Managing data by direction: ADOT's use of esri's Roads & Highways has expanded throughout the agency and is being used by other business units, including the pavement management system (PMS). The PMS team is looking to manage data on the LRS with directionality clearly defined. This is especially important on undivided facilities. There are a number of methods that ADOT is considering to support this business need. ADOT is interested in understanding how other states are managing data by direction.

I found downloading the pdf and removing the period between Management Comb worked for me.

We create a new zero location and update measures downstream. Our events are set to stay put so the X,Y stays the same but the measures are updated downstream.

From what I have seen it is technically not an issue but we have a business rule that all routes should start at zero measure. You should be able to use the edit calibration point tool at the calibration point at the start of the route and check the update downstream to fix if you so choose.

Maja, I would suggest submitting a ticket to esri. The first part seems correct to me. At least for us we want the Milepoint and Event from/to dates to match timeslices. If there is need to capture another date for the event we would add another field to the event. You get a new record for the from/to date change, then depending the settings something is changing (where along route is a new measure or the measure is the same but the x/y location changed). So that all seems correct to me. If you are doing a cartographic realignment one could get small changes but part of our editing we would not select realignment for such a small change.

Here at NCDOT what we have done if we need to create a fish or alpha route is to create a gap that is equal or less then 5.28' (0.001 miles). Our gap increment is set to euclidean distance. We typically gap before the first cross over. These routes are supported in Pro. Nathan has said if you have a gap you can cartographically realign to close the gap in Pro. Hope this helps,

In case you or others didn't know Phil Hardy showed me that looking at the LRS EditLog record, you can right click on a record and select Show XML Data to see the measure values and from/to routes ids.
