When I select a featureclass or shapefile in Catalog View it seems to zoom to the area of the shapefile/featureclass but only shows basemap but not the actual feature. What am I missing?

Thanks Tom, yes that helped. I dont know who or where to direct this, but I think it could be very helpful if the help topics, such as the ones you linked to, had more pictures to show where things are/ should look.

I changed the scale bar so they both went to 1,500 feet and they were exactly the same width. All my maps and layouts were set to 1:12000 so I cant see how it could reference anything else, and even without consideration to the look of the scale text or scale bar, all layout maps where set to 1:12000 in the bottom left side of the screen but it was pretty obvious from looking at the map that they were drawing differently. I have since deleted the map and layout and made new and now its all fine. But I find this very worrying that it is possible to have this happen - it was set at 1:12000 but was drawing at god nows what.

I use Layout Export to pdf set at 300 dpi, and what do I get?: What am I doing wrong?

In ArcMap I can have several MXD's open at once and set them up to export layout to pdf so they are all working at it at the same time. The 'Modern' "Pro" is multi threaded and supposed to multitask but when I set one layout to export I have to wait until its finished before I can do anything else. I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong, since this is the amazing modern flagship of ESRI we are dealing with. So how do I set it up to multitask?

I am also having this issue but we use McAfee antivirus. My curser (?) also sometimes gets stuck on zooming in or out and it just keeps trying to zoom and I have to do a hard shutdown of "Pro"

I have a new project where I inserted 2 maps with the same data. Inserted a layout from a temple and made a copy. I set the scale in the layout to 1:12000 but the scale is obviously different even though the scale is shown on the map to be 1:12000. What is going on? As you can see from the scale at the very top it is the same paper/layout size in both.

I cant figure out if what I am looking for is available or not. I am trying to do the equivalent to this in layout for printing maps: If it is doable, can someone please direct me to where I set this?

Hi Tom Ok. I can see that I have to do things in a correct order to avoid getting too much into my Legend. But this does lead me to another question you might know the answer to: Is it possible to have the same 'folder' structure to the layers in the legend as it was in ArcMAp. This is what I mean: In ArcMap, when you choose which layers to include in the legend the list of layers has the option of opening and closing layers in folder in the same way it is in the TOC: Whereas "Pro" just shows all layers in one (potentially very) long list:

I am trying to avoid having all layers in my map in my legend. For this reason I have not checked the box Synchronize with Map - New Layer I have made a layout file with the above setting. When I add this layout to my project and set which map the Map Frame should reference - immediately all the layers in that map are added to the Legend. As shown here: Added layout and legend is empty: I set the Map frame to reference the Map And now the legend is full of layers that I DO NOT WANT THERE

Especially in Layouts, I have two basic text symbols I use for labels (both Labels drawn from a layer, Annotations and simply added Text) - they are Size 10 Bold and either black text with white halo or white text with black halo. In ArcMap I have saved these styles so they are the first things I have to choose from whenever I get a 'Symbol Selector' box. How do I get something similar. I cant find a "save As..." anywhere when editing text symbology.

ArcMap has the feature to analyze a map/MXD for errors or ways to optimize the map (File/Analyze Map...). Is there an equivalent tool in ArcGIS Pro?
