I'm not the original down-voter but I did just down-vote this idea since I think the realities of implementing something like this would fundamentally change the nature of Workforce for the worse. The workflow described where the customer has additional items that need to be tracked which in turn requires a more complex data schema is best served by Collector where you can set up and customize the schema any way you want. Even better, the customer could pretty easily implement an App Integration between Collector and Workforce to facilitate opening Collector from Workforce to track those additional metrics. They could even track everything within the same dataset/feature layer if they liked by creating the Workforce project manually and extending the Workforce schema with additional fields as needed. However, asking Workforce to support completely custom fields throws is a pretty big ask in terms of extending the UI of the dashboard and mobile apps to handle this and would likely only serve to confuse the product's purpose and mission. Customizing some of the existing workforce domain values I could understand - for example extending the priority domain or changing the coded value descriptions to something more meaningful to your organization. Custom schemas though - Collector is your friend. Sorry. Just my 2 cents.

Project Templates are extremely useful. They allow us to provide end users with a standard set of Styles, Folder Connections, Server Connections, DB Connections etc. so that when they are getting to work, everything they need is right at their fingertips. However, sometimes our users get started with a blank project only to find out later that they should have started with one of our Project Templates. In this case, there is no way for them to go back and apply the template to their existing project, adding those folder connections, styles, server connections, defaulting the basemap, etc. It would be nice to be able to let users apply a template to existing projects.

Currently, when you Export a Portal Item using the Export Data button on a Portal Item's Details Page, a modal dialog is raised where you enter all of the metadata for the exported item that will be generated. When you click export, portal creates the item and then takes you to that item's details page so that you can download it. Please add a checkbox to the Modal Dialog to automatically start the download as soon as the item is generated so that I don't have to click download. Also, include an option to not generate a portal item. Maybe I just want to export and download the item, but don't necessarily want to keep a copy of the exported item it in my Portal Content. In that case, Portal could create the item, automatically start the download and then delete the item after the download has completed.

Thanks folks. I put in an ArcGIS Idea to try and get vector basemaps added to the Pro basemap gallery. Vote it up. https://community.esri.com/ideas/14030

I'm using ArcGIS Pro 2.0 and I want to use the World Navigation Vector Basemap Service as my basemap. I can't figure out how to add it to ArcGIS Pro though. It doesn't show up in the basemap list and clicking the Open in ArcGIS Desktop button on the item details page means that ArcMap tries to open it. The only work around I've figured out so far is to create an empty webmap on ArcGIS Online which contains the vector basemap, save that and then open that webmap in ArcGIS Pro. Surely that's not the only way to do this.

Great thought. Never going to happen. All new development is going to Pro. ArcMap is dying on the vine.

Your addresses might be standardized with this kind of functionality, but accurate, I'm not so sure. Latitude and Longitude are still your most accurate indicator of location. Geocoding is an imperfect science. Esri does a great job, but man it is really hard and never 100%. If you're really after this kind of functionality, you could write an SOI to automatically geocode a feature when it is created and write the address values into some fields in your service. Therein lies another problem with your request, Esri would need to make a lot of assumptions about your data schema in order to facilitate this. What fields do you want them to write the address into? I'd bet the way you organize your address fields is slightly different from the way the next customer organizes theirs. Also, where would you want to configure kind of capability? On the layer? Which Geocoding Service would you want to use? Esri's World Geocoding Service? Do you want to use your own Geocoding Service? It's not possible to add new fields to an existing service, your fields have to already exist. So which fields do you want the addresses written into? How do you want the address components parsed? Do you want them parsed at all? So many big challenges with this. It's not as simple as you think.

The inverse of this would also be useful for when you have lots of points that are geographically coincident.

GIS Mountains, What exactly are you trying to accomplish by direct-connecting to the Datastore? There are likely much better alternatives to do whatever it is that you want which would not put the integrity of the Datastore at risk. Direct Connecting to and tinkering with the Datastore is almost always a very bad idea.

A significant effort would be an understatement. TD13 houses our entire data warehouse. We currently have no plans to go to 14, for some reason that no one will tell me.

Hello, The Workforce for ArcGIS FAQ indicated this would be the place to drop a line about a feature request. We have a need for our Back-Office associates (ie. "Dispatchers"), to receive active alerts or notifications when the status of a task changes. Currently, the way Workforce is designed, when the status of a task is changed by the Field Worker, it is updated in the dataset but the dispatcher must continually check the status manually. My customers want some type of notification capability that informs them when a status has changed. Perhaps this kind of capability is already present and it is just more subtle and we haven't noticed it. If that were the case, I'd like to ask for a configuration option to make change notifications more noticeable. Perhaps something like the Growl-style notifications used in ArcMap for Background Geoprocessing or maybe a simple Alert badge sitting in a notification drawer. Just something to inform my dispatchers "<worker> changed the status of <task> from <a> to <b>".

Try putting all of your files into into a File Geodatabase and then using the License Geodatabase tool to restrict access to it with a license file. This will give you a way to issue a license file for that Geodatabase and also set an expiration. Once you've done that, create your package from that Geodatabase. When someone tries to open the package, I'd bet they'd need that license file.

I would like to be able to determine what a user's licensing configuration is programmatically through the SoftwareAuthorization.exe application. It is possible to get some of this information by reading the registry, but there's a fair amount of information that cannot be obtained through any documented process, such as: Which data licenses are installed Whether or not the user has a borrowed license If they have a borrowed license, what licenses, including extensions are borrowed Other information such as the user's software class (license level), seat preference and license server can all be obtained from the registry, but really it should be obtainable by just calling softwareauthorization.exe with some commands and switches to get that information reported through StdOut.
