I have a scaled project, what I wasn't doing was exporting the matched features. So just based on the join it seemed that not all of the permits were coming through to the parcels. However, when I exported the join matches to a new feature it created new parcel features to allow the 1:M join.

I am trying to join parcelpoints, a feature class, to permits.dbf, which is a table. They are both in the same GDB and the field they have in common is parcel ID. A "Join" works well, 1 parcel to 1 permit and it works many parcels with 1 permit. However, it doesn't work with 1 parcel with many permits. I was thinking of doing a Relate? Instead of a Join? I am not sure. My overall goal is to get the parcel points feature class to have the information of the permits table. They have parcel ID as a common field. Then, while in the GDB I can "enable attachments" and connect PDF's to each parcel point due to the same name of the PDF's and the field Permit ID in my permits table. Then on AGOL I can symbolize the parcel points to "Permits" that are connected to the parcels. I am trying to use the Make Query Table Tool because that's what the other blogs have said to do but I am having trouble getting the table I want. To make it simple lets say I have a feature class and table where the table has an ID field and a permit number associated to it. Then the feature class has matching ID's with the table.

Ok I unchecked the box and when I used the copy features tool in model builder I still got all of the features to come through in the copy not just the ones that have joins to them. Is there another tool to do an export in model builder?

I have a slightly different problem from all of the other threads on this so here it goes. When I create a join between a .dbf file and a feature class then right click and export the data to a new feature class it gives me the option to only export the features that had a join associated with it. How I do that in model builder? I tried copy features and that didn't quite seem to have what I wanted. All I want is a new feature class with the old data and the joined data. I don't want the features that didn't receive a join.

I just got confronted by my manager and he asked me what processing power and desk top computer did I want to run ArcDesktop advanced. We store everything on server drives so I don't think I need much hard drive but I don't know much about computers and what makes them good. Any recommendations of how much power I really need? Thanks

These are all good reasons to look into. Like Dan said side by side comparison is needed of what the user wants to know which is better. Well I just got off the phone with Geomedia and found out there isn't a mobile application for there web mapping like Collector and there App for sending collected data down a workflow isn't offered for IOS software. For us the mobile data collection and updating of web maps is huge for speeding up the updates of feature class attributes. Thanks for all of the input!

Hi ESRI Community! My boss and coworkers are asking me about other software and I know I love ESRI but I don't have many legs to stand on. Compared to Geomedia how does ArcMap stack up. I need some solid arguments! Thanks

Abdullah, so if I don't remove the join my parcel layer will still be looking at my old excel table for the information and will still have the joined data associated with it. Once I remove the join my parcels will be back to just there original information. then from there I can rejoin the parcels to new information as it come up.

Abdullah, I made a few changes and actually got it to work. This is the new model I made to make it work. I need the Remove Join so the parcel table didn't have the same info joined to it every time I joined the new excel file.

So I do the join of the table and the feature class and it works. When I right click and look to remove join there is no join relationship there. Same goes for the using the remove join tool. It doesn't see a join. How can that be? The field are being joined based off one field and I see the new fields in the attribute table. Everything you have said I tried before you told me. I must just be missing a step. I am taking the New input parcel (ParcelGDB) making it a parameter to define it then saying remove the join making (ParcelGDB(4)) then adding the new join to add the excel data based off of a field creating (ParcelGDB(3))

I am using model builder to join the excel table I have with a parcel layer based on an ID field. However, every time I update my excel file and re-run the tool the data doesn't overwrite what was already in the parcel table. it just adds all of the fields to it again. Do I need to pull it out to python and add an overwrite function or is there a easy tool I can just drag into model builder to overwrite what is in the table. Please give a little insight of what is my best practice

Dan, Yes I agree excel isn't the best manager. We are trying to get away from it and put all of the data into arc.....its a process. Thank you for the help! I will just upload the excel file into my feature layer via the tool you described. I cant believe I forgot that tool. CHEERS!
