I decided to export my models to python and run there. The values in the Models I created were continually changing and the Models would fail. I have to admit that this is really the first time I tried using Modelbuilder in PRO and I am totally underwhelmed! I would get the models working and then the next day I would try them again and they would fail some where. I would try to fix them but could not keep up with the failures! Having the code in python is much more reliable.

The feature classes that I am using are from different locations. One is in the FGDB for the project and the other is from our Enterprise GDB. The problem is intermittent and I have not run into it today. I am having many more issues with ModelBuilder and am not impressed! I am giving up on this for now. Thanks for the suggestion! Janice

I have tried recreating the join from tools and also from history. This seems to be an intermittent error and just a scratch on the surface of many issues with ModelBuilder.

ERROR 160091: The existing domain type does not match that of the updated domain. Failed to execute Add Join. I get this error in Pro, ModelBuilder. I am not doing anything with domains. I can successfully create a Join in my map and then drag the Add Join from history into modelbuilder. I remove the join in the map and run the join in modelbuilder. This error comes up and I have no idea what it is about. Has anyone else seen this behavior? If I leave Pro and restart it, this error may or may not go away. There is no reason for this. Thanks, Janice.

Hi all, I was just looking for the same thing. I am trying to select a route at a specific location so I can see what the measure value is. Drawing a box will not work because a want a point along the route. It sounds like maybe I can make my route symbology larger (wider) so I can pick a point easier. I will try that but really thought I would be able to set a selection tolerance. I am using ArcGIS Pro 2.8 in windows.

Hi All, I am playing around with routes in ArcGIS Pro 2.8.1. I found the documentation about using symbol layers to display the measures along a route. That works really well. Now, I would like to learn how to set scale dependency on the symbol layers so that the measure labels don't draw when I zoom out. I know that I can set a scale dependency on the entire layer, however, that turns off the entire layer and I just want to be able to turn off the measure labels. I keep referring to the measure "labels" when they are actually symbol layers... So, can I set scale dependency on symbol layers? I did look briefly at creating symbol layers for different zoom levels but am hoping that there is a simpler way to deal with measure labels. Thanks, Janice.

Hi All, I am new to using the route tools in ArcGIS Pro. I am using ArcGIS Pro 2.8.1 on a Windows 10 machine. I have a route that I am using to test the tools. The route was created from 5 polylines using the Make Route Tool. I was very happy to see that the route was created as a single route made up of 5 parts. I used some tool to create points at the start and end of each segment (I think it was called "Feature Vertices to Points"). I made an edit to the route and extended one end a few hundred feet. Next, I ran the Calibrate Route tool and selected points along the route that corresponded with the ends of the individual parts to use as calibration points. When the tool finished, I had a nice route with the measures at the calibration points held to their original measures. The issue I have is that the route is no longer made up of 5 parts. The tool merged 4 of the parts into 1 so the route now only has 2 parts. Is there anyway to prevent the Calibrate Route tool from merging the parts? Or, maybe there is a way to divide the route into parts that match the original parts. Thanks for any help or suggestions, Janice.

I have the same problem. I am using ArcGIS Server 10.8 (stand-alone) and Pro 2.8. Is it possible that issue is still an issue after more than a year! I'm really not surprised. Did you ever figure this out? Janice.

Just an update... I was able to add a feature to my feature service with the help of Ola from technical support. We did run into a bug in ArcGIS Pro 2.8 where the editor name is not immediately available in the Editor Tracking field. Ola discovered that the Feature Service had to be removed and re-added to the project for the editor name to show in the fields. It took closing and reopening the project for me to see the editor name. This has been submitted by Ola as a bug.

Hi Peter, Can you provide a link to the bug? I am unable to find it and want to see if it applies to an issue I am running into. Thanks, Janice.

Hi All, I am using ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 stand-alone Server and Enterprise Geodatabase. I am working in ArcGIs Pro 2.7 (until today when I updated to 2.8). We are windows and SQL Server users. I have a feature class of points with a subtype field and about 5 domains. When I tried to create a feature in Pro 2.7 I got an error much like to ones I have read about here. The new feature can not be created because the domain value is invalid. I returned to ArcCatalog and made sure that each of the domains had a default value and each of the 20 subtypes was using that default value. That was a major pain. After that I tried to create a feature again in Pro only to find that I must not have gotten all of the subtypes updated with the domain defaults. I read a post in here that explained how to use the Template Manager. That was the first I have ever heard of it. I went through each subtype again in the Template Manager and found a couple that I had missed. At this point, I am very sure that the subtypes and domains should no longer have issues. Turns out that this is true except that any settings I corrected with Template Manager were only corrected in that Pro Project. Now, I get a new error when trying to create a feature. The new error says that Error code:500 is happening and the applyEdits operation cannot complete due to an internal server error! I have attached the original error and the new error. I suppose my next step is to narrow things down a bit. I am tempted to change my subtype into a domain because setting a default domain value for each subtype is not really necessary for my project. I could also turn off editor tracking and ownership-based editing but before that I wanted to ask the Community if there is anyone out there that has been successful with Pro 2.7 and stand-alone Enterprise Server 10.8.1 along with editor tracking and ownership-base access. I was able to get this working a few months ago but am not able to now. Sorry for the long dialog! I would appreciate any help on this. I have read much documentation and do not really need to be given links to the documentation. I am looking for actual experiences to learn from since I have not been successful just reading the documentation! Thanks!

Hi @DanPatterson , I read through that information but am not excited about reverse geocoding or creating a locator at this time. I am looking into whether there is a tool already in Pro/arcpy to get input from the user when they click on the map. I was going to use that clicked point x,y to find the address on a route. Instead, I generated a table of events for my route and drew all of them on the route so the user could identify the one closest to the location they are addressing. My script gets the address points in the map extent, reads the route id from the address points, gets the address range from a sql table of routes, creates an event table from that information and then draws a point feature at each event location... I was hoping that there was a tool in Pro like the tool in ArcMap that gives you the address information at any point along the route... I may be remembering wrong and actually had locators setup in ArcMap. Thanks, Janice.

Hi @AlisonKelsey , Those links are related to ArcMap... I am trying to do this in Pro. Thanks for the info. I will read over them but don't believe that the GetParameter idea will work. Janice.

Hi All, I am trying to find a way to get user input for a python script. What I want to do is ask the user to select a point on the map and then use the x,y values in another step in the script. I have a feeling that ArcGIS Pro and arcpy do not have this capability, yet. What I am really looking for is to be able to get an address (or event) along a route at the location indicated by the user... So, I want the script to ask the user to select the location along the route that they want to know the closest address for. I have been able to create an event table using address points and displaying them on the route. I want to go the other way and determine what the address would be at the selected location. I know there was (or is) a tool in ArcMap which gives you an address along a route... still waiting for something like that in Pro. Thanks, Janice.

@DanPatterson I am not sure I understand... I can draw a graphic line with python in arcgis pro as long as I don't want to display it in a graphics layer? Not following. I have my script working by using a feature class. The feature class gets written over every time I run the script. It is doing exactly what I want except that it is not using graphics and a graphics layer. I was tasked with writing a script that would add graphics to the map view in pro. I will report back that it can not be done at 2.7. Anyone know when this will be available in ArcGIS Pro? Thanks to those who have replied. Janice.
