Correct. It looked like a tool to Annotate the selected feature into an already existing Annotation Feature Class, like an append... This command is not quite I was looking for. What I need on a regular basis is convert selected feature labels to a new Annotation Feature Class.

Hi Dan, In addition to hardware investigation, cache is indeed another setting I should investigate more... I tried to perform Editing for a while with "Don't cache any data locally" but it did not solve anything. I think the default "Keep the cache... updated" is the best. But once cache is invalidated when data are edited and thus updated, does the cache rebuild itself instantly and efficiently? I wonder... This could explain why a project get slower and slower while editing. You other suggestion of closing down Layout and Map views to "free" up the machine did not help either. For info, all feature classes, including annotation, are stored locally into a FGDB. Where can I check the cache size and where to manage it? Perhaps the cache is not enough... Thanks for helping.

Hi, I am now on ArcGIS Pro 2.2.0 and I am still looking for converting selected labels to annotations. I thought I could in Pro 2.2 but not quite. With a right-click on the labeled layer, in Selection there is an Annotate Selected Features but it is not possible to convert to Annotation in Annotation Feature Class...unless I missed something!

Hi, I have a maps with a few insets which I show with Extent Indicators (Layout mode -> Insert tab -> Map Frames group -> Extent Indicator) in a Layout. I need to create features classes from these extent indicators in order to perform spatial queries such as a simple Select by Location for further analysis... In ArcGIS Desktop, I used to draw rectangles on top of the extent indicator in Layout mode and copy & paste into Data Frame in a Graphic Layout and then convert these rectangles to features classes. Copy & Paste that way do not work in ArcGIS Pro! Is there any other solution to convert extent indicators to feature classes?

Hi all, Thanks for all these remarks.. It gives some insight on where to investigate more... In the meantime, I "rebuild" my complete ArcGIS Pro mapping project, involving 2 map view and 1 layout (with 5 insets), by reopening each layer one by one in a brand new project, and assessing the speed of editing labels and/or features. I was very pleased with performances as all editing were much faster. However, after working a few hours on the project, it slows again with poor performance. I can save, rebuild spatial indexes... but nothing help! I still think that better hardware components would help with certain tasks, but in this particular situation, it looks like the more you work with a project in ArcGIS Pro, the more it gets screwed up and/or corrupted. What's happening? Thanks

Hi Jeremy, I found your post interesting as I am experiencing serious issues with performance as well. I posted last week my configs: ArcGIS Pro 2.2 | Best configuration ? Here is the FPS for drawing performance. Turning off layers improve overall display performance, from FPS 80 to about FPS 50... However, when clicking labels to edit Annotation attributes such as Right aligment, then Apply, I still have to wait about 15-20 sec to view changes. This is unacceptable and frustrating. Moving Annotation is not any better... Is Editing greatly improved with a dedicated graphic card? Thanks

Hi, I was running ArcGIS Pro 2.2 with this config: And I have now this: I did notice some improvment in terms of speed while editing labels, but it is not the very best either. Fairly disappointed even. It looks like there is only 16Gb extra RAM on my new config, but not much more... Is there any bottleneck in this configuration? Is the Graphic card good enough? What hardware configuration would ESRI recommend to improve overall performance? I did use the detection tool provided by ESRI to benchmark my configuration: It looks like the CPU speed could be faster and the video card better... Any suggestion on this? Thanks

Although the issue in this thread is now solved, I do have one additional question. I discovered that Editing with Map Topology enabled (default), moving symbols is far slower than Editing with No Topology! A lot more slower! But in the other hand, Editing with no Topology do not keep the symbol size according to the Reference Scale, with in turn is rather annoying (illustrated below). Is there any way to apply Reference Scale to symbols when Editing with No Topology? Editing with Map Topology (symbol size correct according to Reference Scale): Editing with No Topology (symbol size reduced and to to scale)

Hi Kory, I was looking for this new functionality but in ArcGIS Pro 2.2, I cannot get this tool work properly! Holding C + click open the Pop-up window fine. But clicking the Explore tool, then holding Ctrl to drag a rectangle does nothing with me! No Pop-Up. Weird? Is there anything wrong I am doing? Thanks

Fantastic! And there is even a tool in the Annotation toolset: An overview of the Annotation toolset—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop Although, the change Reference Scale is not accessible from right-click Annotation Feature Class Properties (greyed out), as shown below, thus my question initially... Many thanks!

Hi, I recently upgraded to ArcGIS Pro 2.2. Unfortunately, the functionality I was asking above, I mean changing the reference scale of an Annotation Feature Class stored in FGDB, is not implemented in ArcGIS Pro 2.2. I'd like to approach the problem differently. Is it possible to access Annotation Feature Class properties with arcpy in Python in order to write a simple script to change the reference scale? This would solve my problem until ESRI implement this functionality in a future release... Here is the functionality that was available in ArcGIS 10.5:

Thanks. The issue was indeed the topology. Solution 1 suggested worked. I can now move feature points one by one with No Topology selected in Edit tab, under Manage Edits group.

Hi, This did not work for me with ArcGIS Pro 2.2. However, John Jones solution 1 above was the issue. In the Edit tab, under Manage Edits group, Map Topology was activated. I could not find this setting before! With No Topology selected, it is all fine. It makes sense.
