The issue is not related to the ink file itself, but images referenced within the kml file that are https.

We encountered this same issue with Signed URL's from Amazon S3. The workaround we found was to keep generating a new URL (with a new signature string) until it contained no encoded plus signs (%2B), since those are likely being interpreted as spaces by the proxy.

We have been using the KML utility to display KML files in our JavaScript app for over a year. Yesterday or day before it suddenly stopped handling images that are served over HTTPS. Is this by design or a bug?

Put it in:
public override void GetUrl(Envelope extent, int width, int height, DynamicMapServiceLayer.OnUrlComplete onComplete)
{
...
}
Esri provides the source to these classes because they know folks will want to modify them. So go ahead and modify 🙂

I was afraid you'd say that. We have opened a ticket with ESRI since we really need to use encryped passwords so our applications and data can be accessed with a single login. But since AGS server no longer runs on IIS and ASP.NET, I have my doubts as to whether or not backend password decryption is possible anymore. Thanks for posting back!

I have the exact same issue. I don't see any place where this can be configured. Have you figured it out yet?

Another thing that would be nice is a way to control the naming of the graphics layers that get created. We use the layerId's to display in a feature navigation widget, and it's confusing to see graphicsLayer8, etc. show up there. Is this possible or will it mess up the parentLayer.Refresh() functionality?

Are there any plans to correct this behavior? It seems like a bug to me. I need to support an arbitrary number and ordering of KML layers. I suppose I could devise a method for doing the post-load reordering, but it would be nice not to have to... 🙂

You can hide the delete button easily with CSS: .esriAttributeInspector .atiButtons .atiDeleteButton { display: none;
}
As for creating a button, you will need to do that in javascript: var saveButton = new dijit.form.Button({ label: 'Save', 'class': 'atiSaveButton' });
dojo.dom-construct.place(saveButton.domNode, attributeInspector.deleteBtn.domNode, "after");

I would like to implement custom behavior when clicking on KML features. I can do this for non-KML feature layers and raster layers, but for some reason KML is giving me fits. The desired click behavior is: 1) I don't want to show a popup (I have accomplished this in a very hacky way with CSS), 2) I would like to query the layer with a buffered point and hand the resulting features to a sidebar component for analysis and display. (I can only accomplish this by clicking near enough to the features to grab them, but if I click on a graphic icon, the event is routed to the invisible infoWindow or whatever.) Is there a way to disconnect the KMLLayer's (and nested layers') onClick event and supply my own event handler? Thanks, Dan

The ability to set a proxy property on each layer would still be a useful feature. We currently can do this in Silverlight but not in js. Our customers often want to see map services from secure sources mashed up with public services from other servers. A global proxy setting forces all these layers to be routed through our proxy server, which is very inefficient and puts a lot of extra load on our server. It doesn't seem all that hard to add a property to the ESRI layer classes. Pretty please?

It would probably be easiest to create a Renderer to handle this. 3 steps: define the normal symbol define the selected symbol set the graphicslayer.renderer to a custom render that looks like this: public class CustomRenderer : IRenderer
{
public Symbol GetSymbol(Graphic g)
{
return g.Selected ? new SpecialSymbol() : new NormalSymbol();
}
}

I don't see how your Size DP connects to your DefiningGeometry. You should define the Size change handler to update it.
