I often need to create Table Views of linear feature class (FC) attribute tables to either create secondary geometric features (eg line centroids based on XY attributes, or linear referencing (LR) point or line events based on From/To chainage fields), or to use as tabular input to geoprocessing tools that require a table as input. Unfortunately, Table Views in ArcGIS Pro that do not include the Shape field are still classed as a Feature Class datatype, and not as a table, causing GP tools such as the LR Event Overlay tools to fail. The workaround is to copy these table views to a physical file on disk or in memory, which is an inefficient consumption of memory and disk I/O resources. My request is for Table Views that exclude the original Shape field to be classed as tables, and for the shape type of any geometry derived from these table views (such as XY point events) to override the original FC shape type.

I've tried the format-date function as described and it works 100% if using the app, but returns an "Invalid date" string if my survey is opened in the web browser: format-date(once(now()), '%Y%m%d%H%M') Is this expected behaviour? I haven't seen any indication that format-date functions don't work in the browser.

This looks very useful. I've managed to get the original script version adapted to Python 2.7 and working fine, but the updated version falls over for me at the GetMaxDate function with the message written to the error log: 'outStatistics' parameter is invalid I get the same error if I try using the REST API interactively to query my survey layer, which is a stock-standard Survey123 layer with the following capabilities: I'm not that familiar with the REST interface, but I basically added in the same parameters the script passes to the requests url. Any suggestions, or does anyone else have this problem? ismael chivite #james tedrick

It's important to note that email.message.Message() in Python 2.7 requires the recipients as a single comma-delimited string, while smtp.sendmail requires a list of individually quoted recipient addresses: eMailFrom = "me@myco.com" eMailTo = ["Joe@smtp1.com", "Jane@smtp2.com"] if type(eMailTo) is list: toStr = ', '.join(eMailTo) else: toStr = eMailTo (A single recipient can be either a string or a list of length 1 for sendmail). Example: msg = Message() #note: different from EmailMessage() in Python 3 msg['From'] = eMailFrom msg['To'] = toStr msg['Subject'] = 'Message subject' msg.set_payload(messagetext) #note: different from set_content in Python 3 . . #send the email via SMTP server ss1: ss1.sendmail(eMailFrom, eMailTo, msg.as_string())

Sad but most probably true...as one of the most ardent exponents of linear referencing from Workstation and AV3/Avenue days, I am deeply concerned at the apparent lack of support by ESRI for one of their finest analytical toolsets for linear infrastructure across most of the new platforms - from AGOL feature services to ArcGIS Pro. Bugs are even creeping into long-established Desktop LR tools... haulem

I have exactly the same problem. The tool works fine in Desktop 10.5.1, accepting a linear input layer and point overlay layer, but in Pro 2.1, whenever you change/set one event type, they both change.

Hi James, we would very much like to get the python script you say you have developed to extract the data directly out of the .SQLite database...I'm not sure if my colleague nick.moore has already asked?

It has always seemed counter-intuitive to me the way ESRI implement the default mouse scroll direction to be forward-roll, zoom out. However, every Desktop app, including ArcMap, ArcScene, ArcGlobe, ArcGIS Explorer and ArcReader, have always had an option somewhere in the Customise or Options menu to change this behaviour to forward-roll, zoom in. Until recently, that is. This option has now been dropped from ArcReader since one of the early 10.x releases, and is driving me and my users nuts. Can we please have this back?

I see this issue was first raised in November 2016 by Jonathan Pendleton - but reported solved going from version 1.8 to 1.9! The underlying issue seems to be that attachments are managed by a composite 1:Many relationship class, whereas the scenario described is actually a Many:Many association between attachments and surveys. Having a junction table between the image attachment table & parent table would allow the association record to be deleted while preserving the image saved as a blob in the attachment table. This would be a more elegant solution than cloning copied images, which could blow out data storage and upload bandwidth requirements and result in unnecessary duplication of images.
