I have another simple question. How is it possible to change the point symbol from the default Purple circle to something smaller? This functionality is being added to another widget where we do not want to provide all the marker symbols, but create a default. Thanks,

Are there any sample codes for adding a featureServer from a Map Server such as this.. http://services.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services/layer/FeatureServer/0 I've read the API and do not see any examples. I figured out DynamicMapServiceLayer and can't seem to find code for a feature layer.

Is it possible to change the color ramps of image services within the Web Application? Currently, we apply a raster Function Template to each image service layer in the Web Map which gives each raster a color ramp (for example, black to white). We are curious if it is possible to allow the user of the application to change the raster function template or color ramp for the image service layers within the application. Any advice is very helpful.

Then the next step would be to add a custom widget to change between Web Maps within the application (not sure if that is supported either). For example, click here to view Climate Map, this would point the application to the Climate web map within the application, showing only Climate layers in Layerlist, click here to view Radiation Map, this would point the application to the Radiation web map, hiding all Climate layers and showing only Radiation layers. I suppose this would help eliminate having a long list of 300+ layers visible in the Layer List widget within the application.

Allow users to group layers and sublayers within the layer list widget so that layer groups can be expanded and collapsed. The current way would be to publish a map service which allows layer grouping, then add the map server to the web map. However; we are working with individual image services. By adding them to the web map as image services, we can configure the pop up for each image service and retrieve pixel values in the web app. If we are to publish a map service with these raster layers and add the map service to a web map, we can no longer enable pop ups for the individual image service/raster layers to retrieve pixel values on map click events. The web map object (this.operayerInfos) does not seem to have a method to remove and add layers to itself inside the layer list widget.js in order to place separate groups of layers in separate div elements within the layer list widget html. It seems to be an all or nothing, add all layers to this div or add all layers to this div. I'm not an expert but all support analysts tell me this functionality is not supported.

You are not alone. As ESRI stops supporting both Silverlight and Flex, hundreds of organizations will need code converted. Some of the risks involve limited JS API functionality. One simple yet unsolved issue we faced was map rotation. While Silverlight supports this, the JS API does not. Our customers are use to seeing their maps rotated by 243 degrees. Not allowing map rotation would really reduce customer ratings and cause confusion. The most efficient way would be to continue using your current Flex app, while you dive into recreating existing widgets and tools in JS. I wouldn't imagine you would lose much of your widgets as they are probably more backend geoprocessing services, however some of your front end functionality may change. Stay in close contact with ESRI Programming Support Analysts and GeoNet.

Thanks for looking into this. I see this works for vector points, polylines, and polygons; however, if one of your sub layers is an image service, or rather a raster layer, will it allow you to enable and configure pop ups on that sublayer? If we add single image services to the web map, I can enable and configure popups for each image service, but then we have a long, unorganized layer list in the Web App. If we publish raster layers in an MXD and add the map service to the web map, we can no longer enable and configure popups for the individual raster layers, but we have a well organized layer list and table of contents.

Yes, that is what I am saying. Seems that we cannot enable and configure popups on MapServer layers within the Web Map.

When we add individual image services to a Web Map and then add that Web Map to the Web Application, we can then click on each image service to obtain pixel values at the location of mouse clicks on the map through the out of the box popup. As long as we configure and enable popups in the web map for each image service layer. When we group and publish an MXD through Desktop, and then add that MapServer as a layer to the Web Map, and then the Web Map to the Web Application, we no longer are able to click on individual image services and retrieve the pixel values. It is as if that functionality only works on individual image services within a web map, not through MapServers within a web map. We would like to be able to group 130+ layers based on parameters in an expandable and collapsible tree (similar to MXD), and also use the out of the box popup for retrieving pixel values for each layer.

We found that using a published map service from the MXD does group the layers, however; it seems to also terminate the map.onclick popup box functionality we use for image service pixel identification.
