Is this a problem for anyone else? Have I made the question clear enough?

I'm just curious what people have done to work around the issue when you create a map service and configure the pop-ups and styles through the flex viewer application and then you want to add a new layer in the middle of your operational layers? After adding the new layer in the middle of everything, my layers display is all messed up shifting everything up one or down one. For a while I would use the flex viewer application builder and delete my operational layers and then go back in and include all the operational layers from the my rest services. I would have to reconfigure my pop-ups and other settings. It would take a very long time. Then I got the idea to go into the configuration file for the map and just change the layer number to reflect what the newly published rest services said. But I'm wondering if someone has made a script or an easier work-around than that? Does ESRI have a better solution?

Yeah, it seemed to be an error due to my network and IE settings. Once I made it a secure site, I didn't have any more problems. Thanks, it works just fine now.

Sorry, I'm new to the flex viewer. I have been having a lot of problems getting our WMS hooked up to our Flex Viewer. Here is where our WMS is located online: http://imagery.carbon.utah.gov/latlonghistorical And here is the web map: http://maps.carbon.utah.gov/flexviewer/trails/ If you go to the web map, you'll see in the layers widget, it recognizes my WMS layer (CC_WMS) but it doesn't show up. Right above my CC_WMS layer, you'll also see a NRCan layer and if you zoom out to where you can see Canada it show up just fine. I've gone to my configuration file within the webmap, inserted my WMS information exactly the same as the NRCan layer, that works, and my CC_WMS layer still doesn't work. Below is how I've set up my config.xml file: <operationallayers>
<layer url="http://imagery.carbon.utah.gov/latlonghistorical" label="CC_WMS" wkid="102100" visible="true" type="wms" visiblelayers="2011_High Resolution Aerial" version="1.1.0" skipgetcapabilities="true"/> <layer url="http://wms.ess-ws.nrcan.gc.ca/wms/toporama_en" label="NRCan" wkid="900913" visible="true" type="wms" visiblelayers="limits" version="1.1.1" skipgetcapabilities="true"/>
I've tried putting the WMS in as a basemap layer and as an operational layer. Not sure where it should go as well. Any help would be great thanks! Jordan Behunin Email:jordan.behunin@carbon.utah.gov

When i get on to view our server Flex viewer there is an error that says, "Application Error: Could not fetch basemap data: HTTP request error". I don't know why it is that way or what to do about. Any suggestions? Here is the website: http://maps.carbon.utah.gov/flexviewer/CarbonCountyGeneralMap/ Thanks

That's very poor from ESRI. I'm not going to comprimise on the look of any map just for some PDF functionality. I've had 10.1 for less than a week and this is one of many issues I've experienced. I am already considering rolling back to v10, not impressed. I'm not impressed with how much ESRI wants to charge for ArcGIS online for an organization. It's absurd! Other cloud-based storage companies give you anywhere from 2 GB to 5 GB for free. As always ESRI wants your arm and leg for it. It's insane!

I am experiencing the same issue with 10.1. I have two point feature datasets, on top of two semi-transparent polygon feature datasets, as well as a basemap. I have group the polygons together, however I am still getting the Image and Other layers in the PDF file, despite trying the options above, e.g. vectorising. Call me a cynic but it looks to me that ESRI is trying to push users down the Publisher route. Regardless, any help/advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated. You are certainly going to need to turn your transparencies to 0% and ungroup whatever you have grouped. Otherwise, there isn't much of an option. Believe me, I spent a lot of time messing around with it before I gave into ESRI's solution.

I have tried to ADD A LAYER FROM WEB as a WMS several times, but it doesn't show up. It clearly sees and recognizes the WMS because when you click on the description of the layer, it brings up a document tree about the WMS. Here is the map title: Carbon County WMS 1997-2011 NAIP/Aerial Here is the WMS I'm trying to bring in: http://imagery.carbon.utah.gov/latlonghistorical/wms.asp? Here it is online working just fine: http://imagery.carbon.utah.gov/latlonghistorical/default.aspx Does anyone know what to do to get it to display the WMS? Oh and by the way, the comment about sending ESRI an email with the WMS that isn't working is not helpful. They didn't have much advice.

It was 20% transparent, but it wasn't the top layer. Thanks for you advice. I will try what you said and let you know how it goes.

Using ArcMap 10, I exported a map document to an interactive GeoPDF using the following options on: Save as type: PDF General Resolution: 300 dpi Output Image Quality: Best Ratio: 1:1 Format Destination Colorspace: RGB Compress Vector Graphics: ON Image Compression: LZW Picture Symbol: Rasterize layers with any picture marker/fill Convert Marker Symbols to Polygons: OFF Embed All Document Fonts: ON Advanced Layers and Attributes: Export PDF Layers and Feature Attributes Export Map Georeference Information: ON Clip Output to Graphics Extent: OFF When I open the PDF, there are three layers - one layer consists of the title, legend, and north arrow, another layer contains the map outline, the other layer contains an image of all the layers I want to be able to turn on and off, but they're compressed into one layer called Image. How do I get the "Image" layer to separate into the individual layers found in my regular map document? Why is it all or nothing? Attached is a copy of the PDF I've produced.

This presentation seems to be working now. There is a bug with web maps that contains CSV layers by reference. Perhaps you encountered this issue. Thanks, Mike Thank you for the response. I did take off two CSV layers yesterday and that explains why it must work. Is ESRI working to fix this bug now? Also, what happens if maps are created online and the data is corrupted? Who do we contact for future reference to have it fixed? I assume this won't be a problem when 10.1 comes out because I can save it locally and also upload it online.
