Hi George, I've established the connection to the postgres db successfully however when I try to create a query table I am unable to see the more than just table names in the db. The thought was that it may be a table name case issue but the names are lowercase and all fields within are lowercase. Is the problem that I am creating a query from a connection and not a gdb? Do I need to create a geodatabase from the postgres db connection first? TIA! Leslie

Update >> Discovered the issue is an issue of tables not being 'seen' because table names are mixed case. AGHHHH! I think I have read that there is not a workaround for this but please weigh in if you've had success somehow getting around it. The db I'm connecting to has several hundred tables (with many mixed case columns within them) and the ramifications of renaming are large. >>>>>I posted a couple wks ago about connecting from Pro v. 2.7.0 to an external PostgreSQL (non-spatial) database in order to access tables and perform queries only. I was able to successfully create a db connection with what I thought were 'data viewer' credentials but am unable to make a query table in Arc Pro because it appears that what I have access to are only "views" and not tables. The DBA said he gave me permissions to "create temporary tables" thinking that would suffice. Do I first need to create a database user for the geodatabase connection? If so, it gives me an error (-25) insufficient permissions when I try to do that. Can someone point me toward a solution, please? TIA! Leslie

Thanks again for replying, George. To clarify, I DO NOT need to create an enterprise database in order to query data and view schema, correct? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. So it looks like I need to be granted superuser status by the DBA in order to create a gdb (which seems necessary?) in ArcPro to establish the connection to the db?

Hi friends, my mission is to connect to a PostgreSQL (non-geo) database in Arc Pro v 2.7.0 in order to access the schema and perform queries only (read only/no write permissions and I am not the DBA). I have been researching how to do this and am still unclear about the process. I would like to be able to present information clearly to the DBA (who is not in the GIS field) so they can perform any necessary requirements for the connection on their end but I'm unable to find a clear outline of it. I am currently trying to piece together the process using troubleshooting questions on forums, etc but it seems like there must be a better way! Help appreciated!

Currently using ArcGIS Pro 2.4 The tool stops working and I have to restart Pro each time I need to georeference using this tool which is a pain in the arse. It's not worked properly in previous versions and was hoping there was a fix for this version but no dice. The prompt turns into crosshairs as if it's working properly but clicking does not add a control point. Always works properly for first time I use it in a session, but after that it only works a few times per session max. Anyone else experiencing this?

Update: In case anyone is following this... I did find a place where "Local" is an option. If you go to the Map Properties menu >> Coordinate Systems >> Create New Projected Coordinate System, there is an option for "Local" under the "Projection" field in the setting menu. Maybe this helps someone else!

I have tried in vain to set the coordinate system to "local" as it states ON THE ARC PRO website: Coordinate systems, projections, and transformations—Properties of maps | Documentation "Horizontal coordinate systems can be of three types: geographic, projected, and local." It also provides a PDF entitled "ArcGIS 10.8.0 and ArcGIS Pro 2.5 Projected Coordinate System Tables" in which the following is the listing for something called "Local": Alas, "Local" is not actually an option under Geographic, Projected, or a third option in ArcGIS Pro. I'm guessing the reason is the same as stated above??

Thanks for taking time to reply. That is unfortunate, indeed. Needless to say, I hope they decide to add that functionality as well! Leslie

I am working with archaeological data (specifically, a site map drawn in CAD) for a site whose real-world location is unknown. The site was excavated using an arbitrary grid with a datum of 0 easting and 0 northing. I know that the unit of measurement on the site was feet. Previously, I was able to work with similar files in ArcMap, where it was possible to work with CAD maps that did not have a defined coordinate system or projection and the map units could also be set to feet; however, this is not possible in Arc Pro for some reason: it seems the map units are read-only and set as meters and not feet. My question: Is this a bug? The file I'm working with will have no base map in the real-world. It is simply a site map in order to do intra-site analysis of map features using GIS. Thanks for input!

I'm working in ArcGIS pro. I brought in a CAD polyline that I've split into a grid of polygons using the "feature to polygon" tool. It worked well except I need to symbolize the polygon layer with a dot/dashed line boundary which looks "messy" because of overlapping adjacent polygon lines (i.e. the line looks solid where lines overlap). I've researched the issue on this forum and elsewhere and am still unsure of whether it's a symbology issue (solved by some sort of masking) or whether it's a polygon geometry issue. Thanks in advance!
