Great news! Thank you for the update, Melissa! I think having a default connection type will be a big help and improvement.

Makes sense, thank you! I didn't realize they were effectively "dummy" options in ArcMap.

We have noticed that Pro does not have a parameter/environment setting for "Maintain Attachments" or "Reserve GlobalIDs" in the Spatial Join tool, but the same tool in ArcMap has both of these environment settings. We are using ArcMap version 10.8.1 and ArcGIS Pro version 2.6. Both output feature types were feature class (not shapefile). Any ideas why these environment settings are missing from Pro or what the rationale/logic was in not including them for this tool while others still have it available?

Thanks Adam. I think the RDBMS solution might be the best option for this scenario. I appreciate the link!

My use case is this: We are looking at streaming incoming outage data from either a table or a REST URL. The data does not contain any spatial component other than address and a "region" field. I have investigated the use of the the dynamic output relationship class using the geocode addresses geoprocessing tool in ArcMap so that the incoming addresses could be output to an address table in our geodatabase and dynamically geocoded as new rows are inserted, but this seems to be a depreciated functionality that we can't get to work. The other option would be to use that "region" field on the incoming data to map the data at a lower fidelity level than street addresses. What I need is a way to summarize the total count of events/records coming through for each region so that the output table in our geodatabase can be constantly updated with a numeric sum value for each region. That table can then be joined to the polygon feature class we have showing the regions and then be symbolized by count from the join table. Any suggestions for how to accomplish this in GeoEvent or otherwise?

Hi Jake, I'm attempting something very similar to Xiuju in ArcMap 10.5.1/10.6.1 (I have/have tried both). For now, I'm just trying to set up the preliminary geocoding schema/workflow in my geodatabase prior to setting up in GeoEvent Server. I ran the Geocode Addresses tool on my address table with the Dynamic Output Feature Class parameter checked, which produced the expected relationship class and output feature class of geocoded results. Now when I attempt to edit a new row into the initial address table, I'm getting the error message "Could not insert new record". After Googling, I found this result which references VBA and mentions that the locator used is unavailable. I thought maybe the locator needed to be in the same workspace as everything else, but I see that ability has been deprecated as of 10.5.1. Any ideas how I can get this to work?

I'm not sure what the APR extension you're referring to is, but the Utility Network requires the Utility Network Management Extension because it works using a services-based architecture and branch versioning. Having the UN Management Extension allows for version management over services as opposed to via direct connections to the database, as well as other capabilities that allow the user to administer, analyze and edit the UN. https://www.esri.com/content/dam/esrisites/en-us/media/pdf/Essential%20Gas%20Pipe%20Network%20Data%20Management%20in%20A…

We're in the process of implementing the Utility Network and have made dozens of model changes as we add additional rules, make domain changes, append data, etc. One recurring, frustrating thing that keeps happening is when we open a Project Template in ArcGIS Pro to make the changes, or a new user connects to the geodatabase hosting the UN, Branch Versioning is not automatically set as the versioning type. We have seen this cause numerous cryptic error messages, and issues that get propagated along until we figure out that we forgot to change a new database connection to Branch Versioning (even if the UN has resided in the database for some time). My idea or suggestion is that when the "Stage Utility Network" geoprocessing tool is run, it automatically locks that geodatabase down to Branch Versioning only. Since the UN must be Branch Versioned, it makes sense to do this at the stage where you prepare your database to contain a UN.

Can someone confirm or explain how the Utility Network Management Extension gets installed, since it's an ArcGIS Enterprise Extension? Is there an installer file available for download on My Esri?

Hi Andreas, we're having a similar issue in ArcGIS Desktop 10.5, using the Data Interoperability Extension/FME. We get the same error message when run in Python. What was the solution to your problem? Thanks, Adrien

Hi Steve, I ended up figuring it out without having to call. First, the Shape field is only available for display in pop-ups in Map Image Layers/Map Services, not in Feature Layers/Feature Services (not sure why). With regard to the zoom to not showing up/being available in the Attribute Table widget, we had to make sure the layer was turned on for viewing in the Layer List widget. Our case seemed like a simple oversight on my part. I hope yours is solved just as easily! Adrien

Hi Karisa, Thanks for the information! That's what I figured the case was since I know most new technology is introduced on the AGOL platform prior to Enterprise, but just wanted to be sure. Thanks, Adrien

Is the Vector Basemap editor only available for users with AGOL accounts currently? Will this functionality be available for ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal) users in the future?
