I know the two of you have been working on it (thanks for that), and I did post a link to Stan's code here Re: WAB - Date range picker ....but I'm hoping it will be a new thread, doc, or blog post when complete. It's easier to link to the top of a discussion than deep into it. my opinion of course.

Nice demo. If/when you get it packaged as a widget or code others can use, let me know so I can stick on the resource list.

Nolan, re: your question about ArcSDE cost....depending on the version of software you are on (and assuming it is on maintenance), ArcSDE is included with ArcGIS Server in most cases (but check with your local ESRI rep or distributor to make sure). you can read more about all the forms of geodata What is Geodata including the various flavors that are available. I am most familiar with MS SQL, so have no suggestion on PostSQL (but there are threads that talk about it) Then it seems that maybe you need to look at creating a arcpy script that will automate the reading in of the spreadsheet, creating the events and a feature class (I recommend the file geodatabase), appending or replacing the database that feeds your service and refreshing it. You could set this up to do it at a specific time (weekly, daily, hourly). That is one option. Another would be to create a front end that allows the users to modify the database, preferably a "version" of the database, and then reconcile and post at a specific time. Sorry I don't have any code specific code to share that shows you how to do all this, but there are probably samples of similar workflows on Geonet and the web. By the way, it may help to know what version of the software you are using since their are subtle differences between them, and of course what is available licensing wise. I would suggest 10.2.x or higher

For the short term, I added a note re: the config folder to Web AppBuilder Developer Edition – Customization Resource List This is probably a good thing to point out.

Thanks Tim. I've added the links to the blog. I like that you added the option for UTM and other projections (from wkid)...and it geocoded (when there was actually an address). Very cool. A little bit of strange behavior between browsers. IE9 seems to behave as expected. FireFox (37.0.2), when using the number pad on the the side of the keyboard accepts the first number in the field, then wants to navigate. Chrome (latest) wanted to navigate the first time I tried, but working better (maybe user error) These where just quick tests, and sure not critical, but thought I'd mention. just fyi.

I don't have a definitive answer, but I'm guessing that by default it is capturing the image at a particular zoom/scale. If you're mxd is using a service with a cache, that might make sense since my guess is it would grab a cache and probably not do any on-the-fly rendering. Just wondering, is there an option to specify the scale factor with python?

I think that is worth a "correct answer" since you've documented it and no one else piped in. I'll probably run into this at some point and it's good to have it here.

A couple things to check. 1) check to make sure the values of devconn1 and devconn2 are the exact same in both MXDs and match the variable (i.e. upper/lower case) 2) I had this problem with on and running MXD doctor fixed it ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2) Also, I had an issue when trying to run my script thru ArcCatalog 10.2.x on a mxd saved as 10.3. (we have a mixed environment) Hope this helps. I'm working on a similar project right now....but with many more broken links.

We can't create a custom version (i.e. tag what we want) yet. Per Karen's note, the app (which we can download, but doesn't have the UC available) will be up and running in June. I was hoping the web version would be available to customize before that, but not hearing anything, I'm assuming they will be released at the same time.

yes, I would agree that is still a problem. Did you promote the idea yet? Looks like there is still only 90 points....getting this voted up may be our best best to get this added to future releases anyway. https://c.na9.visual.force.com/apex/ideaView?id=087E00000005ArlIAE if logged in ArcGIS Idea - Disable REST Services Directory through Web Adaptor if not. I had posted this above....but never hurts to do it again so others may see it.

Hi Curtis, I'll take a look at this in the morning, as mentioned, I haven't got to the point of cleaning up my script, and this is just one part...still trying to make sure I have all possible types covered. I'll know more by morning when I review the output.

Thanks Dan. Yep, either would work in my case. I was just having a brain fart I guess because I typically think about those options when assigning a variable and not the what I was doing. but of course that makes sense. I knew you guys would set me straight in a flash!
