Is this something ESRI plans on fixing in the next release? Can someone for ESRI look into it and respond. Thanks Simon

Should applications built using the ArcGIS Server 10 Web ADF .Net runtime work fine when using ArcGIS Server 10.1 map services? I would think since there is not much new development in this area the soap services at 10.1 would be fully backwards compatible against the 10 runtime. Most things seem to work, however any queries I make (either spatial or using a sql where) are returning a null DataTable. The same code works fine hitting a 9.3 or 10 map service, but always returns null against 10.1 map service. Do I have to upgrade my app to the latest 10.1 Web Adf runtime? Thanks Simon

I have an open support ticket with ESRI regarding this issue. I will update this thread when I have the issue resolved.

Has anyone been successful in getting the legend to work when using the proxy? Or has this been fixed in the latest version of the API? 2.7?

I know this thread is a bit old, but I am experiencing a similar issue. Legend images show up fine when accessing on the internal LAN and have access to the ArcGIS Server. They do not show up when running everything through the esri proxy (esriConfig.defaults.io.alwaysUseProxy = true;). Using fiddler I can see that all calls go through the proxy, except for the actual legend image requests. The images are trying to be accessed directly through the ArcGIS Server Rest url, not the proxy, so this is the reason they do not show up. I think that this may be a bug in the ESRI ArcGIS JavaScript API/Legend Widget, they are forgetting to check alwaysUseProxy and not sending the request through the proxy, unless there is something else I am missing. Did you ever find a fix or workaround to your issue? Thanks Simon

Has anyone seen or been working on a Combined TOC/Legend Contol for the AGS JavaScript Api? something similar to what is available in the Web Adf TOC? I have seen lots of examples, discussion, etc. on a Legend control or TOC control seperately, but nothing combined where the TOC simply has the symbology within it. thx Simon

I am also interested in offline support. Like another user above, the use case is fieldwork on a tablet where users are disconnected most of the time. Yes of course engine or mobile would work, but these come with hefty licensing/deployment fees on a per seat basis, and if the app is mostly for map display, current location, and simple querying, these fees make the app cost too much. The app is not centered around maps or GIS, they are supplemental, not every app is gis centric and needs to do everything arcobjects offers.

Add native GPS support to ArcGIS Explorer and the SDK. This will promote some very interesting application development.

I have written a custom addin (DockWindow) and using the ArcGIS Explorer Application Configuration App added the addin to a new button in a new panel and made it the default (first opened) panel. I am wondering if anyone has successfully written code or been able to get ArcGIS Explorer to automatically open their Dock Window Addin consistently on startup of Explorer? It seems when I deploy to other users using an application configuration file (.ncfg) and a .nmf file my custom addin dock window does not open at startup, even though I saved the .nmf with my window open and pinned. I have also tried creating an Extension in my addin which overrides the OnStartup() and tries to display the dock window, but without success. Has anyone achievd this, or have any suggestions? Thanks Simon

James, Not sure if this will help, but you may want to try adding this; //Calling suspend display temporarily suspends updates to the map display IDisposable suspendedDisplay = ESRI.ArcGISExplorer.Application.Application.ActiveMapDisplay.SuspendDisplay(); and once done; //Calling dispose resumes updates to the map display suspendedDisplay.Dispose();

Not sure if this is the right place to submit bugs, but couldn't find anywhere else suitable. Please let me know if there is another official channel to submit bugs. When loading ArcGIS Explorer 1200 in a disconnected environment I noticed that it was constantly trying to connect and stream the basemap. It should really be able to see its disconnected and not try to get the basemap at all. Anyway, this was taking up cpu, so I decided to try and remove the basemap by going to Home>Basemap>Clear Basemap. This seems to hang ArcGIS Explorer indefinitely. It seems if you open AGX first while connected, and then disconnect it knows its disconnected and can deal with it better. The constant streaming does not occur and neither does the hanging when removing the basemap.

I have been noticing poor performance (looks like cpu) in ArcGIS Explorer after adding local data such as shapefiles. It seems very slow to draw even just one shapefile. Performance seems much worse than the same data in ArcMap. Are there any guidelines on what the best local data sources are? shapefile vs. personal gdb? or would layer packages perform any better? Thanks Simon
