My previous request for a discussion on this issue did not work out so I will try again. Thank you to those that weighed in previously. For the purposes of rotating a point symbol, I am looking for a tool that will read or calculate Bearing data of a line feature class and then insert the data into a ROTATION field for a point feature class. I have attached a sketch to help illustrate what I am trying to achieve. Thanks, Larry Adgate

I am looking for data that would function in a field calculator and would automatically rotate a point symbol (or water pipe cap symbol) 90 degrees to a line featureclass. I have aprox. three thousand point symbols and rotating all of them manually is cost prohibitive. Attached is an example of what I am trying to achieve and if there are other methods please share. Thanks, Larry Adgate

Hi lan, Thank you for your response, I am trying to reduce build errors when building a geometrict network. If two vertexs are close together at their ends, an unaware user will snap to the wrong vertex. A topology rule can find the errors but would like to find something faster for other users.

Hi Folks, thanks once again for helping with my questions: How do I find vertexs on a line that are too close together especially at their end points. Is there a tool or script that can do the job? Thanks, Larry Adgate

Thanks Xander, the script worked great. My plans were to run the Index againt 38 other feature classes and this will give me food for thought. Thanks, Larry

Some help on this please, Thanks Script work works great for finding Facilityid numbers not found in “b” or final =a-b. But to make the script more useful an additional field or “NAME” should be printed in conjunction with the Facilityid number or “FACILITYID & NAME” and this is where I need some help. The “NAME” field contains text (ex:“Redondo Tank”) and is difficult to add or subtract and the set function works perfect for my task. Thanks, Larry Adgate # Import arcpy module import arcpy # Local variables: Index = "C:\\Projects\\UpdatePlantFacilityIndex.mdb\\FacilityIndex2013" Arden_ns = "C:\\Projects\\UpdatePlantFacilityIndex.mdb\\UpdatePlantFacilityIndex\\Network" a = set(r[0] for r in arcpy.da.SearchCursor(Index, ["FACILITYID"])) a1 = set(r[0] for r in arcpy.da.SearchCursor(Index, ["NAME"])) #Addition field data to accompany FacilityID b = set(r[0] for r in arcpy.da.SearchCursor(Arden_ns, ["FacilityID"])) final = a+a1-b print "Arden System Discrepency: {0},".format(", ".join(sorted(final))) #error Message: final = a+a1-b #error message: TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for +: 'set' and 'set'

If someone could help me with this, I would forever be greatful. My preference is not to repeat DeleteField_management three times for the three diffrent feature classes, but to use a for loop and loop through all the feature classes except my creation will not work. Please help Thanks, Larry # Import arcpy module import arcpy # Local variables: Arden = "C:\\Projects\\TestProject.gdb\\Project\\Arden" Baypoint = "C:\\Projects\\TestProject.gdb\\Project\\Baypoint" Clearlake = "C:\\Projects\\TestProject.gdb\\Project\\Clearlake" mylist = Arden, Baypoint, Clearlake for delete in mylist: arcpy.DeleteField_management(mylist, "Pump;Well;Tank") print "Finished the Delete Function"

Except for the #local Variables, the body of this script works fine. When working with one feature class, setting a workspace seems easy, but when setting the workspace for multiple feature classes it becomes more difficult. If anyone can help-a world of thanks, Larry import arcpy import sets #local Variables: Asbuilt_Log = "C:/Projects/Asbuilt_Log.gdb" Rancho = "C:/Projects/North/Rancho.gdb" Clearlake = "C:/Projects/South/Clearlake.gdb #Body of script set_one = set, int(r[0] for r in arcpy.da.SearchCursor("Asbuilt_Log", "GWO")) set_two = set, int(r[0] for r in arcpy.da.SearchCursor("Rancho", "GWO")) set_three = set, int(r[0] for r in arcpy.da.SearchCursor("Clearlake", "GWO")) print "Items unique to Asbuilt_Log: {}".format(", ".join(sorted(set_one-set_two-set_three)))

Jason, the code for table_one and table_two works well for text only. Can it be modified if the fields in the shapefiles were double or a float?, Thanks Larry
