Non-Fused Cache Layers Advice

I have seen that if a map service is a non-fused/multi-layer cache service then I must add it as an ArcGISDynamicMapServerLayer.  Before I ask my data guys and AGS manager to set up a non-fused cache service, can anyone tell me if having to use ArcGISDynamicMapServerLayer means that the layers are forced to be dynamically drawn or are the cached tiles still used?

If the latter is the case then I'll need to get my AGS manager to setup about 20 odd services instead of 1!!!

Thanks in advance.
