This sounds like potentially a different cause in your case as others would experience the crash the moment the map was opened. If possible, I would reach out to Esri Support to see if they can help narrow down the cause in your case. If this is happening in multiple maps, are there are common layers between them? If so, I would start by removing those. Just to clarify, did this only start occurring for you recently?

Thank you for clarifying. I have updated my post as this does seem to impact multiple basemaps from the Canada Community Basemaps group

Thank you for confirming. Yes, there will be an update but it remains to be seen whether this will happen at the app level (Field Maps) or an update to the basemaps themselves (or both). The team is actively investigating and I can provide an update here when we know more. There is an existing bug that you can reference or can Tech Support to be attached to: BUG-000185842

@KVD @GrantHoward1 what basemap is being used for the maps that are crashing? We have identified an issue with the Canada Topographic basemap that is leading to a crash. Can you please confirm if this is the basemap in the problematic maps? If not, is there a common basemap between them that you are using?

As Travis suggests, there is an issue with the Canada Community Vector Basemaps which is leading to a crash in Field Maps. The team is currently investigating. Can you confirm if this is the basemap you are using @TonyDaSilva1 ?

If these are ESRI basemaps that you have added to your Portal as an item, you would have still been impacted from this issue as you are still referencing those services. Can you confirm if thats the case? If these are you own basemaps using your own data, it sounds like the problem may be unrelated.

Hello, thanks for reporting this. Are you still experiencing issues today downloading offline areas? There were intermittent issues with the packaging servers yesterday which may have caused this, see: https://status.arcgis.com If you continue to see issues today please let us know. Thanks!

Hey @DougBrowning . I took a look on a 12.0 Portal, downloaded a few areas (both preplanned and on demand), and then removed them. I noticed one instance where our logging shows the unregister failed but I was simultaneously capturing the network traffic and that showed `success=true`. I checked at REST and confirmed that replica had been removed as well. From then on whenever I restarted Field Maps, or change connectivity, it tries to unregister that same replica which shows a new failure in the logs and a failure in the network traffic as the replica with that ID does not exist. I am not sure if this scenario is contributing to what you are seeing or not but it seems like something we need to investigate regardless. Just to note, you do not need verbose logging on to capture the [UNREGISTER] category in the logs. I am testing this more to see if I can get an actual failure resulting in an orphaned replica. I think it would help if you reach out to me directly via DM so we can coordinate via email. There are likely workflow/environment details that can help me reproduce what you are seeing. Thanks

Hi @EricaNova , thank you for the feedback. What is the blocker for you/your team to use Field Maps for Location Sharing? Is this related to previous comments about Admins not being provisioned for Location Sharing? the lack of support for location tracking and simultaneous point data collection in Field Maps. If provisioned for Location Sharing, you can collect tracks while collecting data (ie points) for other layers in your map. Can you perhaps add some clarification and maybe I can help more? Thanks

Updating an existing point should still populate the GPS metadata field as long as they are using the GPS location to update the point. They should ensure the GPS tool is active when updating the point and that they are not panning/zooming the map beforehand. For those features that are updated with missing metadata, is the "Position Source Type" field populated and what is the value? Please also let me know what mobile device is being used and the version of Field Maps. Thanks!

Thank you for these details and use cases >Having the phone decide where they're going to stop means that we have more consistent and reliable data What sort of devices are you using? Unless you are using high accuracy GPS to record and also to navigate to existing points, then there will be a level of error introduced. A phone by itself is only accurate about 2 meters at best

Hello, the current Profile is also shown in the Location Details (tap on the accuracy banner) of any map. I understand this is not on the actual map display but it is available within any map and a good way to double check your configuration and current location fix details. Depending on the coordinate systems of you data/map and the coordinate system of your Profile, there are also instances where Field Maps will show a warning when the map is opened if the configuration is incompatible, it sounds like in your instance this was not the case. There is currently no way to add this information to the map display or your feature attributes.
