The Architecture Practice team in Professional Services is pleased to announce this new series. The ArcGIS platform is supported on both on-premises or in a cloud environment like Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS). By leveraging these components, you can expose GIS content and capabilities as web services and consume those services in your apps. This enables users to access and apply useful GIS resources in their work.
We will be discussing different cloud related topics that gives you a unique opportunity to align technology with your overall business vision, which in turn can help you grow your business, improve productivity, and reduce costs.
Note: The contents presented above are recommendations that will typically improve performance for many scenarios. However, in some cases, these recommendations may not produce better performance results, in which case, additional performance testing and system configuration modifications may be needed.
Is there any document that explains the licensing within cloud deployments?
Hi Kevin,
There is, please see: https://www.esri.com/content/dam/esrisites/en-us/media/whitepaper/licensing-arcgis-enterprise-deploy...
What does Bring Your Own License (BYOL) mean for AWS? Can I use enterprise with just an AWS subscription or do I still need to purchase an Esri license?
BYOL means the same in AWS as it means anywhere else, i.e., you need to bring your own license because it isn't included in the hosting environment cost.
BYOL is exactly that, you need to acquire an Esri license prior to deployment and use that to deploy on AWS.
