Hi Zian, Thank you for posting this question. Looking forward to the future it will be recommended to try workflows previously done in ArcMap in ArcGIS Pro. However, publishing gp services to an ArcGIS Server that is federated with a Portal instance is still possible. Once the item is finished it will show up in Portal under the publisher's content. Additionally the rest service URL can be added as an item to Portal. Once added you can share to the desired groups for use. I hope this information helps.

Hi Jeremiah, Thank you for posting this question. However, given the complexity that comes with configuring Portal to use a SAML IDP and adding groups automatically. This may be better suited in the scope of a support case.

Read only can be controlled by adding data from a rest endpoint to portal as a Map Image Layer to Portal. This would be adding the map server service, which when added as an item to Portal will be a Map Image Layer. Feature layers allow for editing. Hope this helps.

Hi Andrew, Thank you for posting this question. Generally speaking if a workflow is functional in ArcGIS Online, but not in Portal. It can be boiled down to the version in use. As Portal uses the same source code of ArcGIS Online, new functionality does find its way into Portal eventually as new releases become available. Can you confirm what version of Portal is being used in this workflow?

How Yuriy, Thank you for posting this question. I'm assuming the tables you mention reside in the Database. If so, so long as they are available through a rest endpoint such as ArcGIS Server. Then permissions should be setup at the Portal tier for the application to be work it as a 'Feature Layer' in portal. It's important to distinguish where users will be consuming the data from, will this be from Portal or ArcGIS Server? If Portal, then once users have logins created from them. Layers can be added to groups for users to have access to them and make edits as necessary. I hope this addresses your question. Please let us know if there's any other clarification needed.

Hi Richard, Thank you for posting this question. The workflow you outline should add the members access to the site page automatically. This assumes the members of the group already exist. Was the group created with adding members automatically? Or are they being added via invitation?

Hi Jason, Thank you for posting this question to the GeoNet community. The answer to this question is that it depends. While a feature service can be published to ArcGIS Server with a table join linking two data tables together and making them accessible via rest as a read only layer in Portal. Adding this to Operations Dashboard, should, be possible to use with filtering by 'not inspected' points. However, one of the limitations with this type of workflow, is that the joined table cannot be edited from the REST point. If the data is hosted by Portal, then you can try running a join from the Analysis with the tables in map viewer. As you identify, this will create a new layer, which can then be used in Ops Dashboard. For more information on the Join Feature analysis tool, please see our documentation here: Join Features—Portal for ArcGIS | ArcGIS Enterprise.

Hi John, Thank you for posting this to the question to GeoNet. Are you able to provide any other details as to what kind of logins are being used by this Portal Instance? Enterprise logins using SAML? Integrated windows auth? Or Portal built in users. Or is PKI involved with this deployment? As Rachel Sears mentioned, fiddler would show more information as to what is occurring. However, it would require additional configuration. Please ensure that fiddler has been configured to decode encrypted SSL traffic by using this guide Configure Fiddler to decrypt HTTPS traffic | Progress Telerik Fiddler.

Hi Joesph, Thanks for posting your question to GeoNet for other members of the community to see. The question "Is there an option in the webmap to know which group a webmap is assigned to? Preferable in the "Webmap" settings or other". Should be possible by viewing the WebMap item details page. Then under the sharing properties will display which groups this item is shared with. Hope this helps.

Hi Wim, Thanks for posting this question to GeoNet. Does this happen when adding a tiled basemap service from AGOL to a webmap in Portal? If so, then most likely the credentials were not cached/no longer valid, when added as an item to Portal. To correct this you would need to remove the existing item from Portal. Then re-add the service as an item. This should prompt Portal to check if the service is secured and open a dialog box asking if you wish to store credentials. To prevent users when using this item you will need to select 'Store credentials' and provide your AGOL credentials. I hope this information helps.

Hi Jamie, Thanks for the follow up. A possible workaround to the prompt is to configure the Portal for ArcGIS Site to use third party SAML provider to handle authentication. Then configure client browsers to log on to sites with enterprise credentials. Or to configure Portal with Integrated Windows Authentication, and like wise configure the client browser to log on automatically with enterprise credentials. If using Portal built in users, the sign in prompt will appear and direct users to the logon page hard coded to Portal. Hope this information helps.

Hi Nicholas, Thank you for posting this issue to GeoNet. I believe there maybe an issue in terms of compatibility between the web adaptor and the underlying tomcat web server. According to the documentation: https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/system-requirements/10.6/linux/arcgis-web-adaptor-system-requirements.htm. Web Adpator at 10.6.X should be used with tomcat version 7.0.82 at a minimum. I hope this information helps.

Hi Jamie, Accessing Sites created from Portal for ArcGIS should be accessible via their URL provided they have been shared with the public. In addition to the site URL being made public, the app, webmap, and underlying data must also be made public to be accessed with out a prompt. I hope this information helps.

To my knowledge, restricting users ability to publish to a particular machine is outside of the current security settings of the software. Perhaps this might be better accomplished at the domain level through either network rules or domain group policies.

Hi Patrick, Thank you for posting this question. When configuring a distributed enterprise environment, only one designated federated server can be configured as the hosting server. This is currently how the enterprise software is deployed. Such a configuration also requires use of the ArcGIS Data-store product to be configured with an ArcGIS Server and will be set as the managed database. To reiterate, you can have as many federated servers as you are able to allocate. However, there can be only one hosting server. In order to control publishing this would be done through the use of Portal Roles. I hope this information is helpful.
