James Tedrick please disregard above question. Brain fart. Obviously I could set default date today() or something like that. What I meant was, is there a way to make it default to blank? Sorry for confusion. Thanks again!

Thanks Zachary Sutherby. I will have to dig into this a little more. Regarding your last point about requiring users to update to the latest version, what constitutents a new version of the survey? When I republish it via Connect? Or would a scheduled run of updateMediaFolder.py trigger the user to update the survey? If the latter is true, then I think that would negate the need for me to have a note in the survey showing how old the files in the media folder are. Thanks again!

Hi James Tedrick, thanks! Where can I access the Item Details? Can that be done in Survey123 or ArcGIS Online or some other method? Thanks again!

Hi James Tedrick thanks for getting back to me on this. I did the other day think to add a constraint so this shouldn't be an issue as far as the value passing. Is there a way to make the default value be something different than 12/31/1969? No worries if not. This one is low priority for me at this point. Thanks again!

I hate to be a pest to the ESRI ESRI folks, but I could really use some help. I have asked several questions throughout the course of this week, and I haven't gotten any responses. I usually get a response within 24 hours if not sooner (which I have been extremely grateful for!). Is this no longer the place to get Survey123 questions answered? Sorry to be impatient, but I only have a couple weeks to spend on form development each year before a new field season begins (which is next Friday - yikes!). Anyway, I'd appreciate it if folks could take a look at the following questions I have posted and share any insight you might have: Would two distinct surveys return same unique identifiers for deviceID? Can I rename field aliases in Survey123 form without losing data? Would two distinct surveys return same unique identifiers for deviceID? Is there a way to retrieve date that media file was last updated and capture it in Survey123 field? I posted a follow-up question to this question I asked last year. Scroll to replies from this week to see it. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help! Jim Moore Philip Wilson James Tedrick Ismael Chivite

Hi James Tedrick, thanks again for pointing me in the direction of that article. I did add a field to my survey without losing any data just like the article said (yay!). However, I forgot to set the alias name when I first republished it with the new field so when I downloaded the data (via DownloadSurvey123Data.py) my new field was the same as the label ("Business Name"). This is a totally different format than all of my other field names (i.e., all lower case, underscores instead of spaces). I tried retroactively setting the alias in xlsform and republishing via Connect, but it is still downloading in label format. Is there a way I can change the alias without losing any data? Or is there a workaround I could include in DownloadSurvey123Data.py so that it captures the field name as "vendor" instead of "Business Name"? If it is helpful, the question name in the 'name' column of the xlsform is "vendor" also. Thanks in advance!

I was considering sending a very simple survey to all of my users who submit data in a separate survey for CWD surveillance. The simple survey would ask what their name is, which device they are using, and would capture deviceID. I would have each of these folks submit one entry from each of their devices they might use to submit data (phones, PCs, tablets, etc.). I was hoping I could use this information to then create a lookup file that would prepopulate (via pulldata) who is entering the data in our CWD surveillance database. However, this would only work if the unique identifier for deviceID was the same for both surveys. Is there any reason to suspect that they would be the same? Any advice is appreciated! Can this be done via pulldata or perhaps through a java function? I have never done a javascript function before, but I did just read this article. I would like to add this date as a calculated field in my chronic wasting disease (CWD) surveillance app. I have a series of scheduled R scripts update several .csv files in my media folder on my PC, and I have several updateMediaFolder.py scripts that run a lagged schedule that then update those files in the cloud. This works great for QA/QC on several fields that we track in our database. However, when the user forgets to redownload the survey or one (or more) of my scripts isn't working, the user enters the data manually which inevitably leads to a lot more errors. Therefore, I would like to have a field that shows when those media file folders were last updated. Any help is greatly appreciated! James Tedrick Ismael Chivite survey123 calculations

James Tedrick I am updating this form (the one mentioned in the original question) for this year's field season, and I was wondering if there is a way to default the harvest date to blank instead of Wednesday, December 31, 1969. When there is a match via pulldata function, it is not an issue. However, when there isn't a match and staff have to enter data by hand, the auto-populated 12/31/1969 often gets over-looked. How might I correct this? Thanks in advance!
