It is developed by ESRI. It is in their Repo. They say it is a joint project between Esri PDX R+D - Esri PDX and the ESRI community. There are other plugins that handle ESRI data developed by others - not ESRI.

Could work, but you have to write to text file first. maybe you could just call the python code from .NET and pass the string as a command line argument. Or use IronPython and combine .NET and Python in .NET or cimpile your .NET to DLL and call from python. IronPython.net / A short post I did on it Python in C# Using IronPython | Architecture and Planning

ConfigParser Here is a simple usage: Create the file label.ini with contents: [label1] name: Paul [label2] color: Red you can use it like this: >>> import ConfigParser >>> config=ConfigParser.ConfigParser() >>> config.read("C:\\Users\\me\\Desktop\label.ini") ['C:\\Users\\me\\Desktop\\label.ini'] >>> config.sections() ['label1', 'label2'] >>> name = config.get("label1","name") >>> name 'Paul' >>> color=config.get("label2","color") >>> color 'Red' >>>

With Sketchup 6 and Arcmap 9.3 there was a plugin that let you load GIS in Sketchup and Sketchup in GIS - it was really cool. the last time I used Sketchup in GIS was by creating models and then using them as markers (think you have to save the model as a COLLADA - but there are instructions everywhere). You create some points then set the marker as your 3D model. Last I heard, SketchUp got bought by anopther company so haven't used it in a while but think it could be the best option if you don't have CityEngine. The old plugin used multipatch geometry, so if you can find a way to multipatch the skethup model you should be able to bring it in other than as a marker.

When you execute in VB it closes when done - which is usually what you want when calling from an external program. the /K keeps it open cmd /K C:\anaconda\python.exe C:\users\me\desktop\line.py arg1 arg2

Make your internet connection faster and the number of layers and features smaller. Seriously. It all depends on how much data you are loading. You could try caching on arcserver?

That looks like it should work. If it doesn't you may need to add arcpy.env.workspace = "c:/data" #wherever the files are or use the path as a parameter.

you would need an id to join on. I did a quick test and grabbed a DWG from Autodesk AutoCAD Sample Files | AutoCAD | Autodesk Knowledge Network I get this in GIS the properties are If you can use refname (on the lights the property is Flourescent Fixture - dont know how to set it in CAD) you wold be good. Otherwise, you would have to do something crazy like put each segment on its own layer or make it a unique color. You could convert the CAD to a shapefile and add a field to join on.

Looks good. On the python side, import sys. Then you will have an array named sys.argv. You don't have to do anything to add data to it, it is already there. sys.argv[0] will be the file name (ExceltoDBF.py) [1] through will be the command line arguments. So think of the args as being indexed at 1.

James is right. The answer is to pass args to the python script from the command line. The only other option is using Iron Python, but that is overkill. Just accept args and then use the process execute python.exy myprogram.py param1 param 2....

If it returns [object], which it should on evt.result['feature'], then just change the code to evt.result.feature and then it will return the keys for that object (geometry being one).

You could probably use the JavaScript console in Chrome (f12) or just put this code in: It will alert each key and the value. for (var key in evt.result){ alert(key+": "+evt.result[key]);}

I was able to enable attachments and publish the service. I can add an attachment through the REST API and see it in arcMap, but I cannot see it in the REST API or in an arcgis.com map. the map shows the image name but when clicking the link (or browsing to the image in the REST API) I get Server Error - The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. Code: 500. Why can't the server find the image? http://Myserver/ArcGIS/rest/services/AttachImage1/FeatureServer/0/3/attachments/5 Server Error But I can see them
