Hi all! Is anyone else having trouble with the HEC GeoRAS download? I am using this location: yellow.esri.com - /archydro/HecGeoRAS/. I was able to download ArcHydro and HEC GeoHMS with no problems, but GeoRAS is getting stuck at a point in the download and just never finishes. Is there a mirror site or alternate ftp for this? I need the 10.3 version. Thank you!

Hi Dan, Thanks for your reply! I double checked and I have spatial analyst enabled. I get a variety of errors: ERROR 032659 updateParameters Syntax Error: Runtime error Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Program Files\ArcGIS Pro\ArcHydroPro\Toolboxes\Arc Hydro Tools Pro.tbx#FlowDirection_archydropro.UpdateParameters.py", line 3, in <module> ImportError: No module named 'apwrutils' and ERROR 000816 The tool is not valid. These show as errors next to my input DEM raster (which is in Esri raster format - same file I've used in ArcHydro in ArcMap).

Hi all, I downloaded and installed ArcHydro for ArcGIS Pro from this link: yellow.esri.com - /archydro/archydro/Setup/Pro/ , but none of the tools work and there doesn't seem to be in usage guidance aside from the installation read me file. Was anyone able to get this working? I'm looking to update to 10.4 and until an ArcHydro version is issued for 10.4, I thought the Pro version might provide a nice stop gap. Thanks!

Unfortunately, the best way I know how to do this in ArcMap requires a ridiculous number of steps. You'd want to convert your lines into routes so you can assign M values (stationing). You'll measure from the waterline to the start point of the line and use that to assign the start measure in the "Make Route" dialog. Then you will need to follow these steps: 39229 - Create a profile graph and show it in multiple colors based on line segments to use the Z and M values so that each graph uses the M values for the horizontal axis. You'll use "Add" in Graph properties to stack all your graphs together. Best of luck!

It sounds like your GIS contours are not actually 3D lines. You will need to convert them to 3D using the ELEV field (Features to 3D by Attribute). Then the Export to CAD tool will bring across the lines as 3D. Best of luck!

I'm not sure I've seen one. LibreDWG was an open source library, but they seem to have been beset with issues and I don't think the project actually went anywhere (anyone know?). Most everyone writing programs that need to use DWG seems to use Teigha which has various membership levels depending on what you want to do with the code.

I'm not sure how to do this in ModelBuilder, but you could export your model to Python and add in some error handling there. One thing to try would be to test for file size and number of features and skip those that are too big (using if-then statements). Another thing to do if you don't want to test for size first, is to use a try-except statement. You'd have a "for" loop to pass through all your data and then inside that would be a "try" and an "except" to catch the errors with a "continue" under "except" to let the model know it can skip on to the next item in the "for" loop.

You can add a field to your attribute table and then populate with the links to the photos. Then check "Support hyperlinks using field" on the Display tab of Properties for your layer and you can use the lightning bolt to jump to your photo (ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2). Be sure and put the photos on a shared drive, at a permanent internet link, or use relative paths if you intend to share with other people.

Will it work to run the Spatial Join tool on your streets data with your data driven index feature class (using "one to many" option)? The output layer should include a table with all the properties of your data driven pages and your road names. Roads will appear multiple times if they intersect more than one grid. You'd have to re-run for all your features.

The second line just needs to be a fixed horizontal distance from your cliff so you can determine the elevation based on the angle (see image - I hope that helps a little and I haven't made any math mistakes). Then after you have your two surfaces (ground surface and slope surface) you can show both on a profile graph or use raster calculator to compare the ground surface to the slope surface to get the line of intersection. There is likely an easier way, but this method worked for me.

I've done something similar for showing where railroad tracks at different percent grades would need to go into tunnel. You'll want to create a contour line along your cliff edge and assign it the actual ground elevation in an elevation field. Then draw another line well past where you would expect the slope to intersect the ground (make it a nice round horizontal distance like 1000 feet). Then calculate what the elevation would be for a 32 degree slope at 1000 feet out based on your initial elevation and add that elevation to your elevation field. Copy your 2 lines into 2 new feature classes and adjust the elevation based on your other slopes of interest. Then convert your contour lines to a surface (1 surface for each slope) and add to your profile graph along with the real ground elevation surface. You can also use raster calculator to create a surface that shows where the slope is below ground versus above ground.
