Web Edits Applying to ALL Versions

I created a feature service with two SDE layers (SQL Server), and connected to a version called "User Edits." It is a child of DEFAULT.

The layers are registered as versioned.

All edits that are applied in ArcGIS Explorer Online to the features in the map service get applied to both the "User Edits" version, ad the DEFAULT version simultaneously.

Is this normal, or is there a setting I am not setting?

I want online editors to only edit the child version, and then I will reconcile and post at regular intervals to the DEFAULT.

Is this possible?

edits are made to the published map�??s version but in 10.1 from client you also can specified version (gdbVersion parameter in rest). try and see in fiddler what is the request rest to server so you check the problem.
