I recently created my first operations dashboard for use with Survey123 and was a bit disappointed to find i couldn't create reports or export any data. It would be super helpful for if you could create custom reports and export your filter selections in dashboard to a csv file.
@Jones_AJ This idea was closed when we implemented the ability to download a (filtered) csv file. We felt this addressed the the original ask (i.e. the thread's first post). There many ongoing discussions/ideas that remain open/active for things like reporting, exporting, printing, etc. Here are are some of the more popular ones:

Please feel free to share your thoughts in these (or other) threads, create new ones for any unique requirements you may have. Also, another way to send requirements directly to the Dashboards team is dashboards@esri.com
@QuantitativeFuturist nailed it. @DerekLaw may have been overthinking what @Maxine_Jonckheere was asking, this doesn't need to be an overcomplicated reporting tool that requires template set up and hours of troubleshooting. The ability to print your current map view with whatever is being filtered would be fantastic, obviously small customizations would be appreciated, as Maxine said. Yes, screenshotting is a workaround, but it's just that, a workaround. Derek suggested just sharing the Dashboard with the people that Maxine said do not have easy access to the Dashboard, not exactly a helpful suggestion. I would imagine some organizations would want to provide a direct sharing link to a Dashboard for outside users, without having to share all content publicly.
As of 12/5/22, Derek is not a member of the Dashboard team, and is not working on this product anymore. @patrickb marked this as implemented so I suppose this post is dead. Perhaps they do not wish to enable users to generate exhibits, reports, deliverables, etc. without spending ESRI credits?
@Maxine_Jonckheere @DerekLaw I think esri staff missed the point here and were patronizing and dismissive to Maxine. ESRI doesn't think printing and exporting PDF reports or maps is important. The fact is, it's a key requirement for many businesses to have export options to share with external or non GIS users. ESRI needs a proper reporting and exporting framework that can be used across all of the web apps.
The ability to download a CSV file from data-driven dashboard elements was added in the September 2021 release of ArcGIS Online. This functionality is targeted for ArcGIS Enterprise in 2022. If you have enhancement requests for the implemented functionality, please submit a separate/new idea for tracking purposes.
Hi Maxine,
Apologies for the late reply. It's been hectic at work the last week. Thanks for the feedback. Some comments,> With reporting capability I mainly mean the capability to share the complete dashboard or seperate elements, as you see it, so with filters applied
Can you not take a screenshot of the dashboard with the filters applied as a workaround?> On the dashboard we drafted, there are a lot of hidden charts (several tabs) and a big list to scroll through, so it would be important that they are all visualized in a pdf This would be very difficult to implement, there would be too much variability to consider when trying to format into a report. Might be easier to simply give them access to the dashboard itself.
> Any idea on when the new Beta version would be released?
The next ArcGIS Dashboards beta update should be coming out early next year.
Hope this helps and happy holidays,
Hi Derek,
Thank you for your reply. With reporting capability I mainly mean the capability to share the complete dashboard or seperate elements, as you see it, so with filters applied for example, in a decent layout. On the dashboard we drafted, there are a lot of hidden charts (several tabs) and a big list to scroll through, so it would be important that they are all visualized in a pdf (or Excel) on different pages (or tabs) for example. The more custimizing (also titles in the report, etc.) the better of course. This to provide information to colleagues that do not necessarily have access to the dashboard but still need the same information/conclusions.
Any idea on when the new Beta version would be released?
Thanks a lot and enjoy the holidays.
Maxine
> the reporting tool is really a MUST because not everyone has access to the dashboard and it is of high importance to share this information with remote colleagues to discuss results.
"Reporting capability" in ArcGIS Dashboards is a pretty broad and vague requirement. If you could please share your specific workflows on what exactly you would like to do, that would be helpful. On the original idea submitted,
> Add reporting and ability to export to CSVThis is planned and on the short term Dev roadmap. It will be added to a future update of ArcGIS Dashboards Beta.Hope this helps and happy holidays,
Operations Dashboards could be a huge benefit for our operations. However, the reporting tool is really a MUST because not everyone has access to the dashboard and it is of high importance to share this information with remote colleagues to discuss results. Therefore there is a big chance that Operations Dashboard will not be used because it lacks the detailed reporting capability, which is a big shame and waste of investment. I read this before so I don't understand as well why Esri doesn't enable this option, after years of requests to do so. Is there any recent update on this? @DerekLaw
Yes! I have been creating dashboards for researchers primarily and they constantly ask "How can I get the data out!". Our clients love the ability to explore and visualize data through the dashboard, but need to be able to download filtered data to a .csv for further analysis or to create custom, publication quality figures. Right now, our work around is a separate database interface where data can be filtered again and then downloaded to a .csv. Ideally, this would all be done through the dashboard in a single place!
The ideal feature might be a data download widget. If dashboard builders didn't want users to have access to the data, they would simply not add this widget. It would be handy to configure the widget so that only certain users might be able to download data (user groups could be defined in AGOL).
What I would like to be able to do is upload a CSV to the operations dashboard with non-map data to be able to visualize easily different categories and make it part of the the ArcGIS Hub Site. This way I can report progress and have it tied to an updating data source.
I have clients ask for these capabilities. They want to export a csv list or report weekly from their dashboard instead of having to go into an application, filter down the data that are already displayed in indicators and lists in the OpsDashboard, select and export the data. This would be VERY USEFUL!
Dashboards that I create is for C-level and Project Managers Only. It is for viewing only. All the filters that suits their needs are already applied, however, they love to have the ability to extract the information and make their own analysis.
Our Engineering department uses dashboard for viewing field inspection data (Roads, Sidewalks, etc). Having the ability to pull filtered data in csv for reporting purposes would be extremely helpful.
Considering the hyper-focus on dashboards related to COVID19 data I am sincerely disappointed by ESRI's lack of response and action on this highly requested feature. Comments related on exporting capabilities from other products is unhelpful. Derek Law Please communicate a more urgent message to the DevOps team to get this expedited. It is literally holding back Dashboards from being effective for business management and user's to be able to extract actionable data. Horatio McDowney
This functionality is necessary for our work. Please consider this need
This idea has been sitting around for a while so it would be really nice to see it implemented. Though the export to csv functionality is there in WAB having it within ops dashboard would benefit a number of workflows for my customers and reduce duplication.
I agree. It is a simple addition that anyone can build and implement but most dont have the clearance, or infrastructure to build and add to their dashboards. ESRI already showed that they CAN add this, seeing that they gloat about it being in Survey123, but refuse to add it to OpDash despite the massive need for it (ex. 3 years later and people are still asking for it) I sometimes feel like it is an ESRI power move.
I hope that they will add this capability ASAP, although I wont hold my breath, since Dashboards are a huge benefit to teams that 1) Dont use Survey123 2) Supervisors and Non- Technical parties 3) Stakeholders in a project.
Three Years, Three years of continued comments and likes, 300 upvotes, Yet still no functionality. Obviously this is something we all want and get requests for daily. Please ESRI help us out and add this
That is unfortunate, since I need this ability now as our current system is in desperate need of an update. If you had an estimate of when it will be incorporated, I could at least let my leadership know that there is a justification in waiting.
Thanks so much for the update Derek Law, we really appreciate it!
Hi Katie and Amanda,
FYI: I posted a reply earlier in this thread on Feb 21, 2020 replying back to Nathaniel Simmons (see above).
> ... is there any update if exporting will be available in the next version of Ops Dashboard or is it at least on the road map?
This enhancement request is in the ArcGIS Dashboards Dev backlog. It won't be in next release, it is on the longer term Dev roadmap. I don't have an estimate on when it will be released. Right now, we're focusing on getting the next Dashboard release (built on the ArcGIS API for JavaScript v4.x) ready for beta in April, then stabilization.
Hope this helps,
Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS and Derek Law,
Followed the thread from this Geonet post Export in Operations Dashboard all the way here- is there any update if exporting will be available in the next version of Ops Dashboard or is it at least on the road map?
Thanks!
Thank you Kevin!
Like Gayle, customized apps are often not a possibility. Especially for federal agencies. I just worked every angle at the Fed UC last week to get an answer on this...with not much success so far. But I have the ear of a few potentially influential people. I will let you all know what I find out over the next week or so.
Thanks,
Kevin
I agree. I'm finding it very frustrating as our ESRI rep is introducing us to their apps, resulting in me spending significant amounts of time learning them and customizing them, only to find in the end that they do not fit our needs. Customized apps are out of the question for us. I wish ESRI would be more responsive to their clients needs.
What's new—Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS | Documentation
They haven't had an update since March of 2019. Any updates for the this product appear to be just about yearly. My guess is we probably won't see this function added. The other route would be to develop a custom application, but that takes significantly more resources then WYSIWYG apps. I feel the WYSIWYG apps ESRI offers gets you 75% of the way there, but that extra 25% ends up hurting the usefulness.
Could the community PLEASE have an update on this functionality from ESRI? Even if that update is, "Not coming ever". The ability to download the data is such a key component to our products that it severely limits our use of Operations Dashboard.
For our purposes, it seems that ESRI products such as Collector and Dashboard are promising, but they just don't quite meet our requirements. I have to tell my boss this week that we can't export data from Dashboard. Which means we have to come up with a different method of data sharing. We really can't wait for ESRI to decide if they are going to add this capability or not. Our current system is failing.
We would like to replace our current online data sharing system with Operations Dashboard. But we would need a way for users to download data as csv and shapefiles.
We absolutely NEED this ability to export Ops Dashboard results (especially whatever is currently filtered on the dashboard). I work for a police department and we would like to use Ops Dashboard for detailed crime summaries. While being able to see the results summarized on a dashboard is a great first step, the inability to export the data and do more analysis in other programs renders is what keeps us from using Ops Dashboard in our production workflows. I see this idea is reviewed, but is there a plan in place to allow the functionality? We're using ArcGIS Enterprise.
Hi,
We are the custumize application developr for the gis.We custumize the need of importing from the dashboard and export into any format or represent ant web formated data as per user need.
Please let me know for custumization on
Hi Esri,
As you may know, I am a LONG time user, a frequent speaker at Esri conferences and a huge advocate for the organization as a whole. That said, I am desperately disappointed with the lack of response on this. We are in the third year of this thread and no response from your dev team. I am aware that Experience Builder may soon make this irrelevant, but we cannot wait until that is released and operational. PLEASE, I beg you, spend one sprint cycle and knock this out. You have a huge community of users who will offer a collective hurrah if you do.
Kevin Wright
End users always export data for statistics and reports. This feature would greatly benefit our department.
This feature is very important for us since we are using the enterprise behind the firewall which prevents us to use Survey123 web and feature report.
Still waiting on this basic capability to become available through a dashboard....
PLEASE implement this!!! This is very important for the practical use of this application. End users require this functionality - particularly the ability to export to csv or shapefile.
Would ESRI please give us an update on this? This is a huge deal for us and it's slowing down business processes immensely. What's the point of drilling down into data, if you cant then export the results or print the map?
Adding this would make dashboards a single solution for us for some of our reporting functions. Our current work around is to use a separate application or script to export the same data that is viewable within the dashbaord. This in many ways discourages our users from making full use of our dashboards. They are much more likely to skip using the dashboard and go straight to the separate application to grab their export.
This is a must for us to quickly export potentially impacted assets.
We will soon start the developement of an application with Dashboard for one of our customer and one of their main concern is that they want to be able to print the dashboard. The most obvious way to do that would be to export the different component in a PDF file.
