Hey, I would like to select a polygon and then buffer the polygon to query on other layers. Which method to buffer the polygon is better, offset or buffer? Besides the methods, is there a difference in these two tasks? Thanks, Chris

Ken, I am using a win 7 machine too, and get the error when I try to create the feature class. I have elevated this to tech support. I imagine that I have used some bad coding practices. Thanks for the help. Chris

Ken, The code works for a feature class path that does not have a space in it, but still throws a com error when the feature class path has a space in it. There should be a way around this because the tool in ArcMap will work when the path has a space in it. Any other ideas? Chris

Hey, I think that I figured out the problem that I am having, but not the solution. I have an add-in that creates a feature class if it does not exist. Sometimes it works and sometimes it gives a com error. I finally came to the conclusion that when the default.gdb (or the outpath) has a path in the name (as in windows xp default location) the createfeatureclass_management call has a com error. When you work on a windows 7 computer without a space in the default.gdb it works fine. Of course the developer computer was windows 7 and always worked, but the users computers had failures. My question is how do you submit the CreateFeatureClass_Management geoprocess when the outpath path has a space in it? I know you can do it from ArcMap, but how does it work in the add-in? Thanks, Chris

I can make it work with a hollow fill, but that is not optimum. I tried using a 10% hash fill and changed the color, but that rendered as a solid fill. When I view the layers from the rest endpoint website using the viewer, I can see the hash symbol, but not in my silverlight app. Not sure if I have something that causes a conflict in my code. Chris

The features will only render transparent if I add transparency in the xaml. The transparency designated in the service does not render. But the transparency is listed on the rest endpoint when you view it on the web. So it seems that the problem is getting the service to correctly render transparent. Do you have any ideas about that? Jennifer, The symbol is just a simple polygon fill that is rendered from a dynamic feature service. It is actually built from an SDE feature, not gdb. It is about as basic as you can get, a feature service with a simple polygon fill with the transparency set to 30%. If I set the transparency in the service, it does not render transparent on the map. If I set the transparency in the xaml, then it will render transparent, but the clone is not transparent while editing. Does the rest endpoint support transparency in a feature layer? Thanks, Chris

Hey, I can't seem to get the polygon labels to draw on my featureservice. The service draws, but the labels do not. Is is possible to render labels with a feature service? Thanks, Chris

Hey, I have been trying to make the polygon transparent while digitizing using the editor widget. The layer in the gdb for the service is transparent, and I also tried to make the service transparent in the xaml, but whenever you add a polygon, it draws solid. That makes it difficult for the users to see what they are doing. The poly turns transparent after they have finished digitizing. Is there a way to make the poly transparent while the user is digitizing? Thanks, Chris

You should be able to set up your colors in the map document (mxd) before you publish the service. The symbols will carry through to silverlight.

Dominique, I am mainly interested in unique maps. Where do I put that code to have it fire with the extent change? The page_changed does not seem to fire with extent change. Chris

Dominique, I tried that, but this only fires on load. I put a breakpoint in the sample and it only fired when the dialog loaded. Is there a way to catch the extent change on the map in the dialog? Chris
