dear Readers, good afternoon. We are experimenting with Excalibur to help our staff members to use it. We liked many of the nice features presented. We were able to: add a time enabled imagery service, select desired years from the stack of imagery, and swipe to see the difference between the 2 selected years. We were able to: mark up a polygon to identify a change, measure the actual area, and create a text of the observation and the approx. area/ We could not or figure out a way to: save the feature (marked up polygon) and text with format and retrieve when any 'previously saved' data by any user in that particular area. This help page did not talk about persisting on a file or an enterprise geo database: Is this feature available now? we can dedicate an enterprise SDE (on sql server) if needed. any guidance would be of great help. thanks and regards ravi kaushika.

Thanks to ESRI staff members. Creating Toolbar using Add-in was easier than the COM route.

Good morning. thank you for your help. We completed the following tests on SITES and figured out the following: We could put data and users in different groups and share the data amongst the members of the groups. We were pleased with the 'permissions' needed for outside group users. It was simple enough for staff members to drag and drop contents to the page. Our next question: Instead of teaching our state users to modify ESRI's default template can we create an OUR Template with standard colors, logos etc, can our design staff decide the colors, logo to match our agency? If such OUR Template is possible, we would also remove a few links that are not applicable to our operations. Using OUR Template we can minimize our training of our field staff members and their time adding content. We also want to be sure OUR Template changes are available seamlessly when we upgrade from 10.7.x or 10.8.x and we don't have to re-create this template. thank you for your support. regards Ravi Kaushika.

dear Readers, good afternoon. thank you for taking the time to read through my queries. A brief history: We developed a COM arcobjects toolbar with commands, tools, and menu in 2008 to INTERFACE with our enterprise Customer Service Toolkit (CSTK) - a client tool that had ArcToolbar and other windows components. Our toolbar was written using VB.NET. and we were continuously upgrading this toolbar to the latest version of ArcGIS, windows OS, CSTK, and .net framework every few years when there was an enterprise wide (nation wide) upgrade. Right now CSTK is replaced by another web based tool that uses REST services and other web protocols. Our toolbar needs to be 'upgraded' from COM dll ArcObjects to something new... Info: OUR toolbar would do the following: import feature and attribute data from CSTK, modify the spatial data using Microsoft system graphics, ArcGIS tools and menus, attribute data using VB forms, store most of the information in file geo-database and in MS Access, and feed the relevant modified data to another program. One of the available options to avoid COM registrations and issues would be add-in. Our general direction and team strengths: We understand that Arcgis 10.7.1 has better support for lidar data (than 10.5) and so does ArcGIS Pro 2.5.x. Since our users in the field are familiar with ArcGIS 10.5 and 10.7.1 - we want to delay introducing tools in ArcGIS Pro by 12 months to 18 months. Our development team has experience in VB.NET (rumors plenty about VB.NET's reduced support), C#, Python, HTML, JavaScript, XML, JSON, and related technologies. We want to create a client tool as our users might be in regions of limited internet connectivity. Questions: Pardon my ignorance about Add-ins - will be watching videos about add-ins. Does Add-in support our requirements of the toolbar (not CSTK) that we are planning to write for arcgis 10.7.1 and may be ArcGIS Pro later on. Is ESRI's suggested route Python or C# for developing Add-ins ensuring that we are not caught on the wrong foot in the future - we have staff knowledgeable in both. Any guidance to the above questions and beyond would be greatly beneficial. thank you in advance. thanks and regards Ravi.

Gintautas Kmieliauskas, good afternoon. thank you for a fast response. I didn't realize that I had ONLY a professional version of Visual studio of 2017. I marked it correct for the answer to benefit the few ArcObjects junkies like myself. thanks and regards ravi.

Gintautas Kmieliauskas, Sorry for not reaching out to you earlier. Hope you had a good new year. thanks for your guidance. When I wrote the question on this forum, I was trying to fix my code with minimum modifications to ensure that overall user experience is not modified. Here are few things I noted before replying to your suggestion: when I change from line 1 to line 2, nothing happens in terms of behavior: Dim pAppROT As ESRI.ArcGIS.Framework.IAppROT = New AppROT()
Dim pAppROT As IAppROT = New AppROT() when I checked the registry based on your suggestions - I saw 2 entries with that GUID and surprisingly for each esri entry, there is additional entry with suffix of .1. please refer the attached PDF. at first, I had ArcGIS 10.7.x and it was downgraded to 10.5.1 (7000+ build number) and later to 10.5.0.6491. Any suggestions to remedy the double entry of the registry as seen in the attached PDF? Many years ago, there was a walkthrough to 'add' the .tlb and associated files to an installation package that would also register the COM objects into a deploy/ visual studio install project with appropriate COM reg and unreg commands. If I am not wrong it was for 10.3 or older, Win XP and VS 2015 or older. Do you have any guiding documents?. I have been searching for this in the sibling folders of https://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcobjects/latest/net/webframe.htm#COMComponentCategoryAndCOMInterop.htm thank you for your help. regards ravi kaushika

dear Readers, thank you for taking the time to help me out. We are upgrading an ArcObjects VB. NET application written in 2008; it was periodically upgraded to the enterprise approved ArcGIS. Currently we are upgrading that ArcObjects Toolbar from ArcGIS 10.3 to 10.5. (build 10.5.0.6491). System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException occurred HResult=0x80040111 Message=Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {FABC30FB-D273-11D2-9F36-00C04F6BC61A} failed due to the following error: 80040111 ClassFactory cannot supply requested class (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040111 (CLASS_E_CLASSNOTAVAILABLE)). Dim pApplication As ESRI.ArcGIS.Framework.IApplication = Nothing
Dim pAppROT As IAppROT = New AppROT() It failed at New AppROT() declaration with the above error. I know it is a namespace issue and any help will be greatly appreciated. In the meanwhile, I will be trying to 'fix' it by trying some changes... thanks and regards ravi kaushika

dear Readers, thanks for taking the time to read through my question. I am trying to start with a sample code with python script. Question: Which python interpreter should be used 2.7.x (32 bit) that came with ArcGIS 10.x (6 or higher) or Py 2.7 (x64)? will import arcpy work on that? I am unable to import ArcGIS module or use 'from ArcGIS.gis import GIS' if I make ArcGIS module work by changing it to 3.6.2 (conda) version then my arcPy goes away. I have both ArcGIS pro and ArcGIS desktop advanced suite running on my workstation and virtual machine. yes, I am beginner in Python but many years experience with ESRI objects and 'ArcObjects'. any documentation or guidance would be great. thanks for your help. regards ravi kaushika

dear Readers, good afternoon. Max image size per request documentation: Image service parameters—Documentation | ArcGIS Enterprise - mentions the upper limit of the image size to be obtained. Currently Parameters on the image service on Mosaic dataset: 15,000 X 15,000 (rows x columns) and on the service. Along with 30m, 10m, 3m, we are also sharing 1m LiDAR and derivatives. Documents clearly mention that both service parameters on the mosaic dataset and service should be restarted. Questions: Should we increase the rows X columns => 28000 x 28000 for 1m LiDAR if yes: what are the other parameters that need to be changed (following are default values at 15,000 X 15,000 setting): Max # of rasters per mosaic = 200 Max # of records returned per request = 1000 Max # of items downloadable per request = 60 Max size = 4096 Apart from these values, are additional parameters such as no of minimum instances need to be changed? We have shared derivatives as layers to reduce server overhead instead of just sharing elevation layer and letting the users request derivatives on the server or doing the derivatives by themselves on the client. Hope it is ok. Previous query related to max image size was done in 2012 during the image server times. On a side note, we are sharing 1m, and 3m LiDAR and derivatives for at least 30% of the 48 contiguous states, 10m and 30 m for the entire region. Any optimization would greatly benefit the end users to a large extent. thanks for your time.

dear John Graham, good afternoon. We have the following setup - main reason why I am explaining this is because we are unable to configure IIS log. We have the following setup: ArcGIS Monitor machine without IIS - name = myArcGISMonitorMachine. AGS MainServer configured as LB = myArcGISServer00 2 load balancing machines myArcGISServer01 and myArcGISServer02 (both listed as machines on myArcGISServer00/ArcGIS/manager.html site). Main Question: on IIS log path: example: \\myserver\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1 - is the mention; does that myServer represent myArcGISMonitorMachine, myArcGISServer01, or myArcGISServer02. I tried to force it on \\myArcGISServer01\inetpub\,,, \after allowing read write to inetpub and it failed. Which gave an error:System.Exception: An error occurred during log collection: Could not assemble log file list from the specified disk location! Access to the path '\\myArcGISServer01.myDomain.Com\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1' is denied. at ESRI.PS.EIST.SystemLogParser_Plus.CLI.StartHere.Main(String[] args) Where do the logs from myArcGISServer01 failure logs reside on the framework I had mentioned? thanks for your support regards Ravi.
