Geoff: Try breaking your query string up and using a combination of ' and ". e.g. queryString = r'"FID" in (%s) and "Jurisdicti" like ' + '\'\% Township\''

Decimal Degrees - 42.5, -77.5 etc It shouldn't struggle as long as it gets parsed as numeric instead of strings.

Can you export your model to a python script and copy the code to another window? It's heaps easier to troubleshoot that way.

Dear All We need advice here after a recent roll out of Internet Explorer 10 to the business. These issues have not been seen while the business Products affected ESRI Desktop 10.2 (ArcMap 10.2, ArcCatalog 10.2) Portal for ArcGIS 10.2 ArcGIS Server 10.2 Symptoms When Internet Explorer 10 hangs, the GIS Web Services in ArcGIS Desktop also hangs Open Portal Map in an Internet Explorer 10 browser hangs intermittently. The same problem persists if portal sites are accessed in Chrome with IE 10 installed Access to ArcGIS Online is not possible with the currently rolled out Internet Explorer 10 security settings Workaround Using Chrome instead of IE 10 will restore the access of ArcMap and ArcCatalog to the publicly available Council GIS Web Services. Access to Portal web services through Internet Explorer 10 is still a huge issue to the business because the Internet Users are getting an unstan;e map product. I have had similar issues the last few months with ESRI Maps for Office. It seems as if Microsoft Office (Excel) is not able to resolve the Proxy Dialogue credentials. Accessing the same services from Portal from the same machine will work. See My earlier forum post. Susan

I was having similar problems geocoding excel tables a few months ago. No response as yet from my forum posting. One issue was tied up with failing to resolve the proxy from within excel when locating the geocoding service. Geocoding directly in Portal (ie through a browser) worked no problems. There doesn't seem to be a way for saving and reading proxy credentials in Microsoft Office as there is in a standard web (chrome, IE) browser. Susan

Please look at the Connection Properties for the data source from Excel. Get the option from the Refresh All button. Attached is a small screen shot of the dialogue box inside of Excel. The map inside of Excel will then update itself when the data source is updated. Just to reiterate, We are not making a copy of the data inside of Excel, just linking to the table. Susan

Yeah, you will need to be updating the data source directly. ie the Database Table stored in with sqlserver, oracle, ms access etc Excel is the end user client. You can schedule the data source to be refreshed from within Excel. In summary, store the data external to Excel and office, if possible - we need to get away from standalone excel data files. We use this for viewing the locations from Google Analytics. We refresh data once a day in MS Sql Server. Excel reports and ESRI Maps for Office do the rest. Susan

Howzit Source your locational-aware data from a database table, Add the Database table to Excel through ODBC, Add excel (lontigude and latitude) data to the embedded map in Excel, Refresh and Refresh All will dynamically update both Excel and the Map layers, It means, you only need to add the table once and the map layer once. Hi John That's correct. Longitude and Latitude requires that the coordinates are in Geographic reference system. As to precision of the Longitude and Latitude values, well that depends on the availability of coordinate accuracy. Fewer decimals give a more generalized placement than a greater number of decimals. Products Portal ESRI Maps For Office v2.1.1.206 ArcGIS Desktop 10.2 We are running and connecting to Portal and it is happily accepting and locating records using a token-based geocoding service from both a Chrome and an IE Browser. But, using the "Add Excel Data" and by applying the same process to ESRI Maps for Office, results in the proxy credentials pop up box popping up. Entering the credentials for the proxy still doesn't return a valid token for the geocoding service. Debugging: Fiddler reports the token from the geocoding service is successfully being fetched. But viewing the same debugging in ESRI Maps for Office shows that no token is ever returned. Questions: Is there any way to enter the proxy information from within Excel? Are secure (token) geocoding services accepted in ESRI Maps for Office? Thanks in advance Susan Jones

Howzit all, At the beginning of last year I created an ArcGIS Server Reporting And an ArcGIS Data Source Reporting AddIn for documenting everything inside an ArcGIS Server Instance. I deployed with an ArcGIS Server 10.0 Instance and made use of the IServerObjectManager Interface to create Server contexts for services. 3-4 month back we upgraded to ArcGIS Servr 10.1 and migrated all the services. That AddIn I have created is no longer valid at the new ArcGIS Server architecture but still works well on the existing AGS 10.0 instances. Although I was not significantly involved in the upgrade, I recall the whole SOM and SOC componentary has fallen away, It is hardly surpriing that the AddIn no longer works. (I have gone through the debug of the AddIn and notice the component fails when the SOM is created. Nothing object is created. Can someone please guide me to the Interfaces I should be making use of for use in the .NET Development? Is there a replacement Interface to IServerObjectManager? I am on a steep learning curve here. Many Thanks in Advance Susan Jones GIS Consultant Auckland NEW Zealand
