I just installed Collector (v10.3.4) on an LG G Pad 8.3 tablet (model VK810 4G) running Android 4.4.2. When I open the app it forces the screen into Landscape mode (cannot go portrait). It happens even if I disable screen rotation on the device. Has anyone else experienced this? Quite annoying to say the least. I personally prefer landscape for a lot of functions but being locked to it is limiting.

One more thing, I've heard that offline editing via desktop (what you've described) gets problematic with larger datasets, so that might not work out so well for you anyway (that might not be true anymore, but who knows until you try?) There's always going to be a need to sync the master dataset with the field dataset. You can spend the $$ to do it "automatically" via server (and I'm betting that wont be without it's own headaches). Or you can set up a manual synchronization workflows on a fixed schedule, whether it be daily or weekly.

We have not used collector for gathering new data, but we have successfully tested it for gathering inspection data on assets that are already in the GIS. I haven't tried collector for large scale data collection, but I don't see why it wouldn't work once you nail the process. It sounds like you're able to actually collect data with collector so that's a start. There's always going to be a certain level of head scratching and frustration to get these things working. Stick with it and you can get it sorted. For example, we use a completely non-ESRI approach for collecting points via RTK GPS (using Leica). We then export as a csv and use ArcGIS to assemble a master database of points. Attribute assistant is free, its a desktop plugin that allows you to auto-populate attributes based on a config table you set up. It's helpful to track who's editing what and when. I also use it to do things like auto-populate a valve diameter based on the pipe it's snapped to (but of course you need to pay attention to those cases when the valve size is different than the pipe, etc.), auto-rotate fittings, and you can also set it up to calculate new asset IDs sequentially for new valves and hydrants. This is all on Desktop BTW.

It's a little frustrating but if you can nail the workflow it gets easier. I would suggest time-stamping all of your creates and edits (you can do this on desktop using the Attribute Assistant) to make it easier to sort through new, updated, and unchanged features.

You may have a typo in "Your local feature class is not updated" sentence I follow a similar procedure, though I log on to AGOL and download the service as a file gdb (instead of creating a local copy for editing through ArcGIS). This way I have an archive of the data in case I need to fall back on anything. Also I create a backup of my "master" dataset before loading the features from AGOL. I never need these backups, until I do!

I appreciate the response, but I do not see my organization moving to a "Pro-only" environment any time soon, so that point doesn't quite apply. Regardless, it seems like pro is going to decide what to delete for you, which is my all-time favorite thing that any piece of software does for me. Can't wait! I'll run through that tutorial at lunch today and see if it sheds any light on my situation, but aside from that my original problem still stands (Why can't I check the intermediate property for that output?). The fact that pro will make this choice for me some day in the future makes the question even more important to me.

I'll look into this, thanks. Have you experienced any issues with this (i.e. memory leaks/corruptions etc. causing unexpected results)?

I apologize if I'm not being clear. I have a model with ~20 processing steps. Some of the outputs are checked as intermediate (see clip 1 example point distance with output marked as intermediate). These behave as expected, i.e. the intermediate output is deleted once the model has run. Clip 1: I have a second point distance that runs a few steps later with slightly different input. The option to check this data as intermediate is grayed out. I can't figure out why. I can set it as managed though? Clip 2: To top it all off, if I add a delete process to the model, that very same output is then checked as intermediate (model builder checks it, I didn't do it). If I remove the delete process then it reverts back to the second screen shot. Clip 3:

I'm running it from the toolbox where the model is saved. Intermediate data is being deleted, but I want to tag more data as intermediate so it is also deleted. For now I added a process to delete the data but IMO that seems cheap/unnecessary if the data could simply be tagged intermediate and automatically deleted. Really what I want is a better understanding so I can make more informed decisions when building models in the future. But as I said, the help seems to brush this one off as not so important.

I have a model where I can't set some of my outputs as intermediate data. I have some intermediate data in the model, that's great, but I have more data that needs to be checked as intermediate so it gets deleted once the model has run. One of those can be set to managed, but intermediate is grayed out. I just want it to be intermediate, not managed. There's no documentation (that I can find) that will explain what restricts an output from being called intermediate. Any insight would be greatly appreciated before I lose my mind.

I want to automate adding a domain to a field. I need to do this a bunch of times with multiple feature classes that have multiple subtypes. Is there a wildcard I can use for the subtype parameter to grab all of them? Another method I'm not thinking of? Assign Domain To Field (Data Management)

Brett, I don't have anything up for viewing right now, my project is still a work in progress. Based on my notes this was the iframe code I was using: <iframe width="950" height="550" frameborder="0" scrolling="yes" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="WebMapURL&disable_scroll=false"></iframe> I'm actually going to use a web app instead, which doesn't require this. Give it a try if you have a named user account.

I'm building a website and the primary purpose is to point to a web app. I don't have much programming skill, and I'm willing to learn but I'd also like to get my project out there ASAP. Ideally I would like to find some low cost web hosting to launch then build up from there. The issue with site builders like wix, squarespace, etc. is the dead space that's always at the bottom of the page. When I embed the webmap iframe in a "html container" on those sites the iframe can never go to the bottom of the page. This means I have a scrolling page around the webmap unless I'm using a large monitor. This causes poor usability on mobile devices. 1 option is to link directly to the webapp (which looks great on mobile) but I lose my site's navigation header, it opens multiple windows (which I'd like to avoid) and I'd want to mask the URL (probably not too tough??). The other option is to find a better web builder, so I'm reaching out here in case anyone has gone down the road. This isn't stritly an ArcGIS online question, but I'm sure there a lot of people who understand the process from start to finish so any help/suggestions would be appreciated!

Edited because I found my solution: I'm trying to create a simple website with an embedded ArcGIS online map and scroll wheel zooming doesn't work. To test this out I created a very simple html file that contains only the arcgisonline iframe but it does not work as I would like. What am I missing? Solution: Based on this thread adding the following parameter at the end of my map source URL fixed it for me: &disable_scroll=false
