Hi Ben, Are you using the 3D Layer to Feature Class tool in ArcMap or ArcScene? The tool uses the 3D layer properties and creates the multipatch. In ArcMap there are no 3D properties, so the resulting multipatch would be flat. You will need to run the tool in ArcScene with the 3D properties applied to the layer. Hi Simon, Interesting find. I noticed that this same phenomenon with the Iraq-Jordan border happens on the Bing Maps site as well. http://www.bing.com/maps/ -Timothy

Adam, Currently you cannot create a profile graph to scale. There is an enhancement request currently logged with support. You might look to post this idea on the Ideas page - http://ideas.arcgis.com That might help bring some additional support from the community concerning this functionality. I did find some additional resources that may be help. Check these out: http://mappingcenter.esri.com/index.cfm?fa=ask.answers&q=37 http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2005/1428/thoms/index.html -Timothy

I am not sure you are able to change the the transparency in ArcGIS Explorer. That functionality is not currently available in ArcGIS Desktop. You can convert the graphics to features and then apply the transparency to the new layer. Converting graphics into features

Check out this older post: How do I 'label' an elevation raster to see individual cell values It references the Cell Tool: http://edndoc.esri.com/arcobjects/9.0/Samples/SpatialAnalyst/CellTool/CELLTOOL.htm You will notice that the tool was written at 9.0. You can add it into ArcGIS 10, but only the boundary tool will work. There is a extent error with the other tools.

No, you cannot label a raster. The closest thing you could do would be to convert the raster to points and then label the points with the symbology null.

Once you have the multiple buffers created for the police stations, you will need to perform a spatial join with the buffer layer and the crime points. Within this tool you can specify the type of summary you would like performed. Finding what is inside a polygon

Yeah, I understand your concern. I think that the command functions are being pushed towards Python. You can access the Spatial Analyst tools and functions through the Python window so there is less reliance on the raster calculator. Although it can be difficult to adapt to the new software changes, there are many benefits to learning these new areas within the software.

I am pretty sure that the 'mosaic' function does not work in the Raster Calculator since it was rewritten for ArcGIS 10 with the changes to the Spatial Analyst toolbar. If you do not want to use the geoprocessing tools, I would suggest using the Python window instead. You can find a sample of the mosaic code at the bottom of the help document: Mosaic (Data Management)

When you click on the red x it should give you an error message. Try changing the output location to your C:\temp folder and also make the name is no longer than 13 character unless you specify an output format other than grid.

What happens when you zoom in on the image beyond the pyramids? Do the source rasters have the white lines? If you have ArcEditor or ArcInfo try creating a Mosaic Dataset (unmanaged) with the images and see if the white lines remain. If images display correctly, you could then export the mosaic dataset out to another raster format. The workflow and tools to create mosaic datasets
