Hi Philip, What's curious to me is why my survey (with MANY nested repeats), does submit data as expected, but hangs on the submitting data screen.  I have an open ticket right now on this issue (Esri Case #0200354).  We absolutely need this functionality for our project, and are a bit disappointed that our Help Ticket has been open as long as it has and the analyst was unaware of such limitation.  We have upwards of 5 nested repeats in our form.  As I mentioned, if we fill these all out, and submit the data does write to the feature classes/tables correctly, the Survey123 application however has to be restarted since it gets stuck on the submitting data splash window.  Note, we are also updating data against our own Feature Service if that matters. If we cannot use nested repeats, we absolutely need a valid workaround, so I am interested in trying your workaround.  Any additional info you can pass along would be appreciated. Thanks - it turns out it was a couple things. First, I had issues not being able to create/add content so I changed the unfederated, and then federated again using the admin path for both URLs.  That appeared to fix the first issue.  Second, I had troubles with creating the workbook and was receiving two different errors; certificate error, and servlet error. I had a chat with Esri yesterday and we got most of everything squared away, however now I am seeing old items in my insights Add Data page.  Here is what we did: Installed Insights on ArcGIS Server box This allowed me to create a workbook, but not add data The URL for the data was incorrect (using https and port 6080) Tried updating the federated server paths on the Sharing Rest page This worked for changing the paths to the portal and admin paths, but we kept seeing Internal Server 500 Errors Unfederated server Federated server using portal URL and admin URL This allowed me to add data with the correct URL, but we had old data showing up in Portal We deleted the items from the arcgisportal folder, which removed them from Portal, but not from the Insights Add Data page Uninstalled Insights on Portal machine Repaired install of Portal Installed Insights on Portal machine Uninstalled Insights on ArcGIS Server machine Installed Insights on ArcGIS Server machine Everything is working normally, except on the Add Data page of Insights you still see the old items. I too am having this issue. I removed the federated server, and federated again following the suggestion to use the administrative path for both URLs. That resolved the issue I saw on this post about not seeing Feature Layer as options in the Add Items drop down menu. My error changed in Insights to "Error: Create Service error: Servlet execution threw an exception". Any ideas? ... View more

Hi Brian, No, and I would not expect it to ever be done through Attribute Assistant, AGOL, etc. You may want to look into spinning up your own script to handle your field calculations. Thanks, Chris ... View more

Hi Marcus, Using python scripts to call Attribute Assistant is not the method I am describing.  My apologies for being vague.  What I meant was you could write your own python script to replicate many of the methods that exist attribute assistant, through geoprocessing functions and other spatial modules. I want to bump this post because I am having similar issues getting the legend to behave correctly. We've put together a simple map maker application for others to quickly go online, select the layers they want to display, and print.  The template was setup with all of the layers from the map maker application in the TOC, turned on, so we could theoretically see the maximum size the legend could be.  Once we had the columns, style, and size figured out, the layers were turned off and we had our template.  However when you print, the legend does not respect the settings from the template.  As items are added, the top of the legend moves up, rather than the bottom moving down.  So we switched the position of the legend to the bottom of the page so as items are added, it will move up.  This worked until we had too many items and no new columns were being created (even though we setup the legend to have 3 columns). Every time we push out one of the Utility Editing templates we include the default AA functionality and rules.  Plus, we configure the Generate ID (with or without Grid), for most of the Facility ID fields. If there was anything we would like to see in the future, it would be the ability to run the rules from the database, rather than a map document.  For instance, fields for last editor/date we don't typically use AA.  Many of our clients need these fields updated while editing data in a Feature Service, so AA comes up short for them.  I know the basic response to this has been look into GeoEvent Processor to leverage your AA rules in the web environment, which many of our clients have gone ahead and requested.  But if the rules could somehow work against the database like a trigger, rather than a plugin in the software, then that would be great. ... Attribute Assistant is not configured to work with ArcGIS for Server feature services, and therefore edits applied from the web are not "listened" by Attribute Assistant. There is an ArcGIS Idea to implement the functionality in a web environment: http://ideas.arcgis.com/ideaView?id=087E000000059fTIAQ Also, others have configured the GeoEvent Processor to have similar functionality as the Attribute Assistant.  There are methods for performing a variety of field calculations using the GeoEvent Processor, and therefore can be configured to do many of the Attribute Assistant methods. As an alternative approach, you can implement a few features and workflow adjustments to use Attribute Assistant and Attribute Assistant-like methods against web edits. Host your web data through a "web" version. If you have a versioned SDE then creating a web version to host your feature services will keep all edits made online in that version.  Then opening the data in ArcMap, you could Manually run the Create/Change rules on selected features.  These selected features would be the new edits made to the data.  Although it does not automatically use the Attribute Assistant when edits are made, this still uses the rules and methods of the Attribute Assistant.  If you can put this into your workflow, it is one way of getting the value of Attribute Assistant into your web edits. Enable Editor Tracking Many people hate losing the ability to track who and when something was edited online.  However, using Editor Tracking (not Attribute Assistant) to take this information, edits are tracked both in desktop and web environments.  You can even leverage the security settings on ArcGIS for Server to force authentication from users to view/edit the data.  This would then use their login as the editor. Nightly Python Scripts to update data Although this would take a bit of work, I have seen organizations implement update scripts using python to run a nightly basis and update data.  For instance, if you have spatial methods in Attribute Assistant such as GENERATE ID BY INTERSECT, then you could implement a script to perform such functions on your data every night, to update the attributes.  Experience with python scripting is obviously the caveat here, but this would require no schema change to your environment. Ultimately, workarounds exist, but like many others, this functionality is desired in the web environment.  With GeoEvent processor available however, I doubt there are any internal pushes from Esri to implement a web version of Attribute Assistant any time soon.
