Hi Peoples, The problem comes down to ArcGIS Pro does not work with authenticated Squid Proxy servers. BUG-000083997 - ArcGIS Pro cannot communicate to through an Authenticated Forward Proxy. "HTTP 407 Proxy Authentication Required" . As for ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) it does work with Authenticated Forward Proxies at version 10.3 which was recently released. If the client uses an Authenticated Forward Proxy when ArcMap 10.3 is opened it will display prompt asking for credentials. Once the credentials are entered ArcMap will be able to connect to ArcGIS Online through the Authenticated Forward Proxy. Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, BUG-000083357: WFS service returns all features if maximum number of features is not specified in the request parameters and WFS configuration. Therefore as a word of caution, ensure you explicitly set this value. Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, This is a little bit more of a problem than first thought. It would appear that if you do not explicitly set the maximum number of feature, the default of 1000 is not honored. Thus a request attempts to download the entire feature class to the server output directory, which for a large feature class, with multiple requests, has a good chance of crashing ArcGIS Server. Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, If you are using ArcGIS Server, with WFS capability enabled, then pay attention to the help files, and set the "Enable maximum number of feature" to a reasonable level. The default is 1000. If you set the value too high, it will write large files to the server output directory, and in our case, crash the server. Our server ran out of memory, the disk thrashed, and the gluster share had a melt down and took the whole site down. This is server that is used to handling millions of requests a week. Our fault - we should have paid more attention and not set this value as high as we did with a more testing. Cheers, Mark

Hi Flo, I am hosting in ArcGIS Online, and thus I don't think I have access to the code. In this case, the level looks to be determined by the basemap, and you are not able to alter the value in the online app provided. Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, I have created a web map in ArcGIS Online that has two layers. The top layer is a cached map service, which goes down to level 18, and the basemap is a cached image service that goes down to level 19. When I create a Spy Glass app from the map, the app allows me to zoom down to level 18, at which point all is good, but then it allows me to zoom to level 19, in which case I have data in the basemap, but not in the top layer. The result is there is no data in the spy glass, which looks a bit average. I need to be able to tell the app that level 18 is the most it should zoom into. Anyone know how to achieve this with the app hosted in ArcGIS Online? Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, Have taken up with esri support. esri appear to have been able to reproduce the problem with a default install of SQUID proxy server. They have suggested some changes, which we are currently in discussion with our ICT department to trial. Will keep you posted. Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, I can see how to create a tile package, and how to upload the tile package to ArcGIS Online > and it creates a Map Service automatically. Great, and an easy method to get a cached service up and going. I cannot see how to share a tile package to a local copy of ArcGIS Server. ie Is it possible to Share a tile package to ArcGIS Server? [I can create a skeleton map service, and upload the tiles, of I can create an image service and upload tiles > but it would be good to be able to share the tile package, and let ArcGIS Server create the services] Cheers, Mark

Hi Ty, Still having lots of issues with SQUID proxy. Cannot connect ArcGIS Online with ArcGIS Desktop - never have been able to, and it takes an hour or two with pre-release (ArcGISPro_1472_143675.exe). I would upgrade to the latest pre-release, but it looks like I need to sign in to upgrade, which I can't do. We are working with support to look at the SQUID proxy issue, but alas we are making no head way. We are getting stuck in the mix of "it works for me, it must by your proxy, talk to your IT staff". Cheers, Mark

Hi Alessandro, We are still running 10.1 and came across this. The first we knew about it was we could no longer publish services, and there was a message in the log file that pointed to the Temporary Internet Files directory. In case others see this, it appears to be resolved in 10.2.1. NIM089871 : ArcGIS Server 10.1 on Linux allows files to accumulate in temporary folders in the .wine directory. We have a cron job that clears the directory out every day. Cheers, Mark

Hi Peoples, Following up from this, my advice from esri is: "Please find that I can confirm that you will be required to access the ArcGIS Pro Licenses via ArcGIS Online and will be required to enable access for each named user individually." The issue in relation to us connecting to ArcGIS Online appears to be related to our proxy server (SQUID) and is an ongoing support issue with esri. Cheers, Mark

We run an ArcGIS Server site for Production, and a TEST site that is a mirror of Production. When you log into Manager, it is very easy to think you are on the TEST site, when in fact you are in Production, and delete or shut down a service. The solution we came up with was simple. We edited the admin.css and added a background image. TEST is now Orange and says TEST, Production is red and says PROD. We have not made that mistake since making the change. Therefore, the idea would be to make the web page for ArcGIS Server Manager configurable, where you can easily alter the background color or image.

Hi Peoples, Summary: We want to take our ArcGIS Online hosted tile layer offline for use in Collector for ArcGIS. Is this possible? Ie, we want to publish tiles to ArcGIS Online as a cached map service, and then allow clients to export the cache tiles, so we can use the layer for Collector Offline editing. ArcGIS Online : Publish Tiles http://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/share-maps/publish-tiles.htm Above is the reference to publish tiles to ArcGIS Online. Specifically we build the tiles in ArcGIS for Desktop, and upload them to server. Collector: Take Maps Offline http://doc.arcgis.com/en/collector/android/create-maps/offline-map-prep.htm Above is the reference about data requirements for Take maps Offline. There is a cryptic note: Note: Going offline requires using hosted data or ArcGIS 10.2.2 for Server or later. Using a hosted tile layer as a basemap is not supported. It would appear then, that it is not possible to create a tiled map service, in ArcGIS Online, that we can then use in Collector for offline editing. Any work around for this? PS: Normally we would use our own ArcGIS Server instance to allow clients to export the cache tiles, but we have had issues moving to 10.2.2, so thought that in the interim we would be able to upload to ArcGIS Online to work around the problem. Cheers, Mark
