Almost working, but got an error on overwrite. The code: pointsFeatureLayer = gis.content.get("[pointslayerguid]")
pointsLayer = pointsFeatureLayer.layers[0]
points_buffer = use_proximity.create_buffers(pointsLayer,
field='CHANGE_TOL',
units='meters',
output_name="Buffer_m4")
points_buffer_itemID = gis.content.get(points_buffer.id)
existingBufferFeatureLayer = gis.content.get("[bufferlayerguid]")
existingBufferLayer = existingBufferFeatureLayer.layers[0]
existingBufferLayer.manager.truncate()
feature_layer_collection = FeatureLayerCollection.fromitem(existingBufferFeatureLayer)
feature_layer_collection.manager.overwrite(points_buffer_itemID) {'error': 'Cannot find related data item used to publish this feature layer'}

Hi. I can't see how this directly overwrites the existing feature layer. I need it to simply update the buffer based on a field (as this field is constantly updated) without creating a new item (which is part of a map). Is this possible? Sorry this is all a bit new for me but I couldn't get the code above to do this. So far I generate the buffer like this: from arcgis.gis import GIS gis = GIS("home") points_item = gis.content.get("pointsID") points_item from arcgis.features import use_proximity #access the first layer in points_item points_layer1 = points_item.layers[0] points_buffer = use_proximity.create_buffers(points_layer1, field='buffer', units='meters', output_name="Buffer_m") I need this output to overwrite an existing layer buffer_m

Thanks. Do you know why I can't take this layer offline to collector or field maps?

I have a feature layer which I need people in the field (so using field maps/collector) to be able to able to move geometry (points) if need but not add or delete. I also need new records to be allowed to be added to the related table. When I published the feature layer and related table I can only control the editing as one. So, if I turn on 'add' then people can add new points to the parent layer/table which I don't want but they will be able to add new records to the related table (which we need). If i don't allow 'add' then I can't add records to the related table. How do I allow 'updates feature attributes only' for the feature layer but also allow 'add' and 'update' for the related table only. I tried publishing the table and feature layer separately to change the settings for each but then it's not recognised as a relationship. I'm sure lots of people are doing this so I must be overlooking something.

I have a feature layer in AGOL that contains points, and have scripted in jupyter for buffers to be generated based on one of the fields (proximity analysis) and then output a polygon feature layer with these buffers. My problem is that I need to automate the buffers throughout the day (as data is changed for the field that the buffers are generated from). How do I get the output to overwite the existing feature layer each time the buffers are calculated? This is the script I have to generate the buffers. Just need it to overwrite the output name. buffer= use_proximity.create_buffers(itembuffersgeneratedfrom_layer1, field='buffer_field', units='meters', output_name="Buffered_Points")

There is a Jan 03 update of what's coming next for smart forms but I was unable to find release dates for these. Does anyone know when these will be rolled out? I was counting on attribute rules and FeatureSet being released in December. My current limitations for offline use of Field Maps at the moment are: I need the most recent status that is updated in a related table to be auto-populated in the main table as Current_Status, also so that the symbology can be updated immediately in the field (i.e. red to green when the status is changed). I also need it to be a requirement that a photo is taken each time the status is changed in the related table. Is it also possible to record location coordinates (X,Y) in such a related table (without adding points to the map)?

Thanks Xander. I need to record what the project status was changed to and when the project status was changed (for each change). The symbology needs to automatically update in collector so a Pro field calculation can't be used and updating the feature itself won't record these changes I believe, unless both the related table and feature is updated with the same/similar data (and likely the user will only update one). Are you able to confirm if attribute rules (including FetaureSetBy) will be fully supported in the new Field Maps Ap?
