within an ArcGIS Pro document (the layers are referencing SDE feature classes). Am I reading into this too much, or would I want to find a similar solution to what I've already done for ArcGIS Online?
