Actually it's not my code, it was created with the app and I found that the FilterManager was already there by default, so I searched the command you mentioned in the post you were referring to and found it inside already.. So yes, they call the FilterManager in the require section before using it. see the attached screenshot -

I am probably missing here something.. It doesn't work because once this command runs - FilterManager.getInstance(); The result is undefined.. there is no instance.. I tried to define a filter for this layer in the filter widget + a filter in the webmap itself but the instance stays undefined. Do you happen to know what exactly this code is trying to initialize? Shay.

Thank you Robert! It looks promising but the FilterManager does not have a method called applyWidgetFilter.. I tried it on the app's code in the jmu.js folder Shay.

But then it's permanent and the user cannot change it also, there is no option to filter it with formulas like in arcmap to use the current date as a parameter. Shay.

Hi Robert, Thank you, but from what I know, when the widget starts with the application, it does not commit a filter on the layer, it just shows the widget screen.. Do you know on a way to choose a custom fiter to run when it opens up? (only on startup and not each time the user clicks the widget). Shay.

Hello, Is there any way for me to filter a layer on startup of an application? My current solution was to publish the same layer twice in a web map service. One layer shows all records. The other one is filtered by date. I want to have only one layer published and when the user starts the appilcation, filter it by date and let him do as he pleased. Is there a way to configure a widget with a certain filter to kick-in on startup? Regards, Shay.

Thanks that makes sense now. Isn't there an option to filter out some fields from the results and popup windows? Regards, Shay,

Hello Robert Scheitlin, GISP, I've just discovered that when I mark fields in the "Popup Only" inside the endot identify layer - window options, the fields I choose are the one that does NOT show up in the results when using the widget... Is that the right behaviour? isn't it supposed to be the other way around? I hope I was clear enough in my explanation.. here's a screenshot of what I mean.. notice the blue circle in the right where I chose 1 field and the blue circle in the left which shows that in the results popup, my selected field is hidden.. I thought that the title "popup only" in the "include fields" section should indicate those fields are the only one to show up.. Thanks, Shay.

So after a nice chat by mail, the simple answer is that my implementation was wrong, since the runtime SDK was not meant to be used as a server side solution with a WCF or any other web services. I can think of a few different solutions but I'll have to try them first to see if they work. More info in the following link - https://community.esri.com/message/605185?commentID=605185#comment-605185 Thank you antti kajanus Shay.

oh great! Thanks for the tip It's very elegant to tell users to use a different widget for hiding the length measurements but I guess it will do for now. Shay.

Hello, Does anyone have a code snippet to show an example of how can I switch on a group of layers programmatically in an app when it starts? based on the fact that I know if this group of layers (or just one layer) actually exist in the webmap of course.. I want to try create a "custom group view" of visible layers for users, so I need to start with a simple example of programmatically show a specific layer which I know it exists in the app. Thanks, Shay.

Hello, Thanks a lot for this great tool! Users find it very useful. Someone asked me if there is an option to hide the measurements for length when they want to see only the area size. I couldn't find a way to do it and I was wondering how complicated it might be? I suppose it would be best to have another checkbox for that. Thanks, Shay.
