When creating a single or even a multirole locator in ArcGIS Pro, I like to capture the output from the tool so I can easily format the various parameters into a python script. For example, the field mapping parameter for a multi role locator looks like this once I get it into python: fieldMapping = "'PointAddress.HOUSE_NUMBER AddressPoints_Erase.ADDR_HN';"\
"'PointAddress.STREET_PREFIX_DIR AddressPoints_Erase.ADDR_PD';"\
"'PointAddress.STREET_NAME AddressPoints_Erase.ADDR_SN';"\
"'PointAddress.STREET_SUFFIX_TYPE AddressPoints_Erase.ADDR_ST';"\
"'PointAddress.STREET_SUFFIX_DIR AddressPoints_Erase.ADDR_SD';"\
"'PointAddress.SUB_ADDRESS_UNIT AddressPoints_Erase.UNIT_DESIG';"\
"'PointAddress.CITY AddressPoints_Erase.CITY';"\
"'PointAddress.POSTAL AddressPoints_Erase.ZIP_CODE';"\
"'StreetAddress.HOUSE_NUMBER_FROM_LEFT Centerlines_Erase.FROMADDR_L';"\
"'StreetAddress.HOUSE_NUMBER_TO_LEFT Centerlines_Erase.TOADDR_L';"\
"'StreetAddress.HOUSE_NUMBER_FROM_RIGHT Centerlines_Erase.FROMADDR_R';"\
"'StreetAddress.HOUSE_NUMBER_TO_RIGHT Centerlines_Erase.TOADDR_R';"\
"'StreetAddress.STREET_PREFIX_DIR Centerlines_Erase.PREDIR';"\
"'StreetAddress.STREET_NAME Centerlines_Erase.NAME';"\
"'StreetAddress.STREET_SUFFIX_TYPE Centerlines_Erase.POSTTYPE';"\
"'StreetAddress.STREET_SUFFIX_DIR Centerlines_Erase.POSTDIR';"\
"'StreetAddress.CITY_LEFT Centerlines_Erase.INCMUNI_L';"\
"'StreetAddress.CITY_RIGHT Centerlines_Erase.INCMUNI_R';"\
"'StreetAddress.POSTAL_LEFT Centerlines_Erase.ZIPCODE_L';"\
"'StreetAddress.POSTAL_RIGHT Centerlines_Erase.ZIPCODE_R'" It's easy to split the parameters at the semicolon, and makes it much easier to read in the python script itself. However, when it comes to splitting out the parameters of a composite address locator, it's not as straight forward. Here is the output from the tool: That's one long line. I can copy that single line into my python script but I can't read it since it goes on for about a mile: fieldMap = r'Address "Address or Place" true true false 100 Text 0 0,First,#,N:\GIS\Geocoding\NewGeocoding\MsdMultiRoleLocator.loc,Address,0,0,N:\GIS\Geocoding\NewGeocoding\NonMSDMultiRoleLocator.loc,Address,0,0' Does anyone know where to put the line breaks in as shown in the first python window? @ShanaBritt @BradNiemand

It's a cool idea, but like @VinceAngelo suggests, which one do you want? Here are three simple options of splitting a polygon approximately 50/50. Even with @JayantaPoddar 's suggestion, you are limited to what the software will divide up for you...

The two programs are very different with very approaches to the same end. If you are just starting out, forget ArcMap/ArcCatalog and focus your efforts on ArcGIS Pro. (Just my opinion after using ESRI software since 1990...)

@Asrujit_SenGupta - I don't see anything in the properties that points to symbology, and I don't see anything in the Symbology menu as suggested in the the Pro Help page I linked above.

@Asrujit_SenGupta I've never used them in my life; not knowingly anyway. It's so weird: I can export the feature class to a fgb and the symbology comes with it. Edited to add: The arcgis pro help page on representations suggests that they are an ArcMap thing. I haven't used ArcMap in 2 years....

Some time back I created a project where I assigned a specific Unique Values symbology scheme to a feature class in our enterprise gdb (aka SDE). Now when ever I add that feature class to a new project, I get that symbology. It seems to be a property at the EGDB level as a coworker confirmed when he adds the feature class he gets the same symbology. What causes this and how do I suppress it? Edited moments later: I added the same feature class to a new project and changed the Unique Values symbology. But when I now create a new project, that new symbology does not show up, the other one does... (My apologies if this is a repeat post: I thought I asked about this already but could not find any mention.)

Could it be that the data source connections have changed, or you have lost those connections somehow?

In your Street address locator properties, did you set the Intersection Connectors? Enter a comma separated list like: &, and, @, / etc Personally, I limit it to the & so users don't need to remember much.

I have a site address point feature class that has a parcel id assigned to it. I tried to use this feature class with a primary role of a point address as well as an Alternate POI name and get an error 002783 that tells me 'Reference data that is used for Alternate names tables cannot contain geometry'. I can however use the same feature class to fill both a Point Address Role and a POI role, although I personally would not do that. My normal practice is to have a multi-role locator with the following data/role pairs: Site Address Points - Point Address Parcel Polygons - Parcel Street Centerlines - Street Address (I also have a Street Centerlines Alt Name table) While I don't currently use a POI role, I used to when I worked in 9-1-1 where I had a point file where the primary reference field was a place name. That was in the days prior to the new style role locators.

The loop should select a group of rows.... then move on to the next selected group What is your selection criteria? I don't see it in your code sample. The process works manually... And what doesn't work? Are there errors?

Janet or James or who ever this is- I see a proenv.bat file in that directory. It looks like this: @echo off
@CALL :normalizepath scripts_path "%~dp0"
:: get the active environment from PythonEnvUtils.exe
FOR /F "delims=" %%i IN ('"%scripts_path%..\..\PythonEnvUtils.exe"') DO set CONDA_NEW_ENV=%%i
@set CONDA_SKIPCHECK=1
@set "CONDA_PREFIX=%CONDA_NEW_ENV%"
:: change directory if started from shortcut
set shortcut=0
for %%x in (%cmdcmdline%) do if /i "%%~x"=="/k" set shortcut=1
for %%x in (%cmdcmdline%) do if /i "%%~x"=="/c" set shortcut=1
@SET "activate_path="%scripts_path%activate.bat" "%CONDA_NEW_ENV%""
:: pass activate path through endlocal barrier
@for /f "delims=" %%A in (""!activate_path!"") do (
if %shortcut% == 0 (
@endlocal & @set "CONDA_SKIPCHECK=1" & call %%~A
) else (
@endlocal & @set "CONDA_SKIPCHECK=1" & @CD /d %CONDA_PREFIX% & cmd.exe /k "%%~A"
)
)
@goto :eof
:normalizepath
@SET "%1=%~dpfn2"
@EXIT /B My dos skills have never included editing batch files, but perhaps someone else can help here...
