Jay, I have two separate feature classes that I use, vehicles and positions. Vehicles contains the most current position information. Positions is all of the historic GPS information. This makes my ability to display the current position very simple. I don't have to query this positions table for the most current position. Going forward, I think WebSockets will be the way to go. It is somewhat chatty, but the messages will be only sending updates rather than querying the entire feature class every so many seconds. The GeoEvent server uses websockets. Regards, Tom

Neil, Yes, I used the code for a custom web app. There is also a post above from Brandon Flessner about using the code in an infoWindow (popup). If you are creating an app to share in the AGOL workspace, their popups don't use the EXIF information to properly orient the image and their isn't a way for you to configure the popup to make use of the EXIF information. You would have to save the app you created in AGOL and use Brandon's code to modify the popup for the image to orient properly. It would be ideal if the AGOL popups would honor the EXIF information. It might be good to post it as an idea. If it gets enough votes, they might consider adding functionality to display images with correct orientation. Regards, Tom

Kristian, I had posted a live example previously in this thread at: ArcGIS Web Application It is an example using my measure widget in WAB. Zoom in to a darker area of the basemap for better contrast. Select the line or polyline tool and start drawing. As you rotate the line you are drawing, you will see the text measurement with a halo. As you rotate you will see some angles have a smaller halo than others. I hope this helps. Regards, Tom

Yohan, I also inspected the code for each of the text items and it all looks identical. <text fill="rgb(0, 0, 0)" fill-opacity="1" stroke="none" stroke-opacity="0" stroke-width="1" stroke-linecap="butt" stroke-linejoin="miter" stroke-miterlimit="4" x="690" y="295" text-anchor="middle" text-decoration="undefined" rotate="0" kerning="auto" text-rendering="auto" font-style="italic" font-variant="normal" font-weight="bold" font-size="20" font-family="Courier" dominant-baseline="alphabetic" filter="url(#halo_map_graphicsLayer3_255_255_255_1_2)" transform="matrix(0.62124526,-0.78361618,0.78361618,0.62124526,20.17399446,647.42781427)" fill-rule="evenodd">190.6'</text> You are probably right. It is most likely a Chrome bug. Regards, Tom

Yohan, I was able to modify my measure widget Measure Widget 2.1 for Web App Builder to have a halo. It is pretty subtle but it appears to me, at certain angles the text halo disappears. You can experiment yourself with my widget at: ArcGIS Web Application I tried it in other browsers and the halo does appear to work properly. Regards, Tom

Andrew, The range for alpha should be a value from 0 to 1. Maybe that is creating your inconsistency? Regards, Tom

Yohan, Do you have an app that can be used to test? It would be helpful for diagnosing/replicating the problem. Is the text added as a label layer or just as graphics? Regards, Tom

Shay, I can look into adding another checkbox that removes the segment measurements. As an alternative you can also use the Draw widget to draw shapes that will give area and perimeter measurements. Regards, Tom

Greg, There was also a post from a couple of years ago that uses a similar method, but might work on your projection. https://community.esri.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/525576-1-135992/pointAlongLine.txt.zip Regards, Tom

Greg, Is the basemap in your app also in that projection? or is it web mercator? If your basemap is in web mercator, you can set the outSpatialReference for the query to web mercator. Something like: query.outSpatialReference = new SpatialReference(102100); Regards, Tom

Greg, You are welcome! I had used this method for placing arrows that represent bus locations based on their current schedule. The original code was in ActionScript, but works well in JS too. Regards, Tom
