Smart Mapping. Smart Mapping. Karten erstellen, Daten symbolisieren – intuitiv einfach gut.

Hi Jamie, please be sure to deauthorize ArcGIS licenses before you set up Windows newly. The webhelp: ArcGIS 10.3 Authorizing ArcGIS single-use products and features—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop under the section "Terminating authorization" the workflow didn´t change so you should see the same buttons in ArcGIS 10.2.x... After re-installing Windows please just go ahead with authorizing ArcGIS again. Kind regards, Anna ******************** Tech Support Esri Germany

Hi Jan, Labels are the last item which is drawn on a map in ArcMap. You can prevent label overplacing Annotations by using Feature Weight , see here ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) Annotations are features, therefor you can use that option. Another way is described here: Esri Mapping Centre - Ask a Cartographer hope that helps. Kind regards, Anna ************************************* Technical Support Esri Germany

Hi Ninabean, looks like you are facing NIM011332: Zooming into a small scale causes BMP marker fill symbology to disappear. The picture marker fill symbology will not print, export, or display in ArcMap when the data is zoomed to a very large scale. You could try if the symbol looks better when converting it to *.emf (or *.jpg, *.png, *.tif when using ArcGIS 10.2.x). For some symbols, you will find multiple graphic files available for your use in the ArcGIS Pictures folder already. Since these may be scaled differently, you can choose the one that best works for the scale of your map. Within a small test it helped on my machine to export the symbol once again into a style and "re-use" that symbol. But that is unfortunately not an 100% solution.... it is not helping every symbol. Hope these information help you, Anna ************************ Technical Support Esri Germany

Hi there, I´d like to ask for some more background information: - is on that specific machine ArcGIS as well running? If yes, which version? - ArcGIS also connects to your license server? If yes, does it start correctly? Opening ArcGIS Administrator you can see on tab Availability the concurrent use licenses of your license server for City Engine 2012? Did you try to open CityEngine as Administrator? Same error message? - You recall as any change the update of your campus license. No other other changes of that machine, correct? Kind regards, Anna *********************** Technical Support Esri Germany

Hi Zane, some more information would be great - on which OS did you install CE 2013? Is it a "fresh" install or had you already CE 2012 running on that machine? Is ArcGIS installed? IF yes, which version? Did you try to start your authorization via SoftwareAuthorization.exe as well? (usually found within C:\Program Files\Esri\CityEngine2013\bin) Regards, Anna ************************ Technical Support Esri Germany

It would be helpful to know some facts like which version of ArcGIS / CE were installed? On which OS? Which version would you like to re-install? Did you try to run PatchFinder? with this utility we would know which "snippets" or debris of your previous installations are maybe still left on your machine... Where to download PatchFinder? http://support.esri.com/en/downloads/patches-servicepacks/view/productid/66/metaid/2009#idsp Maybe this utility ArcGIS 10.2 Final Uninstallation Utility for Windows could help you as well: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/uninstall-guides/102FinalUninstallUtilityGuide.html Regards, Anna ************************ Esri Germany Technical Support

Hi Floris, thanks for your update. I understand it correctly that CityEngine 2013 is working fine on windows 8.1? I agree, in correct (Support) wording it is a workaround - but I would consider it still a solution if the other users can update to 2013 AND have the same result of a working envorinment 🙂 Kind regards and a good New Years Eve! Hi Avi, straightforward: no. If you are willing to go a workaround: maybe. Talking about point symbols you could use this workflow: - symbolizing one point with your wished for Representation - zooming as near as you need - snapshot that "image" - store it as a bmp/emf (if using ArcGIS 10.2: /png/ jpg/gif work as well) - re-import that picture as a picture marker symbol Talking about line and polygon: just to name few concepts which are not supported of "Standard" symbology: Geometric Effects and Marker Placement Even converting to Graphics and back to Features is not working Regards, Anna ************************ Esri Germany Technical Support

Hi Eduardo allright, it sounds like a compatibility issue - as I said (currently) I can just provide theoretical knowledge in that matter CE 2012.1 on Windows 8.1. --> great that ArcGIS 10.2 is working on your machine as it is not offically supported by sysreq. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/system-requirements/10.2/index.html#/ArcGIS_for_Desktop/015100000002000000/ Well, due that your commercial license is stuck I strongly recommend to contact Esri TechSupport via your university account. Further actions are needed to untangle your situation and these steps need to be taken with your TechSupport. Remotely I cannot help out further.... Good morning Eduardo, your config file looks fine - it´s a Single Use Advanced 🙂 (Still question remains: do you use a trial (EVA) or a commercial (ESU) license? Dependent of that info it´s easier to consider the next steps.) The fourth line we can ignore - that´s essential when you are using floating licenses coming from a license server... Anyhow. What does your ArcGIS Adminsitrator say? Do you have the same trouble like Barnie to repair your license, meaning the repair function is not working correctly? Do you run CityEngine 2012.1 as a stand-alone installation or side-by-side with ArcGIS 10.x? If ArcGIS, which version? Please note: I don´t have a Windows 8.1 machine so I don´t have practical "hands on" experience with that configuration... Again I recommend to contact your local TechSupport as well. Hi Barnie I would recomment to contact your local support - but: short look into system req´s shows that CE 2012.1 is currently not supported on Windows 8.1. So TechSupport could fall back to that statement "not supported on that OS"... http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/system-requirements/10.1/index.html#/Esri_CityEngine/01510000008n000000/ What kind of license do you use? SU? CU? Or an EVA? Did you try to de-authorize your license? (Coming from the ArcGIS side I would guess "not possible" - that would be true for ArcGIS anyway.) Well, an installation is not "updating" the license info - what does your esriLicense.config file show? Found within your User Profile, on Windows 8.1 should be that destination: C:/users/ Anyhow, I would try to get Tech Support working on it - if your license is stuck they can take further actions. Hi all, it could help if you install the patch http://support.esri.com/en/downloads/patches-servicepacks/view/productid/186/metaid/1929 which was created for the combination ArcGIS 10.0 / CityEngine 2012. This patch helped in various incidents for the combination ArcGIS 10.2 / CityEngine 2012. It has to do with the information about which version number is included when authorizing your software - you can check that by opening an authorize.txt. Compatible versions are: CityEngine 2011 / ArcGIS 10.0 -> authorize.txt will show "version=10.0" CityEngine 2012 / ArcGIS 10.1 -> authorize.txt will show "version=10.1" / ArcGIS 10.2 -> authorize.txt will show "version=10.2" So trying to authorize a CityEngine 2012 on a machine on which ArcGIS 10.2 is installed - it will generate "version=10.2". And that one entry will lead to your observed problems of authorizing CityEngine.... Hope I shed some light into this, Anna ************** Esri Germany Technical Support

Hi Sebastien, do you experience this missing search within all MXD? Do you have a chance to test it on a second machine? If the search is correct on other machines then it could be that your Esri profile is kinda corrupted, to test that please rename the folder ESRI to ESRI_old and open ArcMap again. (The folder ESRI is found on a Windows 7 machine: C:\Users\<user_account>\AppData\Roaming or Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\<user_account>\Application Data\Esri\ ) Note: this renaming will reset your Esri user profile. regards, Anna

What do you do when the information you need is not within the ArcGIS 10.1 web help? Or the information is for ArcGIS 10.0?Web Help One trick I use often when receiving web help links in English from is to look at the URL. For example, in this URL, notice the en for English: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/#/What_is_ArcGIS/00v200000007000000/ By just changing the small, but important, en to de (for German) I can access the localized help link in German:http://help.arcgis.com/de/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/#/What_is_ArcGIS/00v200000007000000/ Languages that are implemented at ArcGIS 10.0 web help:
Other Support ResourcesThe web help is just a small portion of the vast knowledge available for ArcGIS. There are also language-based Sub Forums on the ArcGIS Resource Center, or your Esri distributor can provide translated product information. In some instances, a collection of technical articles in your mother tongue may be available from your local distributor. For example, on the Esri Germany Support Site, you can find information about installation, authorization or special needs like transformations between coordinate systems. Just have a look!Anna Schwabedal - Esri Germany Support |
