With the release of ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6 and ArcGIS Pro 2.1, the Utility Network Management extension is offered as a comprehensive solution to managing utility and telecom networks (telecom model not available with first release). Core tools within the Utility Network Toolbox can be used to create and configure the utility network. For automation purposes, the Utility Network Package Tools from the ArcGIS solutions team are available with asset packages for electric, gas, and water domains.

Upgrading the asset package is unrelated to the data model. It's similar to upgrading your geodatabase -- it's just changing the schema of the underlying A_ and B_ tables for example.

Unless you need to take advantage of new geodatabase / UN functionality, upgrading is not necessary.

Paul,

Is there a 'What's New in Utility Network' page somewhere that goes through all of the above you mentioned (eg. advantage of new geodatabase, UN functionality) to help explain what the changes are?

I know about the pages that contain the release notes for the model (http://solutions.arcgis.com/electric/help/electric-utility-network-configuration/get-started/release...) & here for untools (https://solutions.arcgis.com/utilities/help/utility-network-automation/get-started/release-notes-2-3...). Was hoping for a more consolidated approach and how it all ties in together especially with the geodatabase advances.

Thanks

Hi All,

What is the difference between this extension APR extension? and in order to build a hydrocarbon transmission pipelines network, do I need both extinctions or APR would be enough?

Third question, would UPDM 2019 accommodate on-line data transmitted from the filed like sensors signals that pushed to the database either on time intervals or per occurred events (e.g. leak alarm)

I'm not sure what the APR extension you're referring to is, but the Utility Network requires the Utility Network Management Extension because it works using a services-based architecture and branch versioning.  Having the UN Management Extension allows for version management over services as opposed to via direct connections to the database, as well as other capabilities that allow the user to administer, analyze and edit the UN.

APR (ArcGIS Pipeline Referencing) defines the network by linear referencing.  The utility network defines the network by connectivity.   Depending on how you want to represent your pipeline you may want to use either one or both together.

Best to ask the UPDM question here - https://community.esri.com/docs/DOC-13587-updm-2019-edition

Attempting to deploy a solution and after I select my coordinate system, the deployment counts up to 60 and then returns with a "failed to deploy" message.  Attempting to deploy the Electric Distribution Data Management for ArcGIS Online.
