Good Afternoon Jonathan, Thank you for posting! I'd like to start by asking if you would be able to call into Support Services to create a technical support case? In doing so, we can get you a designated analyst who can dive deeper into this issue. Please let me know if this is not an option (meaning you need your customer number or are unsure of the terms of the companies support contract). Here is the contact number for Support Services in the meantime - 1-888-377-4575! Best, Shannon | Product Engineer

Thank you for the additional information Pai, I am still looking into this. Perhaps you can see if the ArcGIS Maps for Office COM Add-in checked on. Open Excel > File > Option > Add-ins > Manage > COM Add-ins > select GO. Just for our due diligence ! Thank you, SC

Hi Konrad, I was hoping you could confirm if these are similar steps in your workflow: Open an Excel spreadsheet Add Map from the ArcGIS Maps tab Select Excel data from the map viewer Insert Table (or data) Change Map theme to Counts and amounts, select add data In the style tab, deselect Cluster Points Select Layer Styling Keep the defaults, but choose a new color scheme via the Advanced Options menu Observer the behavior of the bug There may be a few steps missing here but I was hoping you could fill those in for me. This will help paint a clearer picture of the behavior so we can try to reproduce this? Thank you, SC

Good Afternoon Pai, Thank you for your inquiry. To use ArcGIS Maps for Office, you must have an ArcGIS user type (login credentials) that include privileges to create, analyze, and share content and own groups, in addition to other tasks in an ArcGIS Online organization. The following resources may be helpful in determining the ArcGIS Online organization account being used to login to ArcGIS Maps for Office: Configure ArcGIS Maps for Office User Types, Roles and privileges As for your external IT-admins, they should be able to determine what privileges and permissions were created for the 'normal' user account. Perhaps, a modification to that particular user account may be necessary. For example, a typical user account cannot install software without administrator privileges. I hope this helps, if not we can continue to explore further. Best, SC

Hi again, now that I think about it, can you call Technical Support to get a case started? This will be beneficial for tracking and testing purposes. Support Services can be reached by calling 1-888-377-4575. Please let me know if this is not an option. Best, SC

Good Morning Andrew, Thank you for reaching out! I'd be happy to offer assistance! Without any additional background or knowing your exact workflow at this time, I believe what I am seeing in the above screenshot is an image you captured from Excel (and Maps for Office) by selecting the 'Create Slide' option: From here ArcGIS Maps for Office opens Microsoft PowerPoint and creates a slide containing the map image. You can resize and position the map image as you would any other image on a slide. The image contains only a representation of the map as it appears in ArcGIS Maps for Office; it does not include the map title, border, toolbar, layer cards, or navigation controls. Therefore, I think if you go back to Excel and add your content from online into the map and select 'Create slide' you should see a new image of the content you originally wanted. Please Note: The map contained in the slide is a static image and is no longer interactive as it was in Excel; that is, you can no longer pan or zoom. To create a dynamic map slide—a map with which you can interact during a PowerPoint presentation—see Add a dynamic map to a PowerPoint slide and Create a PowerPoint map slide from Excel for further steps. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Best, Shannon | Product Engineer

Good Afternoon Ali, Thank you for the feedback. To help clarify, I have outlined the functionalities below. The will remove the map permanently. There is not an option to undo that action at this time. The [ _ ] will minimize the map. And the [ square ] maximizes the map. At this time, if the is selected, there is not a way to recover the map or undo the action. One may opt to save the excel spreadsheet with the map as a backup or 'do not save the changes' made and close the excel and reopen it. I will bring this to the attention of our Maps for Office team. Please continue to share your thoughts, ideas and pain points using GeoNet (The Esri Community) platform. We are listening and continue to make every attempt to improve our products as quickly as possible. Best, Shannon | Product Engineer

Thank you for the clarification of your workflow Michael. Unfortunately, there is not an option to add tabular data from the feature service map into the excel workbook. When a layer is added from ArcGIS Online (in Maps for Office) it serves as a visual aid representation to enhance existing excel data. A potential solution may be to use ArcGIS Online, add the feature service and use the Extract Data tool to package the layers in your map into datasets that can then be used in ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft Excel, and other products. Extract Data creates an item in Content containing the data in your layers. You can then download the data from the item (see: https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/analyze/extract-data.htm). I hope this helps! All the Best, Shannon
