Thank you for that info. I am new to gdb management so I am not sure if I will answer these correctly. 1. "Registering as Versioned"-Don't know what this means. I don't have SDE installed. 2. Don't have SDE installed. 3. I think this is what I am looking for. To clarify, I have created a gdb in ArcMap 10.2.2 Catalog with 214,000 features. Since at this time, anyone can edit (and potentially delete data) the gdb, this is a problem that we are trying to address. I have been looking for the best way to accomplish this task. From what I gather, we need to create roles that have admin/edit/read-only capabilities to be able to keep track of when/who made changes and to allow us to have a rollback feature for "accidents". It is my understanding that this is where versioning the gdb comes into play. I could be wrong, but from what I read was that I need a database management system, ex SQL, postgress, etc to be able to maintain multiple versions as changes are made to the gdb. I chose SQL based off of ease of use recommendations. I have installed 2014 SQL Express (which is free, but not supported as you stated in the previous post which I will change). I have not been able to figure out what to do next which is why I am here. I am looking for a workflow to explain what I need (as stated in the begining) to accomplish what we are trying to do. I hope this helps. We have ArcMap 10.1 and 10.2 on numerous machines in our office with a single IIS Server machine. That Server hosts ArcServer 10.2.1 and SQL (don't know if that is best practice). My machine/role is admin for the server and gdms.

I have installed ArcGIS Server but not SDE. Was unclear if I needed SDE or not. Where does that get installed? On the server or my client machine?

Anyone? Ultimately I want to be able to constantly update and version a gdb. It will be used to dynamically update a custom webapp among other things. I have SQL set up on our server with ArcServer. Any help is appreciated! Mat

Patrick, Have you found out the answer to your question yet about the cbtree? I am currently looking into that and have only found examples using 3.3 API and another sample in php using 3.7. Mat

Sorry for the delayed response, but I just got around to looking into your suggestion. In the Format Popup Content it states that you can define media content using mediaInfos[ ] property which, from what I gather, defines the type of chart used. Would you be able to suggest, if at all possible, how to use the elevation profile chart dijit within the mediaInfos property? I also want to add a query function, suggestions on adding that in as well? The resource I think I need is Query related records | ArcGIS API for JavaScript . I know there is a lot of work I need to do to get this running correctly, so any suggestions would be appreciated. I am going to start messing around with it tomorrow and see if I can get it working.

Ok that's what I tried to do, haven't added the query api yet to see if it displays what I want it to display. I will try that tomorrow.

Thanks for the quick suggestion. As you can see from my other post, I have a gdb relationship class that I want to be able to query and have the results be displayed in a popup and the elevation chart. I assume I can just use the elevation and distance fields in the table that the chart uses. I don't need to use any of the other functions of the dijit and don't need elevation data anywhere other than querying the features. The chart is perfect for how I want to display the data.

Does anyone have a best practice when it comes to dbms and versioning gdb's? I have done a considerable amount of research but there is so much info it is hard to get a clear cut direction on how to accomplish this. I have messed around with SQL Server and created a test db to connect to through my client computer but I still feel like I am missing something. Thanks in advance! Mat

I have a gdb that we maintain on a network drive. I shared as a geodata service on our ArcGIS Server. I am trying to access the gdb in a custom js web app. Does anyone know the best way to display the data from the geodata service in the js custom web app? Particularly, a relationship class from the gdb? I want to ultimately be able to query the data that the relationship class references. Thanks in advance! Mat

Can anyone help me pull the Elevations Profile Charting function from the template so I can utilize its function in our own custom js web app? I can't seem to get it to work. Also, I need to be able to edit where the chart pulls the x,y data. Right now it accesses the Profile geoprocessing service (http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=3300cfc33ca74a9fac69d2e0f4ea46e5) (per the read me file in the zip). I need it to access our own elevation data in a gdb we are hosting on our server. If there is an easier way to incorporate that chart functionality, I am open to suggestions. Thanks in advance! Mat

Thanks for that info. I actually made a lot of progress yesterday researching and successfully published a Geodata Service on our server. In order to access the data to use in my js webmap, I found this article: ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) Don't know if that helps you out at all.

Kawa, I am actually at the beginning stages of what you are attempting to do without editing. Sorry I can not offer a solution but if you don't mind, do you have any resources that helped get you to where you are (I know that's a loaded question)? As you know searching is a pain and can take some time to get a clear, if any, answer so any time you can save me will be much appreciated. Thanks! Mat
