selecting the Geodatabase used for input to a ModelBuilder tool

I want to use the JavaScriptAPI, ModelBuilder and Geoprocessing services.

I want to pass in a user string with the name/directory of his geodatabase and then use a feature class or feature set as input to a ModelBulider tool.

Are there any code examples showing this?

Does this work with variable substitution?

Do I need an ArcPy tool to connect to the geodatabase to use as the input?

not sure of your question, do you just want the user to select a geodatabase when they fire off the model? if so then use a workspace variable in the model and make it a parameter

Thanks for the reply.

I want to publish the tool as a geoprocessing service and so I want to have a string input parameter with the path and name of a personal database on our ArcServer.

Does this make sense?
