Hi Juan, It should be pretty easy to do what you want. I followed the following steps to do what you wanted. After making the aspect raster(yes its a raster), I went to symbology tab and made 6 classes, with a manual interval, you can manually set the break values on the right side by clicking on them. I set the values to -.0000001(this catches all the flat or no aspect pixels), 45(break between north and east, 135(break between east and south), 225(break between south and west), and 315(break between west and north). Now, we want all the North values together, so I used the reclassify tool to make the -1 to -.00000001 value equal to 1, 0-45 and 315-360 equal to 2, 45-135 equal to 3, 135 to 225 equal to 4, and 225-315 equal to 5. Once the tool finishes running, open the symbology. It will have their label values of 1,2,3,4,5 respectively. under the label section of the symbology tab, you can simply rename your classes, so click where it says 1, and type in Flat, 2 change to North, 3 to East, 4 to South, and 5 to West. I know you said you wanted 4 Classes, but it would be a good idea to keep the 5th class for the flat pixels in, but if you want to get rid of it, go back to the symbology tab, go to the value heading, click on it, then select "remove" in the bottom right. It just so happens when the aspect tool runs, it makes its nice neat labels for everything, but remember, its the labels that show up in the legend, not the actual values, so you can change the labels to meet your needs, it doesn't have to show the degree ranges, you can simply click on the labels under the symbology tab and make them the text instead of number ranges.

When you look at the help I posted, when you open a rasters properties in the TOC and go to the display tab, if your raster has rational polynomial coefficients (RPCs) a box that says orthorectification using elevation can be checked. That box will be in the bottom right corner of the screen under Orthorectification is the one you saw in the screenshot I do believe, or a similar version(I'm on 10.1 so can't check for sure.) have you tried using a different tool to copy the data(feature class to feature class)? Also, what is the point of making the Layer file, all it needs to run is a feature layer, not an actual .lyr file. Like Havard said, you should only need to use the output of make xyeventlayer as the input for the copy feature(or feature class to feature class).

Could you post a screenshot of the table as it shows in ArcMap? It would help to narrow down what the problem might be, since it could be a number of things.

I made a mistake there, you cannot bring PDFs in. However, it usually is a simple matter to convert the pdf to a jpg(or other raster type) and bring it in.

You can bring in images and pdfs from the catalog in ArcMap. However, if they have no spatial reference, you must georeference the images, so they match the projection and scale. Some good links to help you georeferencing. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//009t000000mn000000 http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#/Georeferencing_toolbar_tools/009t000000mp000000/

I don't believe that can be done in ArcMap, only in ArcScene or ArcGlobe. See jbswain's post about how to do so in either of those two programs. Usually the only way to get a 3-D look in ArcMap is if you have a hillshade layer under imagery, can give it a 3-D appearence.

You can't preserve the colors unfortunately(as best as I know), whenever you bring in a shapefile, it automatically defaults to single value and a random color. If you are in the same map document, you can import the symbology from your other layer by going to Properties>Symbology>Import(towards upper right if I recall) and reference your symbology back to your earlier layer.

I'd make sure the header information in your ASCII file is correct, check the tool help for how it needs to be set-up. Otherwise I'm not sure why the tool wouldn't work.

Have you tried Code Academy? I found them pretty useful while I was learning python alongside the class I was taking. "Comprehensive" is somewhat subjective, since I doubt almost any python user uses all of python functionality, and the amount of modules that can be added in is quite high. Their tutorials will get you a good basic understanding of python syntax, methods, strcuture, etc.

Mark I think the issue was more that the raster would not come up in the clip tool as a feature to be clipped, not that the clip itself was not successful. Edit: This isn't my problem, I was trying to help
